| Barack Obama, the most Amazing cadidate4 president in decades makes a powerful speech today 3/18/08 Posted: 5/31/2008 11:33:13 PM | Do you think everyone is living in palaces in Canada ? Think we don't have homeless people ? Ever see OUR gas prices up here ?
How about those countries that are now meeting the goals set forth in the Millenium challenge ?
Statistics showed that only the Netherlands, Denmark, Luxembourg, Sweden and Norway were able to meet the 0.7 percent U.N. aid target.
Think times aren't tough there too ? Seen the price of gas in those countries , the cost of food ? They have much smaller countries, a lack of resources (as compared to North America) , and smaller populations than the US does.
They do it now.
It's called compassion, and a vision for the future.

What is it about this, specifically, that troubles you? As far as I know, the Act is simply a series of rhetorical flourishes, without much practical meat to it (although I could be wrong, if someone wants to correct me).
As for OUR economy, Obama wants (for example) to shift the tax burden from the Americans you are talking about (losing homes, closing businesses, etc.) to the gazillionaires who have received huge tax breaks under Bush....and to create affordable health insurance for all Americans....and to stop subsidizing the oil barons with our tax money....those are good things (and real)...right?
And how, exactly, is our sovereignty in question?

Do you think everyone is living in palaces in Canada ? Think we don't have homeless people ? Ever see OUR gas prices up here ? Never said that MG .. you know better than to imply that. The growing population of homeless is a huge concern here. (I believe in Canada as well). Don't you believe we need to resolve the growing homeless/poverty crisis in our countries before we attempt to save the world? This is why I say we need to get our houses in order first. It would follow the same philosophy that the family bread winner takes care of #1 so that he/she can provide for their family first. Those of us fortunate enough to manage hanging onto our homes watch as our property values continue alarmingly on a downward trend while our property taxes are on the increase. You would think it wouldn't be so, but fighting city hall has proven a futile effort for many.An excerpt from:
The Growing Homeless in America The Often Unseen Turn of America's Morgage Crisis By Charlene S Noto, May 22, 2008 http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/777159/the_growing_homeless_in_america.html
The working classes subjected to America's subprime mortgage crisis are building the nation's homeless. According to an April 2008 report by the National Coalition for the Homeless, the top 10 states with foreclosures attributed to 73% of the homeless. Those states were: California, Florida, Ohio, Texas, Michigan, Georgia, Illinois, Colorado, Arizona, and Nevada. In 2007 the top 10, consisting of California, Florida, Texas, New York, Arizona, Ohio, Georgia, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and Virginia, attributed to 58% of the homeless. The top 10 map is changing and the homeless are spreading out.
Canadian gas prices may be ridiculous, but thankfully you don't have to pay high gas costs PLUS outrageous health care premiums (and those of us w/children pay more) while having to dole out a nice chunk of change for prescriptions too. At the rate it’s going, many of us are wondering how we’ll afford to heat our homes this winter. Because you have socialized medicine, wouldn’t that somewhat offset the gas prices? FYI: My best friend for years is a Canadian. She feels the pinch as well - especially since she crosses the border everyday to work in the US and collect a paycheck based on the American dollar. I can also sympathize with those being caught in the middle of our downturn, don't think otherwise.
What is it about this, specifically, that troubles you? And how, exactly, is our sovereignty in question? You might want to read my earlier post and accompanying article above. Nafta has been a thorn in the American worker’s side and globalization — having the many tenacles of the UN firmly attached to the US (like lamprey) troubles me as well. When the we enter into a treaty with another country, group of countries or international organizations, the citizens are subject to the terms of such treaties. If the terms of international treaties are contrary in any way what-so-ever to out fundamental CONSTITUTIONAL Rights, America's Sovereignty is compromised. Yet we (the public) are allowed no say in the matter and often these agreements are made without transparency and in the shroud of secrecy. Not disputable.
