And electing Obama won't change a thing, rage wise. That happens TONIGHT, and it will be pretty much the same reaction. Only this time it will be something that crosses racial lines, as a great number of people explode with rage, across your country.

Not a good thing, by any means, but one that is totally predictable.

Let's keep our collective fingers crossed on all sides, that irrationality takes second place on everyone's agenda. Ballots, not bullets.

The Idiot in Chief and its minions have ALREADY been stripping away our civil rights. Enough already!

Liberals are the ones who are always fighting for our liberty. LIBERal=LIBERty!!

Liberals have given us freedom from bad food for example by regulating food. It was the liberals and organized labor who gave you the eight hour workday and the WEEKEND!!

MG is right: Ballots not bullets. We need to vote out every single neocon Republican twit out of Congress and out of the White House once and for ALL. NO MORE!

montreal guy~

Now you know i love you... i do... you are a smart guy, and i appreciate the depth of your interst in american politics... it's refreshing to hear from someone from elsewhere who doesn't have your everyday knee-jerk anti american views...etc. and i always enjoy reading your posts...

however... obama gave a speech where he repeated over and over again bush..mcain.. bush mcain...bush mcain... and refered to a mcain presidency as being simply a "3rd term" bush. he used a rhetorical techniqe that associates one with the other. he knows that he has to associate mcain with the bush policies, even though the truth of the matter is that mcain has stood up to bush repeatedly, and has actually run opposition to bush on key legislation. obama is doing this because bush is an extremely unpopular president, and must associate bush with macain as much as possible in order to beat him in the upcoming election. this is quite blatant. obama uses a lot of rhetorical devices skillfully. he knows exactly what he is doing. he speaks in broad generalities, using abstractions such as "hope" or "change," which allows each hearer to interpret those concepts in thier own way. obama at that point becomes what the hearer wants him to be. in a sense, each person hears what they want to hear...

designing woman~

again, you views really do lack nuance, and demonstrate a profound lack of understanding of what single party rule would look like.

first of all, i am most certainly a conservative; however, i would never ever want to live in a country that was controlled completely by republicans only. in otherwords, we need both parties.

whenever you have one party in power for too long they begin to be less responsive to thier constituents. and as absolute power corrupts absolutely, corruption often becomes rife, and the people are not served well under such circumstances. this is evdient in both parties, and i can attest personally that this unfortunate state of affairs is most likely why the state of illinois is now considered to be the most corrupt state in the nation. just look at chicago... it's been controlled by democrats for decades! it is one of the most dysfunctional and corrupt cities that one could ever live in... everyday we have a new scandal detailed in the local press.... yet they keep voting the bums back in... i don't care what party a person belongs to... if they are a bum they need to go... and that goes for democratic bums and repube bums as well!

divided government works very well. this is preferable. for example, clinton did very well with a republican controlled congress, and reagan did well with a democratically controlled congress. the two parties work in a symbiotic relationship where in the system of checks and balances is in full bloom. neither pary can take the votes of thier constituents for granted, and both have to come together in order to get anything done.

for you to assert such a silly view is really quite naive. and your assertion that its the dems that have given us "freedom," is easy to refute. there are plenty examples... but i will share just one with you... the kelo case... otherwise known as the infamous eminent domain case that the nutty lefties on the supreme court voted in favor of a few years back... both ginsberg and the other usual suspects (souter, brier) ruled that the state could take the property of a private citizen and give it to a 3rd party... e.g., a real esate developer... if it meant that the state would recieve increased tax revenue as a result... even if the property is not blighted... this was an appaling attack on freedom... (life, liberty, and property....) and yes, perpetrated by your buddies the democratically appointed supreme court justices who quote foriegn law when interpreting our constitution...

so you are wrong... as usual...and if you would like to actually read about the case... here ya go.., you probably won't.. it might upset your paradigm...

divided government works very well.

Yes, you are a conservative. Not a real conservative though. This neoconservatism has survived as long as it has ONLY because it has mastered the art of "divide and conquer". The path is simple. It can start with name calling. The problem is that it can end in cruise missiles. Wars have probably been started for less. Yes this administration has been a super duper magic trick and people fell for it.

