Does your user name imply your occupation? if it does, you sould really not target yourself like that.
As a Paramedic I put myself in harms way to treat and transport drug overdoses, and restrain the ones in danger to themselves and others.....get yelled at, spat at, attacked, and have to listen to their delusions for almost an hour if they are concious. (Remember, only the narcs have Naloxone to derail the ride - all the others - you're in for it good or bad.) The whole program is distastful and demoralizing for the user so when you are done tripping and are now twitchy and jonsing , don't think that an appology takes anything dirty away. As for ectacy - the e-kids - we pick up crashed after the rave because they have burned up their ability to produce seratonine, are on seratonine replacement anti-depresants and are having a meltdown...yes I have seen almost every drug on board a human and still do not think for a monemt that you are going to evolve, ascend, transform, or become one with anything except a chemical dependancy or worse....Now as a nurse I treat the longterm patients for their now required rehab and on the occasional ICU shift, take care of the Comatose ones who misjudged their dose or mixed the wrong drugs...It all looks bad. You are talking about being a light drug user - to open up your mind - To what? Get real - drugs damage the higher bodies and you'll do the repair work when you really do get on your spiritual path.

Most ppl (not just women) don't do those drugs because we like reality. That stuff alters your control on yourself and the situations you are in. I could show you tens of thousands of case studies on why such drugs are more than horrible- but you wouldnt listen. So I won't. I will not argue with a drug user- it's often pointless- like talking to a rock. | |

When I was a kid my dad used to beat us all the time. My handicapped sister too. And my mom. And he wouldn't buy us food until he had his weed. There's a good example. Weed gives ppl cancer too. You know why it's not documented?? NO one tells their doctor they get high.

And of course I understand the principles of what happened and why- not only have I been there to witness- I'm not some backwoods ignorant fool that can't place blame on it's proper source.

Surely it must affect different people in different ways????
Like with prescription medication, some people suffer side effects - others dont????
He wouldnt be the first dude in the world to get off his head and be abusive!

See the real problem here is that people simply choose what they want to hear...never aknowledging the other sides views....and when it comes to arguments like this...the ones who are so adamantly against drugs are usually the worst....
Obviously if you had a traumatic experience associated with drugs...it's understandable why you feel this way....but if we can all agree that the biggest variable with drug use is the individual...then it shouldn't be so hard to accept that some good can actually come from drug use.... | |

So I tend to date women who drink and smoke, even they end up ****ing about it, but thats women for ya...

p.s There is no such thing as a LIGHT drug user... before you know it... (cause u cant see it or dont want to) you become an addict...
IM sorry but I really dont see how drugs can benefit me in my life ... so what's the deal with you using them>???
I guesss everyone has their outlet...

See, the problem with people taking mushrooms is that they do it for fun, when in reality, it should be done in a very serious matter. Ancient civilizations like the Aztecs, the Mayans, the Egyptians and many other advance cultures would regularly ingest psychedelics. It was used to destroy ones Ego, the sense of "I", all you have to do is look at our culture and see that we are all obsessed with ourselves, with how we look, how people see us, its in the advertising, clothing, food, our entire culture is based on the ego. A very in depth and very well researched book on drugs throughout the history of mankind was written by Terence McKenna, the most recent of modern geniuses of our time. People never think for themselves anymore and just listen to what they are told by the government and so they're opinion is created by them. Marijuana was said to drive you insane in the 1930's (search Reefer Madness on google video) but now they are opening up Medical Marijuana shops in California. Medical Marijuana treats many illnesses ranging from cancer (it inhibits the growth of cancer cells) to asthma (I used to have asthma until I started to smoke pot) depression, back pain, it also helps to improve eye sight (fights glaucoma). So please, learn to find the truth for yourselves about cannabis, learn how it was used as medicine in ancient times. You'll discover how ****ed up and backwards this society is.