In recent years the United Nations has assembled 'peace keeping forces' from participating nations. The US has participated heavily in these activities. In a number of instances, US troops have been instructed to put on UN insignias and serve under the command of foreign commanders. In some cases, individual servicemen have refused to serve under foreign commanders and have been summarily subject to court martial and dishonorable discharge. The legal arguments of these soldiers have been that upon joining the US Military they made a commitment to defend the Constitution of the US and that service under foreign commanders in an international army was not part of the agreement. The UN is to be a forum for peace among nations, where disagreements can be resolved before war and hostilities erupt. The UN should not intrude upon the sovereign rights of peoples and governments to manage their own affairs. There is a danger in giving the UN a standing army. There is a danger in making nations subject and liable to mandated controls by the UN. Another excerpt:
Who Owns World Heritage Sites? http://www.americanpolicy.org/un/seventyonemore.htm Seventy One More United Nation's Heritage Sites Planned
Many Americans have been disturbed to find that there are 22 areas in this nation that have been designated as United Nations' World Heritage Sites. These sights are natural places such as parks or cultural monuments like Tom Jefferson's home, Monticello.
As a result of a UN treaty called "The Convention Concerning Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage," such sites come under the jurisdiction of the United Nations' Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Such designations have been the source of major debate as to whether the UN has gained control of sovereign American territory.
However, the debate may be about to rage even hotter. Because a quick look at the UNESCO web site on the World Wide Web reveals a list of 71 more sites, located within 32 states, that have been proposed for future United Nations' World Heritage Area .., The designation of United Nations' World Heritage Sites and Biosphere Reserves can and does result in the centralization of policy-making authority at the federal level, particularly by the Executive Branch. Once a UN designation is made and accepted by the Federal Government there is literally no opportunity for private American land owners to dispute it or undo the designation.
Private property rights literally disappear, not only in the officially designated area, but worse, in buffer zones OUTSIDE the designated area. Not only has the federal government been using these treaties and agreements to limit access to, and use of, these lands to all Americans, but they also have used the UN designations to limit use of private property OUTSIDE the boundaries of the site …
But "time" has now become the worst enemy of the American Lands Sovereignty Protection Act (S.2098). Because if Senate action is not taken before the 105th Congress adjourns in October, the bill will die. The process will have to start all over again in the 106th Congress.
The American Lands Sovereignty Protection Act (S.2098) represents the best great hope that Americans, who love their sovereign nation, have ever been able to muster against the United Nations' land grab. To save our liberties, S.2098 must not be allowed to die. Now is the time to mount a massive fight in the U.S. Senate to pass it.
What exactly is it that the UN has done for Iraq or the Iraqi families that are suffering and dying through an occupation by foreign military?
As for OUR economy, Obama wants (for example) to shift the tax burden from the Americans you are talking about (losing homes, closing businesses, etc.) to the gazillionaires who have received huge tax breaks under Bush....and to create affordable health insurance for all Americans....and to stop subsidizing the oil barons with our tax money....those are good things (and real)...right? Sure they're good things. I did say there are some things I like about Obama. I would just like him tto explain his support for the SPP and globalization. Come clean about his affiliation with the CFR instead of saying he's "not sure" if he's a member or not. Don't get me wrong, Obama is NOT the only one I question. I for one don't play the partisan game and vote on the issues that affect this country first and foremost. What is it Obama, Clinton or McCain will actually change for the better about Nafta? Can someone enlighten me? Maybe I missed the explanations, because I can only recall the superficials of "change" without hearing anything in depth. I sure hope the changes they all propose will be explained a bit more in detail when Obama and McCain or Hillary and McCain face off.
Here's some articles if you care to read them: http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=44010 http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a39f0b9ec3dd0.htm

| Barack Obama, the most Amazing cadidate4 president in decades makes a powerful speech today 3/18/08 Posted: 6/1/2008 1:29:16 PM | Gee,..it isn't that Obama is "Amazing",..he is a Politician,..nothing "Amazing" about that. What is "Amazing" is the continuation of eroding away the basic AMERICAN DREAM, that we were brought up to believe in,...by people like Obama, and other Politicians like him, that are more worried about dividing the ruling elite, and the working class, by TAXING us to death, and creating MORE POVERTY, here at home, in the "Good Ole USA"
oneblend, I am not sure I understand your issue with the Global Poverty Act. Is there something in there that I'm missing that would mean more real difficulty to average Americans? Then YOU,...MUST not of read the bill,....