They all wanted a beer with the guy. Yes indeedy. A down home Gomer Pyle type who could be played like a fiddle. Now, today, I'd venture a guess that the very same aspiring drinking buddies would prefer an hour alone with him with a baseball bat. Broke that contract with America? You bet. And he broke America along with it. Divided government works very well? You have to be kidding. Oh, I forgot, cooperation isn't really in the neocon vocabulary. We don't have divided government and haven't had it for decades.

No, our brand of government is not divided, it's divisive. It's hostile. It's hateful. It's lie after lie, scandal after scandal, ineptitude after ineptitude, failure after failure and, well, you know, just check Bush's resume. It pretty much follows the pattern don't you think? The blind leading the blind into a wall?

Parenthetically, but apropos, a friend of mine emailed a hysterically funny short movie clip (I'm sure it's been around the net on youtube) but I can't remember the name of it but I'll search for it. It's an American nuclear submarine captain who, having been alerted by his crew of an impending collision with something targeted by radar. The captain gets on the horn and orders the "intruder" to immediately identify itself and immediately change course 14 degrees to starboard. The voice says "I can't do that mate. Sorry".

You can see the captain's face turn flush blood red and the veins in his neck start popping out. He yells "sir, I am the american fleet commander in the Pacific and am captain of the lead nuclear vessel in these waters and I again warn you that if you do not follow my command to the letter, we will take the appropriate military action. Do you understand?"

The voice, "yep, I understand, but I just can't. Sorry."

The captain: one last try - "You can't? Just what the hell do you mean that 'you can't'"?

The voice: "I'm a lighthouse".

(rimshot)

'Ya see, I have nightmares about McCain becoming head of state. I have visions of him captaining that craft just like the movie.. but we're talking about the USA...and quite frankly, it scares the bejesus outa me and the flick is no longer funny...for me anyway. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

I personally think it's time that every American pay attention and start sorting the real from the BS because I can promise you the BS is really gonna hit the fan as soon as Obama meets McCain head on. It's going to be great theatre. I'm going to start collecting Time Magazine monthly from here on in because, no matter how it ends (although I have my personal crystal ball so I know the outcome - but you can't see it. Forget I mentioned it. You'll just have to take my word for it but, in either case, I'm not telling. Peace to us all. We all deserve a break.

I just bought one of those nifty magnetic bracelets. I wanted something really minimal, something very modern, and above all, really cheap. I wasn't looking for magnetic bracelet from the start, I just stumbled upon while googling away the hours (I have far too much time on my hands) and came across exactly what I was looking for. BUT, here's the hitch, it's made of over a hundred small, teeny cylindrical magets (alternating black and gold). Altogether they're nice to look at. (Theraputically, the lore is that it helps generally, but who knows. That could all be magnetic firms PR hype. But it looks nice. That's the bottom line. But it ONLY works because opposites, when they're allowed to really meet, form an incredibly strong bond. Just my two cents worth.

PS: In fact, I wore it for the first time to a coffee shop to meet a friend for lunch and when I left, I was embarrassed to see a knife and fork stuck to my bracelet. Sure. Tell it to the judge.

I just found the short WMV file and if anyone wants to see it, I'll upload a copy. It's funny as hell but it shows how arrogance, authority with it's power catch up to an embarrassing reality check. It's about the USS Montana and it's confrontation with, hmm something.

Yeah, Its Amazing that so many people only hear, or believe what they want to believe.
Obama,..and his like,..is only going to help lead our country on down the road to ruin,
at our expense,...in order to help stop "Global Poverty"

Human Events. com
http://exposeobama.com/

President Obama Signs $8500.00 Per Household Tax Into Law: Funds To Go To The United Nations To Combat Global Poverty!

Make no mistake, the headline above is a lot closer to fact than you may think! So if you're wondering what an Obama presidency would be like, look no further than the above headline!

What the media is NOT telling you is that Barack Hussein Obama does, in fact, have a legislative record in the Senate and one of his proudest accomplishments is The Global Poverty Act (S. 2433).

But wait just a minute! Isn't combating poverty around the world a noble goal?

