| Any other POF motorcyclists out there? Posted: 4/27/2009 9:33:53 AM | I was not labeling anyone, Sheila...I simply said the sort who are judgmental and who would balk at such...probably should not attend such. LOL
By judgmental, I was referring to the sort who would be APPALLED at those things...and instantly judge people for such.
I did NOT say that people who are not into such, are judgmental. LOL

| Any other POF motorcyclists out there? Posted: 4/27/2009 12:16:05 PM | I did not say she was being judgemental. But if someone isn't expecting to see nudity and they gasp or some other surprised response doesn't make that person judgemental. I know people have things they prefer that isn't always accepted by the public/society, that is why there are places and events designed just so those people can enjoy it. I prob wouldn't mind so much the events Flomo goes to occasionally. I most likely would get bored because it won't impress me or entertain me, and at a certain point if things get to where there are people so wasted or high they are passing out, urinating where ever they choose, I would prefer to have stayed at home or done something else.
I guess the description of the events is not something I have encountered or witnessed, but they were described to me by Tom along with the pics the web sites post, and my friends at Gateway that race bikes and of course the former motorcycle racers. Very few of the professional bikers that I know care for the events. Kind of reminded me of the Mississippi River Fest Days.

| Any other POF motorcyclists out there? Posted: 4/27/2009 3:56:56 PM | Ladies.....ladies;
I feel partly responsible for this totally useless bickering in a way when I said last week:
"Since this is a dating site and apparently, no one has anyone else for the moment, how do we decide who rides with whom? I'm game for anything and the pick of the lucky draw for me."
After I posted that, I saw a couple responses saying it's the woman's choice who they decide to ride with and isn't that really the truth anyway? I mean......a guy can ask a lady to ride and it's up to the woman to accept that ride. And on the other hand, a gal can "ask" a guy for a ride but it's up to him to say "sure".
Sheila, in thinking about what I said about never inviting you the Hog Rock rally again is true but on the other hand, many people have the wrong perceptions about what a motorcycle rally is all about. For me anyway, it's not about the very small percentage of woman that want to flash their tits or the guys that want to show how big their wang is........... it's about the feeling of freedom that we all have. I've met some nice people at these rally's but mostly it's just setting up my tent and sleeping bag and listening to all the bands and the great food from all the vendors. When I go to the Hogrock rally, I spend many hours at my buddies vendor space that serves up some of the best Cajun food there is and even let's me behind the ropes to help him serve up the best Etoufee you've ever had. It's about riding down to the rally and all that goes with it. I happen to be a guy that owns a motorcycle but don't consider myself to be a biker and for me there is a difference. It's not a way of life for me nor is it a hobby but I do enjoy going to rally's once or twice a year and riding with my buddies on the weekend occasionally but what I enjoy the most on my motorcycle, is when I have my sweetheart on the back of my bike with no one else, enjoying the countryside and maybe packing a picnic lunch along the way with no one else around. Stopping by a winery for several hours with my honey and sharing a bottle of wine or riding to a nice crystal clear stream and get out my fishing rod that I can pack with me and enjoy the outdoors. That's what it's all about for me. Believe me in that I've invited some of my dear friends throughout the years to follow me down to the rally and they never take me up on it. But for some reason, they all have the same misconceptions of what a motorcycle rally is all about and you know what? They don't know what their missing but if your a big prude and come along for the ride and don't like it, you'll be hitch hiking or driving back home by yourself. Peace

| Any other POF motorcyclists out there? Posted: 4/27/2009 4:03:44 PM | | Some of the best memories of my life were at the MRF...we rarely missed a W/E there. It was an incredible time and incredible people everywhere. Many nights I don't even remember getting hom...thank God I always had a ride. Remember too, the drinking age in Illinois then was 18. It was great being so close...we were lucky here in the area to be part of it. | |
|
| Any other POF motorcyclists out there? Posted: 4/27/2009 4:21:29 PM | | The memories I had of the MRF were very fond as well but don't remember any naked woman back then. I don't think gals did that back in the old days that I recall but there are many things that I don't recall from the 70's and that might be a good thing anyway. lol | |

| Any other POF motorcyclists out there? Posted: 4/27/2009 4:42:33 PM | For the most part it they were awesome events. I recall the idea of bathrooms was a shock to my system... I was in HS... Women would pull their pants down if they could and collapse near or once they got into the "bathroom". It was porta potties lined up. Some of them would still be there the rest of the evening. That is most likely one of the biggest reasons I limit myself on consumption of alcohol. I don't ever want to be in that position. Out in a wooded area is one thing, also the fact they would just collapse there... ugh... ick... sorry. Other than that, I wish they still had the MRF, bring your own, no bottles. Even for a HS student, that made 50 cents an hour babysitting, the prices were acceptable.
Tom, I believe you were close to the front row for one of the shows in the pictures of the web site. I know you have your group and style you hang out with and I would find my own thing. But, don't want to chance it unless I could come and go as I please.
Oh... and I doubt it. Wouldn't need to, there would be plenty of others doing just fine at it!
I think the bike owner and the passanger should come to a mutual agreement.

