Maple creamssssssmmmmmmm Boil maple syrup, then add cream and boil some more. Pour into molds. If you want the exact recipe, let me know and I will find it. You seem to be a treasure trove of recipes. I do enjoy maple cream, and while I have some recipes, I am always looking for more, to learn to make different kinds, and in different ways. So please, do post your recipe.
Thanks. | |

Bake a winter squash, such as a buttercup.
I like to use it in acorn squash. Cut it in half, scoop out and rinse, then add a pat or two of butter, add some maple syrup, and then a sausage patty. Bake. Yum!!

I should have added my recipes here. I am sorry. I just remembered that LanSir was asking for one and I forgot where it was, until I ran across this after I posted a new thread.
Charon...awesome recipes and ideas with Maple Syrup...I am definitely copying those. Makes me think of a new thread I want to post about snow.

| It's Maple Syrup Time!!! Posted: 5/31/2008 8:40:30 PM | I had a recipe for a marinade using:
Chipotle Peppers in Adobo Sauce Garlic cloves Soy Sauce Maple Syrup
I think that is everything but I can't remember the amounts. I lost the recipe. Has anyone heard of something simular?

| It's Maple Syrup Time!!! Posted: 6/1/2008 8:08:29 PM | "I know you can make wine from birch sap with lemons and raisins, it is the king of all home-made wines I have ever tasted. Can you do the same thing with maple sap?"
"My guess would be yes. I've never tried it, but I've heard you can make syrup from birch sap too."
I love birch syrup! First tried it in Alaska a couple of years ago. Sweet like maple, but with a sharper molassas edge. Here are a couple of places where they sell birch syrup online. i know it's also available in Ontario, but I couldn't find out from where.

| It's Maple Syrup Time!!! Posted: 6/1/2008 8:44:02 PM | Yup, you can make wine from maple syrup. I use it all the time in place of sugar. In my salad dressing for example. | |

| It's Maple Syrup Time!!! Posted: 6/2/2008 9:50:29 AM | A fortuitous accident... much like the peanut butter/chocolate thing...
Was cooking breakfast this morning and had some excess butter & maple syrup in the bottom of a skillet- very hot and thick. Also had just finished a container of sour cream, just about 2 Tbsp left in it. Poured the hot butter/syrup into the container to dispose of later, and the instant cooling and mix looked and smelled interesting.
The syrup congealed instantly on hitting the still cold sour cream- combining just enough to make little clumps of glass-like maple-cream 'candy'. It wasn't really sweet- nor was it particularly creamy, nor tart from the sour cream... a very subtle combination of sweet, creamy, and tart.
I suppose there was about 1 Tbsp of margarine to 2 Tbsp of maple syrup that had been cooked down to about 1 tbsp of mixed stuff. Might need more experimentation- it's similar to dropping thickened hot syrup into snow to get maple 'spun sugar' threads.

| It's Maple Syrup Time!!! Posted: 6/2/2008 11:23:09 AM | | Besides beans a great way I've found to use the wonderful stuff is to warm it in a pan with a wee drop of whisky then pour it over a slightly dry sponge cake. Let it soak in for a full day to 'even out' so you have no dry spots...serve with whipped cream and berries...NICE! | |

| It's Maple Syrup Time!!! Posted: 6/4/2008 5:01:20 AM | | Smithsonian magazine has an advertisement for a "rent-a maple" service. You pay rent, and they send you the syrup made from that particular tree. A pretty cool idea, though I haven't tried it yet. | |

| It's Maple Syrup Time!!! Posted: 6/4/2008 12:36:47 PM | | I enjoy the simplest of maple syrup pleasures - a tablespoon poured over the best vanilla ice cream I can afford, served in a martini glass.....skip the olive, of course. | |

| It's Maple Syrup Time!!! Posted: 6/4/2008 1:09:23 PM | | My sister makes a version of potato salad that adds a tablespoon of maple syrup right at the end. It's actually very good! | |

| It's Maple Syrup Time!!! Posted: 6/4/2008 6:26:17 PM | | At the Holstein Maple Fest this year, they boiled hot dogs in the Maple syrup... not something you would want all the time... but YUM!!!!! Get the syrup boiling... dunk the hot dogs in... and in about a minute they are hot all the way thru! You don't need any ketchup/relish/mustard... because you get a bit of syrup in the bun with the dog! | |