Well... the devil, as they say, is in the details!

Some conservative leaders are already sounding the alarm and telling us that, if passed, Barack Hussein Obama's Global Poverty Act will commit us to a stealth United Nations-inspired global tax of $845 Billion dollars... that comes to approximately an $8500.00 tax burden for every household in the United States!

Cliff Kincaid of Accuracy in Media wrote:

"[T]he legislation, if approved, dedicates 0.7 percent of the U.S. gross national product to foreign aid, which... would amount to $845 billion 'over and above what the U.S. already spends.'"

"The plan passed the House in 2007 'because most members didn't realize what was in it.' Congressional sponsors have been careful not to calculate the amount of foreign aid spending that it would require."

Remember the Food for Oil Scandal? Let's face it; the United Nation's actual record on ending pain and suffering around the world is pathetic and dismal.

The questions to ask are, first, how much of our money that goes to the United Nations right now actually winds up lining the pockets of third-world dictators and despots? And, second, if Obama's plan succeeds, how much of his new $845 billion giveaway will end up in those same pockets?

Barack Hussein Obama's Global Poverty Act MUST be STOPPED! Time is of the essence! Obama's Global Poverty Act actually has the support of some prominent RINOs such as Senator Richard Lugar and Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Joseph Biden, who just pushed Obama's world welfare bill out of committee. It could be up for a vote in the Senate AT ANY TIME!

Barack Hussein Obama MUST be stopped. But more importantly, his so-called Global Poverty Act -- which has already passed in the House (because most Members simply didn't know what was in it) and is presently being pushed through the Senate -- MUST be stopped.

You can help us do BOTH! RIGHT HERE and RIGHT NOW!

Use the "Join the Fight" button below and we will send 50 urgent and personalized Blast Faxes FROM YOU to President George W. Bush and each and every one of the 49 Republican Members of the United States Senate.

This is NOT a petition! This is NOT a simple and ineffective e-mail to your congressman. When you use the "Join the Fight" button below, we will send 50 Faxes in your name to President Bush and the Republican Members of the Senate. And with your help we can literally flood the fax machines of these federal legislators with a message from concerned Americans that can not be ignored!

Demand that President Bush and the Republican Members of the Senate use any means at their disposal -- including a filibuster if necessary -- to derail Barack Obama's Global Poverty Act! Help us expose Barack Hussein Obama to the American people and at the same time help us expose and stop his dangerous agenda. Use the "Join the Fight" button below!

Others are sounding the alarm about Barack Hussein Obama's Global Poverty Act.

Conservative icon Phyllis Schlafly recently wrote:

"Obama's costly, dangerous and altogether bad bill (S. 2433)... would commit U.S. taxpayers to spend 0.7 percent of our Gross Domestic Product on foreign handouts..."

Schlafly also wrote:

"The Global Poverty Act would be a giant step toward the [United Nation's] Millennium Goals of global governance and international taxes on Americans."

Joe Farah, publisher of WorldNetDaily.com said of Barack Hussein Obama's Global Poverty Act:

"Now comes an even grander proposal by Barack Obama. It's called the Global Poverty Act, that would, in the next decade, transfer at least $845 billion of U.S. taxpayer money overseas. Think of Johnson's failed war on poverty going international -- directed not by Americans but by the United Nations."

But don't take Schlafly's or Farah's or Kincaid's word for it. Read what is in Barack Hussein Obama's Global Poverty Act for yourself:

Specifically, Barack Hussein Obama's Global Poverty Act would require that the President: "acting through the Secretary of State, and in consultation with the heads of other appropriate departments and agencies of the United States Government, international organizations, international financial institutions, the governments of developing and developed countries, United States and international nongovernmental organizations, civil society organizations, and other appropriate entities, shall develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to further... the reduction of global poverty, the elimination of extreme global poverty, and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goal."

And just who are these "international organizations" and "international nongovernmental organizations" and "other appropriate entities?"

You guessed it! He's talking about the United Nations!

And just what, pray tell, is the "Millennium Development Goal?"

Cliff Kincaid again:

"The bill defines the term 'Millennium Development Goals' as the goals set out in the United Nations Millennium Declaration..."