This isn't about forcing Americans to donate their hard earned dollars to global causes... Its EXACTLY,..about FORCING Americans to part with their hard earned $Dollar$,..without having a say so about it ! Did you read the article I "Copied & Pasted ??? Did you see the word FORCE injected in there several times ??? Do you not understand the meaning of; "TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION" ??? Its one of the basic fundamentals this once great country was built upon,....its too bad to see what used to be a great nation, fall prey to the Politicians in Office that have turned against the American People, and have turned into self serving, greedy shysters that have abandoned their oath to protect "We The People"(s) BEST INTEREST. I see a couple of you people,.. that are supposed to be sooooooooooooooooooo SMART,,, yet you fail to see that our Nation,..The USA,...is floundering,.....stumbling, and were getting ready to FALL,....HARD,.... if we keep up this immoral, unjust, illegal war in Iraq,...and threatening to attack IRAN NEXT ! The GLOBAL POVERTY ACT,...is just another added burden placed on the shoulders of the working class AMERICAN PEOPLE, that is being FORCED upon us, against our will,....and adding to an already over burdened budget. OK,...for you people that are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Smart,... Lets do some basic simple math,..so as to not confuse you,...... $TAX$----------on Gasoline +$TAX$----------on Food +$TAX$----------on Wages +$TAX$----------on Poverty +$TAX$----------on Property +$TAX$----------on Tobacco +$TAX$-----------on Alcohol + $TAX$----------on Bills, to REDUCE POVERTY +$TAX$-----------on Road Construction +$TAX$-----------on Education +$TAX$-----------on State Level +$TAX$-----------on Federal Level +$TAX$-----------on Building New Stadium +$TAX$-----------on Building New FIELD HOUSE +$TAX$-----------on Building New Convention Center +$TAX$-----------on Building New Sewer System +$TAX$-----------on Bonds, to help Build Special Handicap Access Sites(never used) +$TAX$-----------to SUPPORT WAR +$TAX$-----------to SUPPORT ANTI WAR _______________________________________________________ TOTAL COST,....FAR FAR MORE THAN THE AVERAGE AMERICAN CAN AFFORD ! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ The GLOBAL POVERTY ACT, is just another guise to take away even more of Americans hard earned money, from their already depleted budget. WE DON'T NEED IT ! OBAMA is the one that introduced this bill into legislation,.....to the President,.....
The President didn't introduce this Bill,...but he will look a fool, if he doesn't address it in a Positive manner. OK,...the above addition may be a little over board,....it just serves to show how overtaxed the average American is. And Gas, at $4 a gallon,....is fast becoming the main reason for further POVERTY. A Question, Please......... How does a person cut down a Tree ??? ONE CHOP, at a Time. And this is how America is being led down the road to RUIN,........One Chop at a Time. Please don't misunderstand me,......I am all for helping to end Poverty,..and I'm not mad at any of you,....I know the Global Poverty Act,...was introduced as a Noble Cause to help people in dire need,.....and I'm not mad at "THE AMAZING OBAMA",...for introducing this bill,...... I'm mad, that the people targeted to support this bill,.. is the AMERICAN WORKING CLASS,..who already have problems of their own trying to balance their budget, and make ends meet, before they end up loosing everything they have worked so hard for. WHY,..hasn't the "Subsidy" the government added onto the Gas Tax,..been lifted,...seeing as how it served its purpose, and isn't needed anymore? (You didnt think I knew about that did you) Why hasn't our President allowed the "RESERVES" to be used, to help ease the burden of the high cost of gasoline ? (Thats what he is supposed to do at times like these) BECAUSE THEY ARE BLEEDING US DRY ! DELIBERATELY, INTENTIONALLY,..... So the Rich Ruling Elite,..will stay the Rich Ruling Elite,... and the American People will be their Labor Force. Obama is not "Amazing",....nor is Hillery,.... McCain,...would probably keep the US mired in Iraq, and passably continue agitating IRAN, until we bring them into the mess, too.....(GOD Forbid) Obama, Clinton, McCain,....there all a bunch of Carpetbaggers,..that will do nothing but continue to lead our once Great Nation, on down the road to ruin. Cant you brilliant people, who so strongly support these people, see that its just ,.."more of the same" , being continued,......... We haven't had a Quality President in decades,......as far as I'm concerned, Regan was our last hope,..and there hasn't been anyone deserving to be in the Oval Office since. Now,...we have someone like RON PAUL,....that has the insight, to see our nation is headed for disaster,...and he,..has Ideas,..that express his desire to get this country back on track,..and restore our Country,..into being a Great Nation again.