| Any other POF motorcyclists out there? Posted: 4/27/2009 4:51:43 PM | | I would love to ride with you, but I am really into back roads...will avoid highways anytime possible. Been riding an 1100 Virago since 1997...love this bike! | |

| Any other POF motorcyclists out there? Posted: 4/27/2009 5:13:56 PM | Im Havoc,
You can ride with us anytime you like because the riding group I belong to, accepts all brands and styles of bikes...........just as long as you ride. Great bike you have there. I own a Kawasaki Vulcan Nomad and we have everything in between. If you want to check out the group or join to participate, it's: stlvroc@yahoogroups.com. Looking forward to seeing you on one of the group rides.

| Any other POF motorcyclists out there? Posted: 4/27/2009 5:27:08 PM | Sheila,
Did your parents take you to MRF when you were a kid because I know that your at least 6 or 7 years younger than me when it was going on and I was no older than 22 when they closed it down and had gone on for years before that?
|
| Any other POF motorcyclists out there? Posted: 4/27/2009 5:31:02 PM | lol...I remember so much more than the port a potties...the great nights under the stars, a blanket with a special guy, the aromas of the night...those are the things that made it so special. Those are the memories I have...not the port a potties. Nothing like a great weekend under the stars, a sleeping bag and someone to share it all with! | |
|
| Any other POF motorcyclists out there? Posted: 4/27/2009 5:42:14 PM | | My apologies Sheila. They shut it down in 1980 and I know that I never went there after probably 78 after my Navy days. The highlights of what I remember weren't the pottie's I'm afraid because the guys would just walk down the hill into the woods and pee. I'm so you remember the Pottie's more than anything else | |

| Any other POF motorcyclists out there? Posted: 4/27/2009 6:22:10 PM | Wow!!! This is exactly how things get blown out of proportion. When I said " ladies choice" it was certainly said in jest. You all can bicker about who rides with who. I already have a ride. | |
|
| Any other POF motorcyclists out there? Posted: 4/27/2009 6:31:24 PM | whatever0001.....ok I admit it.. I am jealous cause I don't have a ride... but then... I probably wouldn't trust anyone so I doubt if my butttttt is going to be riding beach for anyone .LOL
I will stick with riding my bicycle on the paved trails...it is awesome.
I use to love the motorcycle thing... since I have gotten older.. lost that interest. I at one time had my permit I guess it was... I drove myself tyvm.
|
| Any other POF motorcyclists out there? Posted: 4/27/2009 6:36:15 PM | | Hadn't done it in years, but about a year ago had the chance to and got the bug again. And I know what you mean about not just trusting anyone! | |
|
| Any other POF motorcyclists out there? Posted: 4/27/2009 6:45:21 PM | LOL... no Tom, I think I went with friends at 1st then I went with dates in 79 and 80. I think my faves were Marshall Tucker and Pure Prarie League. I know I had front row for Heart, the band before them got booed off! It was mean! There was not a bad show ever! One of them it even rained, instead of sitting on our blanket, we stood and held it over us like everyone else that stayed. Yes, I remember the aroama! I think it was illegal back then too! Back in the day you didn't get frisked like you do now (at least not at the entrance ) It was a natural landscape, not created like Riverport, that hillside is nasty compared to the MRF...but that could be my imagination or my age! | |
|
| Any other POF motorcyclists out there? Posted: 4/27/2009 8:10:00 PM | | I saw all those bands too at MRF and maybe those same years but don't recall ever going there with my wife at the time that I married in 78. Heck, maybe went with some buddies and left her at home for all I know but too many years ago to remember well enough. Must of been all the blue haze that was drifting around in the valley? | |
|
| Any other POF motorcyclists out there? Posted: 4/27/2009 8:23:02 PM | Wow....starting to remember why forums suck, sometimes! I did not consider this bickering, and anyone who knows what I am like when I am would KNOW this is soooo not bickering. LOL When *I* bicker, the wrath is felt!
I simply rephrased what I said, for clarification purposes. And I DON'T think anyone was bickering over who was riding with who...lol...I made a silly comment in jest. Like Tom pointed out...it DOES have to be a mutual decision! But I thought the idea of a "Sadie Hawkins" style ride was hilarious! Most riders are VERY peculiar about who they ride...preferring a reasonable weight in proportion to their own, experience riding, etc.
|
| Any other POF motorcyclists out there? Posted: 4/27/2009 8:25:52 PM | | LOL... He is new. He can be very insiteful, one of the reasons I love talking things through with him! And I think he does the same thing with me. | |
|
| Any other POF motorcyclists out there? Posted: 4/27/2009 9:10:07 PM | My bike weighs over 700 lbs dry so a little extra wet weight in the rear doesn't really effect the handling of my big tourer or my ability to handle it all............so far anyway. lol | |
|
| Any other POF motorcyclists out there? Posted: 4/27/2009 9:18:28 PM | Speaking of having someone ride with you.... Do you know what riding a scooter and dating a rather large woman have in common????
They are both fun to ride but you do not want your buddies to see ya riding them!
Gotta Run | |