"In addition to seeking to eradicate poverty, that declaration commits nations to banning 'small arms and light weapons' and ratifying a series of treaties, including the International Criminal Court Treaty, the Kyoto Protocol (global warming treaty), the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child."

Help us expose Barack Hussein Obama to the American people and at the same time help us expose and stop his dangerous agenda. Use the "Join the Fight" button below!

In fact the United Nations Millennium Declaration talks about much more than the eradication of poverty. Kincaid yet again:

"Those U.N. protocols would make U.S. law on issues ranging from the 2nd Amendment to energy usage and parental rights all subservient to United Nations whims."

But that's not all, since we're on the subject, the United Nation's Millennium Development Goal -- proclaimed in 2000 -- contains plans for additional assaults on your wallet.

Among those goals are:

a "currency transfer tax;"

a "tax on the rental value of land and natural resources";

a "royalty on worldwide fossil energy projection -- oil, natural gas, coal;"

"fees for the commercial use of the oceans, fees for airplane use of the skies, fees for use of the electromagnetic spectrum, fees on foreign exchange transactions, and a tax on the carbon content of fuels."

a "standing peace force;"

a "UN arms register of all small arms and light weapons,"

" peace education... at all levels from preschool through university;"

the "eradication of poverty" through the "redistribution [of] wealth and land,"

cancellation of "the debts of developing countries,"

and "a fair distribution of the earth's resources."

How do you suppose the United Nations expects to "redistribute" the land and the wealth?

Unless Barack Hussein Obama is STOPPED, we may all find out!

Use the "Join the Fight" button below and we will send 50 urgent and personalized Blast Faxes FROM YOU to President George W. Bush and each and every one of the 49 Republican Members of the United States Senate.

I suggest you reread the Global Poverty Act thread again, you are totally wrong in your basis for arguing against it.

It's something that was decided long ago by this President, on standards accepted by this President, and passed in both houses in Congress.

http://forums.plentyoffish.com/datingPosts9934333.aspx

Or search for "The Global Poverty Act & Obama" .

I've set out the entire basis for that act quite clearly, properly cited, and shown it's the result of a long decision making process that started when President Bush decided to support the goals of reducing world poverty.

I think Obama is good at reciting speeches but listening to him answer questions is difficult because he has trouble choosing the right words at times and uses alot of "ah's" which I find to be rather irritating when I want to just hear a straight answer and not one carefully selected for various reasons.. PC or otherwise. I think he just lacks a smooth dialogue that someone like Cheney has.

Its sad, but this was the brianchild of Obama, and his baby, isnt it ?
Isnt "Obama" the one that introduced this bill ???

We do sit back unless the PC group is in the mix .Thats why Arab North Africa does not qualify .Nepal ,Bhutan and Afghanistan .They are in the poorest country group but not for G8 and probably not for the Global hogwash. Afghanistan is recieving nothing but death and heartbreak 5 years after the US/UK took over. There are some 700 million children in Latin America and Asia who live in the same or worse conditions than sub-sharan Africa . Native American living in poverty and misery .
To say the world or worlds poor is a sham.If I felt an even distribution of PC,aid and funds-I would give up all my pay by choice-bar some pocket money.........but it isn't .

Reguardless,...If,...You,..or anyone else believes that the monies spent, will actually reach the people its intended for,...then you havent been paying attention to history, and then were doomed to have it repeat itself.

Yes,...we will see the Media play up the role, as to show our $Dollars$ are going to a
"Noble Cause" and it will be appealing, and heart warming, and make us "Feel Good".

But what you wont see is the skimming, the fraud, the deciet,...the leaders of these so called Poverty Countries, will be lineing their coffers, their Swiss Bank Accounts,..with the $Money$ that was supposed to go to help make this world a better place.

After all these years,..of our country, and others, the UN, the Peace Corp,..trying to raise the living conditions of countries in poverty,....and we havent made a dent !

Why ?,..several reasons,....the main one being the money doesnt get put to use as it was intended.....

The next,..is that age old addage from the bible,.....
Give a man a fish, feed him for a day,......"
"Teach a man to fish,....feed him for a life "... bla bla bla

The problem is,.....NO ONE WANTS TO FISH !