Restore our Constitution,..our basic Freedoms, and rights. (and ,..YES,....I know that Congress has to work with the President, and vise versa, and if by some strange quirk of fate if Ron Paul was elected,......I know Ron Paul would face heavy resistance,...so,.... NO, I don't see that happening,.,.... I'm a "Realist", but I can Dream, cant I ?) In case you people haven't been paying attention,....the US of A,...has fell from Grace, many , many, years ago,...instead of being a "Lending" Nation,....we have been reduced to a "Debtor" nation. WHY ? WHY, Has the Greatest Nation on Earth, been reduced to the level it now stands, slumped over,....asking CHINA,..to bail us out ??? POOR LEADERSHIP,........ MISMANAGEMENT,....... BAD JUDGMENT,....... And,....Not Listening to the ills, and woes, of the American People here at home. Before,..we,..as a Nation,.....can "HELP",..out others abroad,.......we need to take care of the Problems here in our own back yard, first !

Did you read the article I "Copied & Pasted ??? Did you see the word FORCE injected in there several times ??? Do you not understand the meaning of; "TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION" ???
Biker, I do understand the meaning of taxation without representation--but it appears that you don't. If our representatives in Washington vote to impement policy and taxes, then we aren't being taxed without representation. We might not LIKE it, we might think that we aren't being represented WELL, but we ARE being represented.
I did read the excerpts from the articles that you provided, and some of them do use the word FORCE--and yet, that is language used by opponenents of the Global Poverty Act, and their interpretations don't change ITS language. If there really are mechanisms for a "global tax"--as if an international body could directly tax the American people--then I haven't heard about it. This is alarmism at its finest, intended to evoke ...well....alarm...from people who already have an inherent distrust of the UN specifically and any commitment to international cooperation more generally. But really, you, as an individual, CAN'T be taxed in this country by the UN or any other international body. And the fact that you can be taxed in your country by your government for purposes that you don't like does not mean that you are being taxed without representation.

| Barack Obama, the most Amazing cadidate4 president in decades makes a powerful speech today 3/18/08 Posted: 6/2/2008 8:07:35 AM | Its "Amazing" that people, such as Obama, and others, can, and do intruduce Bills into legislature, that affects the poor, and the working class,..without considering the burden it adds to our everyday struggle.
Anyone,..that takes it upon themself, to decide that I, myself, and others can support an additional TAX,..or TAX increase,....without first consulting me,...or the poor,..or the working class,..and putting it to a vote, to see if it sinks, or floats,.....IS NOT REPRESENTING ME,....or anyone else.
But Thank You for your reply in kind,.....I hope you can understand my point of view, and Please understand,...Im not mad at you, or anyone else thats posting on these fourms,.....I gain an insight here, that I might not agree with, but I try to look at the views expressed, and weigh the pros and cons,...
But on this "Obamas Gonna Save The World" issiue,.....I just have to disagree, with Obama,..and I see him as just another pretender, in disguise, like the rest of the smooth talking, polished SHYSTERS, that make many Promises, of how their gonna change the world,....... All Im Worried About,..Is SAVING AMERICA !
Obama,..his ties, and connections, to many, many shady people,..just turns my stomach,..that the AMERICAN peopel are willing to turn their country over to someone with communist ties, and wants to send our hard earned TAX dollers overseas,..instead of here, helping to rebuild OUR COUNTRY.
ELECTION 2008 Obama bill: $845 billion more for global poverty Democrat sponsors act OK'd by Senate panel that would cost 0.7% of gross national product
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=56405
Sen. Barack Obama, perhaps giving America a preview of priorities he would pursue if elected president, is rejoicing over the Senate committee passage of a plan that could end up costing taxpayers billions of dollars in an attempt to reduce poverty in other nations. The bill, called the Global Poverty Act, is the type of legislation, "We can – and must – make … a priority," said Obama, a co-sponsor. When word about what appears to be a massive new spending program started getting out, the reaction was immediate. "It's not our job to cut global poverty," said one commenter on a Yahoo news forum. "These people need to learn how to fish themselves. If we keep throwing them fish, the fish will rot."
Dang,....I cant believe someone else understands that continual handouts, solves nothing, and just creates more burden, for us,..the AMERICAN TAXPAYERS.
Many Americans were alerted to the legislation by a report from Cliff Kincaid at Accuracy in Media. He published a critique asserting that while the Global Poverty Act sounds nice, the adoption could "result in the imposition of a global tax on the United States" and would make levels "of U.S. foreign aid spending subservient to the dictates of the United Nations."