I didn't get to read the other thread, I saw it, but thought better of it than to respond to it since I was married to a drug addict [his drugs of choose while we were married were meth and pot] who used the phrase 'it's just pot' or 'pot doesn't hurt anyone.' Well here is a 'reality check' for those addicts; my exhusband almost drove us off a cliff, more than once while he was on 'just pot' and I was pregnant no less. I didn't know he was high until we were going about 60 in the foothills on a turn that was '35mph.'
I don't drink, smoke or do drugs. I have had a drink or two, but it's been years. I don't like taking medications when the doctors prescribe them, so I go to natural things - yoga, mediation, teas; kick boxing when I can manage it.
Being a drug addict may not make you a 'bad person' but it DOES make you an addict and it also makes you someone that I won't associate with. When yous tart to rationalize your drug use you ARE a drug addict, you become NO BETTER than the guy on the streets who they show on tv as the 'stereotypical drug addict.' I might be brash on this point, but, I speak from expereince; am addict ex put me through hells I would not wish on anyone. Those things don't open your mind, that's an illusion, if anything it makes you irrational, it closes off cognative thought and it makes you an addict and someone that anyone with a child should avoid.
I joined a group because my ex was a drug addict and I started to learn how much that crap effected and effects everyoen around the addict.
Here is a hint for the OP and anyone who wants to 'rationaize' drug use, wake up. I am VEYR knowledgeable and open-minded, I also have an IQ an I have lived with an addict. I turned him him for using drugs an I will do that to any partner I have; as far as alcohol goes, it's legal, but, I do know the limit that I will be around; smoking is a deal breaker. If someone wants to commit slow sucide [and murder - 2nd hand smoke], they can do it away from me.
BTW, I am one of those people in the US that is trying to get pot listed and punished as a felony. IF addicts stopped using their drug(s) of choise as an excuse once they get into court for killing someone, or breaking the law, then maybe a few people, mayself included wouldn't be so against it, but since I hear on a regular basis on tv and on the court case I was on that the perp was using 'just pot' or 'alochol and pot' it proves my point, something isn't right.
Besides, their have been studies to PROVE that using pot or other drugs inc alcohol effects the brain and reduces cognitive thinking and hand eye cordination. I would rather be around a video gamer on a regular basis than an addict. | |

If the current ABC system is retained, alcohol would be rated a class A drug and tobacco class B.
The scientists involved, including members of the government's top advisory committee on drug classification, have produced a rigorous assessment of the social and individual harm caused by 20 of the UK's most dangerous drugs and believe this should form the basis of future ranking. They think the current ABC system is arbitrary and not based on any scientific evidence.
The drug policies have remained unchanged over the last 40 years so should they be reformed in the light of new research?

Choosing a non-drug user over a drug user, isn't riding on a "high horse." It's conscious decision based on what types of people you want or don't want in your life.
I'm sure you're very nice and have your $hit together, but my personal experience with people who use drugs has been that they're usually NOT very nice; they don't have their $hit together; they surround themselves with nefarious people, and they tend to cause hassle/grief to everyone in their lives.
I want a nice, stable, happy life, filled with people who I can trust not to cause me or my kids any grief, and it's been my experience that drug users rarely have lives like that. | |

Posted: 8/28/2008 11:26:30 AM | its funny how they always group the pot in there with the other illegal drugs. so what if its illegal,theres nothing to fear if you dont sell or buy in large quantities. a good lawyer can ussually get you off the hook. a good lawyer will also get that dwi off your record,get you probation and fines{not to mention his fee will likely be much higher}but as far as contributing to society types-stop your whining just because you feel superior doesnt mean you are.
life is too short to waste time arguing.too many nonsmokers of the ganja have no idea that it really isnt that bad for you,i get pulled over all the time when i'm high. i keep my record clean,imagine if i had been slightly inebriated all those times i got pulled over...i would be in jail. and i dont care if you like it or not,better me than some illegal w/o a license or billy bob on budweiser.
im sick of the women drinking socially yet requiring that contacts must not do drugs!
good luck with that when you see the sirens flashing in your rearview!
the best drug though is of course the runners high,but thats boring to me-jogging! so for now i'll keep smoking and driving,especially since all you gals are more concerned with being nuns than enjoying your lives. im certain that at least 1/3 of the women are lying anyways about their drug use.
so my advice is dont do drugs or alchohal,but if you do choose to use,choose weed its good for you! weed can make you stupid but not like blind conformity does!