All they want,...is for us,..to continue to give them handouts !

"HANDOUTS, HANDOUTS, HANDOUTS "

I say its time to "Cut The Strings",....

How many countries has the Peace Corp went into, and taught the people how to grow their own crops, to sustain their own food source ????

And the people are too lazy, to do so,.....yet,..they keep their hands stuck out for assistance ,....
from people that arent able to realize, that as long as we keep feeding them,..
they arent going to stop seeking our help.

"CUT THE STRINGS !"

With the United States, in such dire straits,...it is time to put a STOP,..to trying to cure the worlds ills,...and start worrying about taking care of our own citizens.

I knew there was a reason I didn't come into the politcal threads. The only way you can put these two words together is like this...

Liberal+Liberty=Zero (She just needs to look up Liberty)

At least in the terms of todays political enviroment, kind of like when Ann Coulter tried to say that Franklin D. Roosevelt was a republican. The democratic party of today really just needs to rename itself because it is no longer the democratic party.

Officials say Fla., Mich. delegates will get half-votes
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080531/ap_on_el_pr/primary_scramble

Wow,...Party Officals are squabbling that Clinton should allow them to,...
"Split the Votes",..in Michigan,...even tho Obamas name isnt even on the ballot.

WASHINGTON - Democratic Party officials agreed Saturday to seat Michigan and Florida delegates with half-votes, ruling on a long-running dispute that has threatened the party's chances in November and maintaining Barack Obama's front-runner status as he moves closer to the nomination.

The decision was a blow to Hillary Rodham Clinton as she was on the verge of watching Obama make history as the first black Democratic presidential nominee. It prompted an irate reaction from boisterous Clinton supporters in the audience and her chief delegate counter, Harold Ickes.

It seeems as if,..."Some" people,..will go to great lengths, to insure their canidate get the nomination,..even bending the rules,..and forceing themself on matters that sould be pretty clear cut.

"How can you call yourselves Democrats if you don't count the vote?" one man in the audience shouted before being escorted out by security. "This is not the Democratic Party!"

The sticking point was Michigan, where Obama's name was not on the ballot.

Obamas name was NOT even on the Ballot ???

Why ????

If his name was NOT on the Ballot,...then why does he deserve any of the Votes ????
Im just sitting here scratching my head on this little tidbit of information.

Clinton's camp insisted Obama shouldn't get any pledged delegates in Michigan since he chose not to put his name on the ballot, and she should get 73 pledged delegates with 55 uncommitted.

Now,..that seems like the democratic way to handle the situation,..if your name isnt on the ballot,...how can you even get a vote ?

Obama's team insisted the only fair solution was to split the pledged delegates in half between the two campaigns, with 64 each.

Sounds like bull to me,....either your name is on the ballot, or its not,..if its not, then you cant expect any votes .

The committee agreed on a compromise offered by the Michigan Democratic Party that would split the difference, allowing Clinton to take 69 delegates and Obama 59. Each delegate would get half a vote at the convention in Denver this summer, according to the deal.

Split What Difference ? If your name isnt on that states ballot,...YOU DONT GET VOTES!

The committee also unanimously agreed to seat the Florida delegation based on the outcome of the January primary, with 105 pledged delegates for Clinton and 67 for Obama, but with each delegate getting half a vote as a penalty.

Now,..it looks like the one being PENALIZED,...is Clinton,...for refuseing to withdraw from the Race,....and NOW,...the votes are being manipulated,..to favor OBAMA.

Obama picked up a total of 32 delegates in Michigan, including superdelegates who have already committed, and 36 in Florida. Clinton picked up 38 in Michigan, including superdelegates, and 56.5 in Florida.

"We just blew the election!" a woman in the audience shouted. The crowd was divided between cheering Obama supporters and booing Clinton supporters.

"This isn't unity! Count all the votes!" another audience member yelled.

Its pretty sad,.....Im not in favor or either Clinton, nor Obama,...yet,...I see our system,
once again, failing to live up to what we call a Democrey. What I do see,..are DIRTY POLITICIANS,...manipulating the system,.....again.