"In addition to seeking to eradicate poverty, that (U.N.) declaration commits nations to banning 'small arms and light weapons' and ratifying a series of treaties, including the International Criminal Court Treaty, the Kyoto Protocol (global warming treaty), the Convention of Biological Diversity, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women and the Convention of the Rights of the Child," he said. Those U.N. protocols would make U.S. law on issues ranging from the 2nd Amendment to energy usage and parental rights all subservient to United Nations whims.
And the only way to raise that funding, Sachs confirms, "is through a global tax, preferably on carbon-emitting fossil fuels," Kincaid writes.
On the forum run by Americans for Legal Immigration PAC, one writer reported estimates of taxes from 35 cents to $1 dollar a gallon on gasoline would be needed.
"This is disgusting, sickening and angers me to the depths of my soul," the forum author wrote. "Obama wants us to support the world. I wonder how they intend to eliminate poverty. Most of the money always winds up in some dictator hands and in the U.N. coffers."
WND calls to Obama's office, as well as the offices of others who supported the plan, were not successful in obtaining a comment.
I can hear John Lennon singing "ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE",...
Yeah Right,.....
OK,..heres an article about Obamas Communist Connections,... and remember this is just one of many,....
This doesnt even include my thoughts of Obama being a good friend of so called radical black activist, likeRev Wright, Louis Farrakan, Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton, and others, that will be sitting in the White House sipping Tea, while helping dictate what Obama should do next.
ACCURACY IN MEDIA The Candidates’ Communist Connections http://www.aim.org/aim-column/the-candidates-communist-connections/
Senator McCain’s communist connections consist of bombing the communists during the Vietnam War and then being shot down, badly injured, captured, and tortured by them. On the other hand, Senator Barack Obama was mentored by an identified Communist Party member in Hawaii who had functioned as a Stalinist agent. That was before Obama developed cordial relationships with communist terrorists who openly supported the communist regime that tortured McCain and killed 58,000 of our fellow Americans.
McCain was on the American side during the Vietnam War. He personally risked his life and carried out the U.S. policy of resisting the communist military conquest of South Vietnam. Obama had friendly associations with those who had been on the other side and they helped launch his political career in Chicago. Obama can’t solve this problem by occasionally wearing an American flag lapel pin.
Keep in mind that we are not talking about associating with those who simply opposed U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War. Obama’s friends, such as Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, cheered for a communist victory and visited Havana, Cuba and Hanoi, North Vietnam to bring that about. Like his comrades in the communist Students for a Democratic Society, Tom Hayden of “Progressives for Obama” wrote a letter urging a communist military victory over the U.S. These were people who actually supported the enemy
Gee,....Did I read that RIGHT ?
In the case of Frank Marshall Davis, Obama’s childhood mentor, we are dealing with someone who was on the communist side long before the Vietnam War. Davis supported Stalinist Russia even after the Hitler-Stalin pact. This relationship may help explain why Obama would leave Hawaii, associate with Marxist professors and attend socialist conferences in college (as he admits in his book, Dreams From My Father), and then associate with terrorists, communists, and socialists in Chicago, where he would launch his political career. Davis was a key influence over the young Obama, filling his head with anti-American thoughts.
I been saying all along, Obama does NOT, have Americas Best Intrest at Heart.
Significantly, the basic facts of the Obama-Davis relationship were originally disclosed by Professor Gerald Horne, a contributing editor of the Communist Party journal Political Affairs, who talked about Obama coming under the influence of Davis during a speech at the reception of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA) archives at the Tamiment Library at New York University.
Horne, a history professor at the University of Houston, noted that Davis, who had moved to Honolulu from Kansas in 1948 “at the suggestion of his good friend [and secret CPUSA member] Paul Robeson,” came into contact with Obama and his family. As Horne describes it, Davis “befriended” a “Euro-American family” that had “migrated to Honolulu from Kansas and a young woman from this family eventually had a child with a young student from Kenya East Africa who goes by the name of Barack Obama, who retracing the steps of Davis eventually decamped to Chicago.”
However, in Obama’s 1995 book, Dreams from My Father, Frank Marshall Davis was identified only as “Frank.” Among other things, according to Obama’s own account, “Frank” told him that blacks had a reason to hate and that he should not believe all of that (expletive deleted) about the American way of life.
