I loved the 2nd post by rowdysheis!!! you are freaking hilarious.
OT: I agree with the suggestion that just because it's in our head we should get over it.... but it's not that easy. It really is not.
and if the ex is really just a bag of water....SOMEONE PLEASE PASS ME A PIN!! OR SOMETHING SHARP AND POINTY!!

I guess a man with few words may very well have a compacted few worded enlightening thought; thus a simple explination for an age old dileamma.
So I guess since the brain is just nothing but chemicals, neurons, electricity and water love really never existed at all.

On the other hand, a breakup is the death of your ego. You have been rejected by
the one you love. So in addition to the pain your heart feels you have the pain of
your ego being smashed from the rejection by the one who means the world to
you. No way is this not going to cause major pain.
Recognizing the reality of what the heart wants and cannot have and the
illusion of the ego---that blow to your ego that is an actual death to a
construction of your mind about who you are---you can rationalize
yourself out of much if not all of the pain. I can actually feel it in my heart,
the pain and I know it's there as an injury which time will heal.
The ego death, that's a good shake up of my belief system and when I think
about being rejected and my all important ego being shattered it just
makes me laugh. | |

When people say to me "follow your heart not your head" I don't even bother to respond because it's so ridiculous given our hearts are controlled by the most important organ in our body - the brain! It is the brain that releases chemicals in to your bloodstream that of course have some effect on your heart but ultimately everything you feel stems from the 'ol grey matter! | |

First, I think the OP might have been doing three things: 1st, trying to get over someone by convincing himself of his (perceptive?) philosophy and seeking cheap validation from others. 2nd, he might just be pissed at women... understandable. 3rd, he's cleverly messing with us or he's an authentic nimrod.
What really annoys me is the "get over it" comment. It's a useless, trite, insulting demand that anyone agreed with. It's what narcissists employ to feed their ego, by further humiliating others who are vulnerable and to feel superior to them. The bag of water thing was funny because he's admitting he's just a bag of water... but in my humble opinion, within reason, the easier it is to get over love, the easier it becomes to not get into it. Any (especially unsolicited advice) that jades and dehumanizes people is negative (the first commandment of POF is not to do that), and a woman (mogrl42) among others agreed with him/it without reservation. That's sad and hypocritical too, because as I read women's profiles and advice, most of them are so unbelievably positive with unrealistic expectations, yet beneath the surface are often very negative. Bottom line is grief is not just a blow to the ego that you must pass forward. It takes time to heal and then to be open to a relationship again, having learned something productive, not just protective.