I agree,...that we need to COUNT THE VOTES,...and if your name isnt on the ballot,

Guess what ? You dont get any Votes.

I suggest you reread the Global Poverty Act thread again, you are totally wrong in your basis for arguing against it.

I did go back and re-read it,..and Im still against it.

Why is it that the Unites States is called upon,..to remedy the Worlds ills,...
When we are almost bankrupt, due to these efforts, and efforts like it,..and from the people that took an Oath to Protect our Intrest, that have been fleecing our countries coffers, instead of trying to streamline a plan to get our oncve great nation out of DEBT,..instead of creating MORE DEBT.

Why does the United States keep "Borrowing" money fron China, EVERYDAY',....
Just to stay afloat ?????

The only way to get out of debt,..is to tighten your belt, and REDUCE SPENDING.
Its not hard to understand.

All I asked was,...if this was Obamas "Baby",..and if so,.its just another reason I dont want him, or anyone like him running/ruining whats left of this country.

THE GLOBAL POVERTY ACT

Obama, Hagel, Cantwell Introduce Bill to Fight Global Poverty
http://obama.senate.gov/press/071211-obama_hagel_can/

“Eliminating global poverty remains one of the greatest challenges we face, with billions of people around the world forced to live on just dollars a day,” said Senator Obama. “We can – and must – make it a priority of our foreign policy to commit to eliminating extreme poverty and ensuring every child has food, shelter, and clean drinking water. As we strive to rebuild America’s standing in the world, this legislation will not only commit to reducing global poverty, but will also demonstrate our promise and support to those in the developing world. Our commitment to the global economy has to extend beyond trade agreements that are more about increasing corporate profits than about helping workers and small farmers everywhere.”

I say to heck with "Foreign Aide",..when we have our own "POVERTY" here in America,..that isnt being addressed,...yet we want to spend BILLIONS, on Foreign Aide to countries that arent even willing to help themselfs by growing crops, taught to them by our Peace Corp, and UN Workers.

Oh yeah,....those "Small Farmers" Obama is talking about, have just about been eradicated by Foreclosure, due to our Government, not looking out for them.

The Global Poverty Act:

Declares it official U.S. policy to promote the reduction of global poverty, the elimination of extreme global poverty, and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goal of cutting extreme global poverty in half by 2015.

Requires the President to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to carry out that policy.

Includes guidelines for what the strategy should include - from aid, trade, and debt relief, to working with the international community, businesses and NGOs, to ensuring environmental sustainability.

Requires that the President’s strategy include specific and measurable goals, efforts to be undertaken, benchmarks, and timetables.

Requires the President to report back to Congress on progress made in the implementation of the global poverty strategy.

This legislation is supported by a broad range of groups, including Bread for the World, CARE, Oxfam America, Habitat for Humanity International, National Wildlife Federation, Sierra Club, United Church of Christ, Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Borgen Project, United Methodist General Board of Church and Society, RESULTS, and Micah Challenge USA.

Introduced in the House by...
Rep. Adam Smith Rep. Spencer Bachus

Introduced in the Senate by...
Sen. Barack Obama Sen. Chuck Hagel Sen. Maria Cantwell

“We can – and must – make it a priority of our foreign policy to commit to eliminating extreme poverty and ensuring every child has food, shelter, and clean drinking water. As we strive to rebuild America’s standing in the world, this legislation will not only
commit to reducing global poverty, but will also demonstrate our promise and support to those in the developing world."
Sen. Barack Obama

Why,..dont we "Strive",..to reduce the Poverty Level here in the Good Ole USA ?
Why,..dont we "Strive",.. to reduce the debt, that is driving our nation, deeper, and deeper, into a debt, that we pass on from one generation, to another,..all we are doing is digging that hole, deeper, and deeper, to pass along to our children, when they take control of whats left to salvage.

Barack Obama's Global Tax Proposal Up for Senate Vote
http://www.nationalledger.com/cgi-bin/artman/exec/view.cgi
archive=22&num=18845

A nice-sounding bill called the "Global Poverty Act," sponsored by Democratic presidential candidate and Senator Barack Obama, is up for a Senate vote on Thursday and could result in the imposition of a global tax on the United States. The bill, which has the support of many liberal religious groups, makes levels of U.S. foreign aid spending subservient to the dictates of the United Nations.