When one of Senator Hillary Clinton’s supporters brought up the issue of Davis’s influence over Obama, by circulating an article I had written for AIM about Davis playing the role of Obama’s mentor, he was pilloried by the left-wing blogs. The reaction suggests awareness that the role of Davis in the formation of Obama’s political views could sink the candidate. They are desperate to keep this information suppressed.
So how long will Obama’s cover-up persist?
There are many in the liberal and conservative media who want desperately to avoid this subject. The liberals want to protect Obama. The “conservatives” avoiding the subject don’t want to be accused of “McCarthyism” if they mention it. But thanks to Farah’s WorldNetDaily and other new media outlets, the story is coming out and won’t be ignored
Immagine,..our Country turning Communist,.....its well already underway,...... You Smart People,....Just refuse to see it,..let alone believe it.

Obama runs on the same old political rethoric. Change.........Bi-partisan politcs. Give everyone a voice. Listen to everyone's voice. Get along with everyone. No more politics as usual. Obama offers nothing but the same, cheap polical garbage offered up by countless candidates for office before him. He's just repackaged it, polished it and given it another name in hopes of fooling the easily fooled. If I wer you I would pray the Hillary is on the ticket as VP because without that, he won't win.

Why everyone loves to pin this on Obama is beyond me. He was chair of the committee that Bush originated. The Global Poverty Act was Bush's idea, and it was voted through by something like 95-99% approval from the Senate. Talk about a childish rant.

Well the reason everyone is mentioning "Obama" is because its the THREAD TOPIC,..LOL
And I keep reading that THE GLOBAL POVERTY ACT is Obamas idea,....not Bush's,..and that Obama wants to rush the Bill before Bush,....before he is out of Office, in order to get it passed. Please correct me, show me, where the info is located.
(I figured Obama would earmark it,..so that Obama himself could Pass the Bill,...and get double the credit,....but what do I know ?)
I gain a wonderful insight from reading these fourms, and love it when there are links to read the entire articles of information,....concerning Obama, and such like.
I dont mean to pick on Obama,......I like him no more than I like McCain,......I think that Obama is just another Politician that is well groomed, and throughly prepaired to give his speaches,...just like any other Politician should be,.....but I dont think that Obama is any more interested in helping the working class of America, than any other Presidential Canidate running, besides a certain man thats not gotten much Media coverage.
I do not dislike Obama due to his race,..or his mixture, of Races,....... I dislike him (and the rest) because all I hear is the same old Promises that we hear every Election, by all of the others running for office,....its basicly the same old retoric we've heard before,... just repackaged, Polished, and delivered slightly different, in a very refined and smooth talking Politician,....
I am NOT against America having a "BLACK",.....(or mixed race) man as our President,....I think its far over due,..and thats its only fair that everyone have the same equil rights, as everyone else,......but I want a man that stands for American Values,...a man that understands and believies in the Constitution, and has the morals and determination to be able to see our Country is on,..and has been on the wrong path, for many years,..that our economy is is the worst shape its ever been in,....and wants to repair the damage done first and formost,..before we worry about the i'lls of the rest of the world,....
America,...First,...and formost......
Obama,..may turn out to be the best thing to ever happen to this Country,.....maybe he CAN turn it around,.....if he is elected,....I wish him well,..and will support him as Commander and Chief,..as any Patriotic American, and Military Person should.
I do have a hidden desire, thats time has come and passed,....I, myself, as many others have dreamed of Colin Powell running for President,...but didnt,...and now with the humilation of the Bush Administration pulling his strings,....I can only hope that if Obama gains the Oval Office,......I hope and Pray that Obama can, and will be able to talk Powell into accecpting a position within his Administration.
You want it,..you got it,....OBAMA O8,.....I believe that no matter who does what, that Obama will be our next President,..reguardless.

Considering,.....these statements are in direct contridiction from the original document, in relationship to the Global Poverty Act.
Fact Sheet The Truth About the Global Poverty Act (S. 2433) breadfortheworld HAVE FAITH. END HUNGER http://www.bread.org/take-action/ol2008/gpa-fact-sheet.pdf
MYTH: The Global Poverty Act would commit the U.S. to spending 0.7 percent of its gross national product on foreign aid. This would require a new tax on all Americans. TRUTH: The legislation neither authorizes nor obligates the federal government to spend more money. Rather, it seeks to put our current foreign aid programs into a comprehensive strategy involving trade policy, debt cancellation, and private sector efforts to ensure that existing U.S. programs are more effective and efficient. The legislation calls for a strategy to determine the right mix of aid, trade and debt policies and investment. The strategy also includes the private sector, civil society organizations, and the developing countries themselves as critical components in global development. The Congressional Budget Office has estimated the bill would cost less than $1 million to implement.
