I ride a Victory mostly for that reason Kat the only componant on a Vic that isnt home grown are the Brembo brakes. But I dont care what anyone else rides its the freedom of the road that is our common denominator. For me buying American is a way of life, I do it when the option is available. While Im on that rant,lol... I think its funny to see HD American Made stickers on Foreign brand cars...just sayin

Yeah, all my HD leathers say, "Harley Davidson An American Legend"....and right below that...."Made in China."

Well, I am not one who really gives a doo doo about such...because I am the sort who, if I am gonna do something, I am gonna do it right. I could never buy JUST American...and to me, it's kinda like being a vegan who eats meat occassionally.

Hey TJ...what's a Meet & Greek??

I think someone should plan it...and someone else should put my booty on the back of their scoot!

There are foreign vehicles of all sorts made in our country, but the majority of stock holders are foreign.. the head quarters are foreign. Even our owned and made in the USA get there nuts and bolts from other countries. Replacement parts are often made by comanies that are owned and operated in other countries. Last time I tried to by a US flag, I couldn't find on made in the US. How many AB stockholders in St. Louis sold to that other company? Our choices are becoming limited.

So, get on your bike and ride... you bought it from an US citizen, they benefitted.

I wonder how many countries buy US made products? It is all about fair trade they say, so try to look at it that way?

ok let me explain why I make this choice, I catch a lot of flack about this, lol.

I have lost 2 of the best jobs Ive ever had do to foreign competition and yes I realise that its more involved than just that they were not in the USA. BUT.... It is hard for a company here to compete while paying U.S. wages vs abroad. Its also hard for someone here to live on $1 an hr or less. I know I dont want people buying chinese toilet paper and paper towels if/when they start selling them here because I need my job a few more years. Ive never knocked any companies products or people who buy from over seas, its just my little stance and perhaps my Quixote windmill. Ride and Live free and thank those that give us the ability to make those choices!

funny thing about this "buy American" thought...it is a world economy-end of statement...there are no American coffe makers or blenders made...Harley Davidson for MANY years used a Nippondenso ignition (where is this made?) Many of the Kawasaki's are made in the US, along with Honda's, BMW's, etc. Perhaps we should be worrying more about how an autoworker can make $28 an hour and have the paper delivered to his/her workstation, have a table, chairs, fridge, microwave, etc while most of us that actually WORK for a living make half that-perhaps this should be considered..maybe if the standard of living in the rest of the world were brought up to our standards then we would be selling more to other countries...and the part that gets me the most-how many of these ppl crying about "buying American"took time out of their life to serve their country? not the percentage we would like to think I am sure...I know I dide and I am proud of our country but no so much of most of the ppl or the way it is run...

It's hard to buy American when there's becoming less and less American-made products anymore.

NAFTA - N ot A F *cking T hing A merican

GATT - G ot A ss-f*cked T wo T imes

MFN trading status with China - M ost F *cked N ation (the American People)

Those and other trade policies have really depleted America's manufacturing base over the years. yeah we may still make things here but there are so so much more things (things that you probably wouldn't even think about) that used used to be manufactured here that are now manufactured in other countries that we buy from. That's a lot of manufactured goods that used to be made here and the money stayed here. Now we send our raw materials to other countries to be manufactured into high-end products that are sent back here and our money goes back over there. Some of the hottest economies in the world right now are China, Brazil and India. Their manufacturing bases and stock exchanges have expanded exponentially as a result of those and other trade policies as ours declined. After America ratified the NAFTA and GATT and MFN agreements our economy was f*cked right then and there and most people never knew it. The internet technology boom and the easing of credit lending (bad credit, no credit, no problem, etc.) was the smoke and mirrors that made the economy look good for a decade or so when really it wasn't. Now it's starting to show. Paying for a war certainly isn't helping things obviously but getting out of it will only be a band-aid cure on an open economic wound. We may not collapse economically as a country but we're never going to be the economic powerhouse we once was unless there's some major changes made to our trade policies but that'll never happen.......

........most people simply don't understand (or care) how trade, tax and monetary policy runs this world.......

Can you say "banana republic"?

Hey Jake...charity events are not allowed as a POF event, but who is the SOMEONE who is willing to step up and plan something? Hello?? *I* cannot host everything! How about a Route 66 run of some sort...decide the exact routes/places to stop...a mini poker run?

Route 66 runs over half way across this great Country of ours and much of it is the Interstate so maybe something along the lines of Hwy 94 would be better suited. I'll see what I can put together but need other motorcycle people to chime in to see how many local bikers we have.

World famous Route 66, known as the "Mainstreet of America" or "Mother Road", is 2400 miles long from Chicago to Los Angeles, crosses three time zones and 8 States: Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California.

Of course we do not have to COMPLETE it...lol...I only suggested it because there are some killer good routes/places snuggled into such. :O) There are tons of Route 66 tour sites online, and a large deaf riding group actually does an annual run. :)

Hey Kat maybe something more along the lines of making a circle ya know? Similiiar to a poker run...and Rt 66 could be part of it...I suppose would mostly depend on how long everyone wants to ride...and the stops we make

I am pretty sure those Illinois people are weird...but nothing to do with telling you that! LOL

Honestly, I have never been on a run that had non-riders, with the exception to certain charity runs that had some cars/trucks going in advance. (In other words, they did not ride WITH the bikes) Also, many are known to just meet up at one of the stops...or more traditionally, the last stop. I think a ton of peeps met up at Shady Jacks after the Polar Bear Run who did not ride. (Brrr!)

So quit the talkin....and set it up! Hey Mac...you got an extra lid for my noggin' baby??