Senator Joe Biden, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has not endorsed either Senator Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton in the presidential race. But on Thursday, February 14, he is trying to rush Obama’s “Global Poverty Act” (S.2433) through his committee. The legislation would commit the U.S. to spending 0.7 percent of gross national product on foreign aid, which amounts to a phenomenal 13-year total of $845 billion over and above what the U.S. already spends.

The bill, which is item number four on the committee’s business meeting agenda, passed the House by a voice vote last year because most members didn’t realize what was in it. Congressional sponsors have been careful not to calculate the amount of foreign aid spending that it would require. According to the website of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, no hearings have been held on the Obama bill in that body.

A release from the Obama Senate office about the bill declares, “In 2000, the U.S. joined more than 180 countries at the United Nations Millennium Summit and vowed to reduce global poverty by 2015. We are halfway towards this deadline, and it is time the United States makes it a priority of our foreign policy to meet this goal and help those who are struggling day to day.”

I guess Obama has forgot about the citizens of America, that live hand to mouth, from Check to Check,...week to week,...barely scraping by, trying to balance their budget, to decide how much money they can allot for gasoline,..and the ammount they can spend on Grocerys,....

Too many people here in AMERICA,..go to bed hungry,..because they dont make enough to get by !

But for many Americans, that go to the Food Stamp Office, to seek help,...are told,...
"SORRY,...YOU,..MAKE TOO MUCH MONEY !"

In addition to seeking to eradicate poverty, that declaration commits nations to banning “small arms and light weapons” and ratifying a series of treaties, including the International Criminal Court Treaty, the Kyoto Protocol (global warming treaty), the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

WOW,...an ever broadning, all encompasing, catch all,......Huh ?

Jeffrey Sachs, who runs the U.N.’s “Millennium Project,” says that the U.N. plan to force the U.S. to pay 0.7 percent of GNP in increased foreign aid spending would add $65 billion a year to what the U.S. already spends. Over a 13-year period, from 2002, when the U.N.’s Financing for Development conference was held, to the target year of 2015, when the U.S. is expected to meet the “Millennium Development Goals,” this amounts to $845 billion. And the only way to raise that kind of money, Sachs has written, is through a global tax, preferably on carbon-emitting fossil fuels.

Gee,...I DONT,...like to see the word force used in any kind of language,.....it has a meaning of, MAKING SOMEONE DO SOMETHING, AGAINST THEIR WILL
And did you read that last line,...the one that says,.....

And the only way to raise that kind of money, Sachs has written, is through a global tax, preferably on carbon-emitting fossil fuels.

WOW,.....MORE TAXES !

Obama’s bill has only six co-sponsors. They are Senators Maria Cantwell, Dianne Feinstein, Richard Lugar, Richard Durbin, Chuck Hagel and Robert Menendez. But it appears that Biden and Obama see passage of this bill as a way to highlight Democratic Party priorities in the Senate.

The House version (H.R. 1302), sponsored by Rep. Adam Smith (D-Wash.), had only 84 co-sponsors before it was suddenly brought up on the House floor last September 25 and was passed by voice vote. House Republicans were caught off-guard, unaware that the pro-U.N. measure committed the U.S. to spending hundreds of billions of dollars.

More foreign aid through passage of the Global Poverty Act was identified as one of the strategic goals of InterAction, the alliance of U.S-based international non-governmental organizations that lobbies for more foreign aid. The group is heavily financed by the U.S. Government, having received $1.4 million from taxpayers in fiscal year 2005 and $1.7 million in 2006. However, InterAction recently issued a report accusing the United States of “falling short on its commitment to rid the world of dire poverty by 2015 under the U.N. Millennium Development Goals…”
Even these increases, however, will not be enough to satisfy the requirements of the Obama bill. A global tax will clearly be necessary to force American taxpayers to provide the money.

force American taxpayers to provide the money.

Did you see that word force,....again ?????