MYTH: The Global Poverty Act would place pressure on the U.S. to ban small arms and weapons, and ratify the International Criminal Court Treaty, the Kyoto Protocol, the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child. TRUTH: The Global Poverty Act addresses only the eradication of extreme poverty and the first Millennium Development Goal (MDG), which aims to halve the proportion of people worldwide who live on less than $1 per day. The treaties referenced are from another document, the Millennium Declaration, signed by the U.S. in 2000 along with all the countries of the world. The Global Poverty Act does not address the issues in the Millennium Declaration and only focuses on U.S. efforts to alleviate extreme poverty.
I have went back, and tried to re-read the post by MG, to find where he says that the Global Poverty Act is Bush's baby, not Obama's,....and it ended up being late, and I was tired, so I will go back and try to re-read it again, to find the link between Bush, and the Global Poverty Act,....
When I did a search on the "G8 conference statement 2005", all I could find was a statement by Bush, condeming the terrorist acts in the UK,.... and the site mentions "GLOBAL WARMING",... but I couldnt find any mention of a "Global Poverty Act",....I will keep looking at MG's post, and see if I can find more.

| Barack Obama, the most Amazing cadidate4 president in decades makes a powerful speech today 3/18/08 Posted: 9/6/2008 8:09:16 AM | I'm proud the US is giving Obama a chance... We've come a long way... but even in the Bush administration, they never let race be an issue. You can say "Yeah, but look at the republican's politics...", but then ask yourself about the white people with the same political position as them....who never reached the platitudes they did in the Bush administration.
I hate Bush and his administration for almost everything they did.. but this is an exception. They didn't let color be a barrier.

| Barack Obama, the most Amazing cadidate4 president in decades makes a powerful speech today 3/18/08 Posted: 11/11/2008 1:07:15 PM | Obama has the most difficult job before him of any U.S. president since Franklin D. Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. But he has something to prove and it's readily apparent from his demeanor and the staunch determination in his eyes. No wonder he selected a wholesale ass kicker to be the White House office manager... this guy isn't being selected to reach across the aisle so much as he's there to keep the democratic congress in line... along with the republican side of the aisle too... they're all scared to death of him. And now that he's no longer in congress disrupting the place, they get to replace him with someone who will tow the line and be more willing to compromise.
Will Obama raise taxes? I'm sure he will... he has to... we have a $ 400 billion annual deficit and our national debt is over $ 10 trillion, so the only real question is to what extent will he raise taxes. Cutting taxes while overspending does not work... that's what we've done under the conservative republican movement for the last 25 years... it does not work! We've maxed out the credit card and now we barely have enough to pay the interest on the debt and have enough left over to effectively run the country. Obama has to come up with a combination of enough spending cuts and incremental tax revenue to equal $ 1350 for every man, woman and child just for the U.S. to annually break even... more if we're going to begin paying off this debt and not leaving it for our children and grandchildren. Considering the hard facts above, this whole idea that Obama is going to tax the middle class and just give money away to more people who don't work is idiotic at best.
One primary investment will likely be in a national energy policy focussed on renewable sources: solar, geothermal, wind and hydroelectric / tidal power... all a bit costly in initial capital investment but then there are no ongoing costs for fuel or waste and they can be established to have minimal effect on the environment. I suspect this could be as big a program as NASA going to the moon in the 60s and the developments from the research will spawn other industries long into the future. Drilling for more oil is a very short term solution and it distracts our focus from becoming energy independent. Additionally, to make this drilling economically worthwhile, the price has to stay high. And if you truly want security, then stop being a glutton for oil. Nuclear... VERY costly... the fuel is costly and is still a natural resource with a finite amount available, there is no good means to handle waste product... and still a chance for catastrophic risk... particularly when you consider terrorism. Coal... VERY costly to burn cleanly and it has all the same issues as oil... it's still a dirty natural resource.
Another investment will be early childhood education. I wouldn't be surprised to see formal public school education moving toward a starting age of 3 years old instead of 5 or 6. Research is clear, the earlier one starts childhood education, the more likely they will graduate high school and a better educated population will deliver a superior, globally-competitive economy in the future. I also wouldn't be surprised to see other educational incentives for students going to college in the areas of math and science.