I am tired of being FORCED to part with my hard earned money,..to support any kind of Foreign Aide, or any other spending, that I dont approve of.

If YOU,..want to support any kind of action to reduce poverty,...shouldnt it be done here at home first ?

Why dont we have a World Class Education System ?
Why dont we have a World Class Health System ?
Why dont we have a World Class Political System ?

Because,...our leaders,..are too busy,..trying to take care of the "Worlds" problems,
instead of the problems we face here, everyday, at home.

Only after we address our own problems here at home,...should we consider trying to take care of others.

Instead,...were,..FORCED,...to watch our nation go down the tubes,..while we try and save other people, and their problems.

Oh dear, you know why. I know you do. And we're only seeing the beginning of what's to come.
Globalization tax is one way to soften you to the idea of globalism. With the NeoCRATS who support the SPP agreement, do you honestly think any one of them gives a rat's azz about turnig us upside down and shaking every last dime we worked for out of us?
Bush has a "change" in mind for us. Obama has a change in mind for us. McCain and Hitlery have have a change in mind for us. All Council of Foreign Relations members have a change in mind for us.

Check out the videos if you dont feel like reading. (Especially House Rep Katherine Jose video). What starts with Bush will only continue with the CFR candidates we have. Yes Obama, McCain and Hitlery.

Then your fight should be with the President - not Obama.

The goals put forward by that president, and your government, are exactly what the Global Poverty Act sets out to do - no more, and no less.

We are talking about a worldwide effort by every country involved in this process to end the misery of poverty and what it entails for our future. In doing that, there is a means to ensure better government through the MCA - which Americans run.

Those people in poverty are the petri dish of the terrorism and revolution , if we ignore them now. If we do, others won't.

And those people are our enemies.

Compassion is the strongest weapon in our arsenal.

You get to keep 99.30 % , and use only 0.70 % to better the world's future.

It's also a very Christian thing to do, at the same time.

Says everywhere, even on our congressional Web site that Obama was one who introduced it.
IMO: This is an American fight to keep our liberties and our sovereignty. All (mentioned above) politicians and them some, members of the CFR blatantly shoving this globalist agenda on us deserve mention. NONE of them are fighting to preserve our sovereignty which as far as I know still means something to Americans. This is an American issue at present and I can understand our constitution, bill of rights or our sovereignty has no value to you. And I am ashamed of Americans who might also take no value to them or are sleeping at the wheel due to supression of truth by our so called trusted elite-owned media.
The candidates who spoke truth about where America is headed, (Paul, Kucinich, Gravel),were quickly muted. Isn't that what ususally happens when you try to expose corruption in power? Mind you, there are some things I do like about Obama - that should spare me some graces with you. But his support for globalization and strengthening our military industrial complex and law enforcement are not to my liking AT ALL. I've yet to hear what any of our dear candidates are actually going to do to turn this country's economy around while making agreements for open borders with Canada and Mexico without transparency or the with consideration of public opinion.

MG, your intentions are usually good, peace and love for all, but a blind eye to what's happening in this country is beyond my ability to rationalize. And who is to say Americans can afford to keep digging deeper and deeper in their pockets to take care of other less fortunate countries when "the typical" American is finding it harder and harder to take care of theirselves. Americans have always stepped up to the plate, but times are changing and not for the better, no turn around in sight - although we'd like to believe there was. Those of us who haven't lost everything YET are in a recession. Those who have lost everything are in a depression.
I'm living in a state that has been hit pretty hard over the last several years. We have cities in receivership, we have vacant buildings where businesses once flourished, we have for sale signs on homes for over a year, we have people who's unemployment ran out – no job or training available to them, we have couples working two menial jobs to barely stay afloat, we have college students who can't find jobs in their fields, people retiring with no pensions, people who've put into SS for years only to hear it won't be there for them, people who have no health insurance and those of us fortunate ones that do are paying dearly for it. I suppose this is all just an illusion conspiracy theorists believe and none of these things are really happening.

For the love of God, we have people in the USA who are living in tents and cars. I'm sure you've read up on tent cities. We have our own to take care of but it seems people keep shoving foreign interests above our own, ignoring our own.
The old saying is, first you must get your own house in order.