Tax increases... no doubt the wealthiest 5% of the U.S. population is going to get hit. 3% of overall wealth has moved from the bottom 20% poor to the top 5% over the last 25 years. This can't happen any longer since it creates a class based society. I wouldn't be surprised to see some form of increased tax on corporations and personally on the executives if the top 10% or 20% of the employees receive a grossly disproportionate share of the business' wealth (e.g. no more $ 120 million parachutes for a single individual while the company is laying off employees). Chapter 11 bankruptcy laws also need changing such that if a company subsequently becomes profitable, it repays all or some of its old debt obligations. The result will be increased spending on capital improvements for the business... so the people at the top can make more if they have a bigger business with a bigger base of employees doing well. We absolutely must have incentives in place to re-tool our industries and to re-capture some of the industries that we've lost. Lower taxes on the wealthy means they can take the money out of the business at less cost and live a substantially better life style than the comparative rest of us... they have no incentive to increase their wealth by building a business... hence, big parachutes for executives.
Last but not least... the military... the budget will definitely be cut. The question is what parts of the budget in order to ensure continued security. I suspect we'll probably be less likely to enter war alone... but there will be more cooperative United Nations efforts... and we'll focus more on individual, covert missions and a substantial, new peace corps. More young, better educated Americans will travel to underprivileged parts of the world to work and educate and establish better relationships with their populations. Like healthcare, if you want to avoid getting sick then you have to work on staying healthy... and if you want to avoid war, you have to work on bringing peace and prosperity and tolerance to the world.
I think we've elected Robert F. Kennedy in black skin as the U.S. President. "Some men see things as they are and say why. I dream things that never were and say why not?"

| Barack Obama, the most Amazing cadidate4 president in decades makes a powerful speech today 3/18/08 Posted: 12/7/2008 9:22:32 PM | [quite]BUT ITS NOT LIKE HE WAS BORN HERE!
Born in the U.S.A. August 21, 2008 Updated: November 1, 2008 The truth about Obama's birth certificate. Summary In June, the Obama campaign released a digitally scanned image of his birth certificate to quell speculative charges that he might not be a natural-born citizen. But the image prompted more blog-based skepticism about the document's authenticity. And recently, author Jerome Corsi, whose book attacks Obama, said in a TV interview that the birth certificate the campaign has is "fake."
We beg to differ. FactCheck.org staffers have now seen, touched, examined and photographed the original birth certificate. We conclude that it meets all of the requirements from the State Department for proving U.S. citizenship. Claims that the document lacks a raised seal or a signature are false. We have posted high-resolution photographs of the document as "supporting documents" to this article. Our conclusion: Obama was born in the U.S.A. just as he has always said.
Update, Nov. 1: The director of Hawaii’s Department of Health confirmed Oct. 31 that Obama was born in Honolulu.
This myth that Obama is not US citizen is still actually believed by some people?
We think our colleagues at PolitiFact.com, who also dug into some of these loopy theories put it pretty well: "It is possible that Obama conspired his way to the precipice of the world’s biggest job, involving a vast network of people and government agencies over decades of lies. Anything’s possible. But step back and look at the overwhelming evidence to the contrary and your sense of what’s reasonable has to take over."
In fact, the conspiracy would need to be even deeper than our colleagues realized. In late July, a researcher looking to dig up dirt on Obama instead found a birth announcement that had been published in the Honolulu Advertiser on Sunday, Aug. 13, 1961:
Obama's birth announcement
The announcement was posted by a pro-Hillary Clinton blogger who grudgingly concluded that Obama "likely" was born Aug. 4, 1961 in Honolulu.
Of course, it's distantly possible that Obama's grandparents may have planted the announcement just in case their grandson needed to prove his U.S. citizenship in order to run for president someday. We suggest that those who choose to go down that path should first equip themselves with a high-quality tinfoil hat. The evidence is clear: Barack Obama was born in the U.S.A.

The white majority of America are stupid if you think Barack Obama is good for the USA. You're nothing but white sheep being led to the slaughter by him.
erm....... sorry to burst the bubble, but we've already been led to slaughter under Shrub/Cheney/Rumsy/Rovey.
Just for the sake of reference..... check the DOW, friend.
Nothing like a little race baiting before going off into conspiracy nut territory. Echo, echo, echo....... Kinda quiet in the political forums these days.
