Posted: 5/2/2008 2:32:02 PM | Looking good as the days go by. We are at the half-way point. Looks like we will make a 100 people. Will be posting in a couple weeks, events for this. Now you don't have to do them, can come and leave anytime you want. Go for a walk to falls or fish anytime. The only time I have set, is eating at noon so far. Also would like everyone to bring a desert dish to share, it didn't have to be big, just enough for 5-7 people to share, that way hope everybody can get a desert beside there own.

That sounds great, know some Ladies didn't like it they were outnumbering the MEN. Don't worry, still about 4 weeks away and more will sign up as get closer. It's warming up and people are getting outside more.

Over the weekend made a drive to the park.
... They have 2 parking lots, one holds cars next to pavilion and restrooms, also next to trails to falls, you can go 2 ways.
..The first lot will hold 42 cars, the next lot, which they call the overflow lot, will hold another 40 plus cars, it's about 1/4 mile away ,on the right side, to where you come in.
Talk to the Ranger, has said never had no trouble fitting everybody and has had 100 plus along at pavilion for a Reunion. I have reserve it for 100.
Also will mention about 10-15 yards away, is a playground for young kids to play in. You can sit at picnic table and watch you kid or kids play.
Some have asked me, about what age kids so far, the only one I know is a 16 year old girl. I know in this day and age you have to be carefull, so how to answer this I don't know? Any ideals.
Will be posting events and any help I need next weekend, May 17-18.

You are about 2 hours 15 min. from this park.
You can come from I-75 TO I-40 to park!
Are cut across Tn. and come up from the South. There is a difference of about 40 miles, the time is the same because your going faster on the Interstate.
You tell me which way you want to go, I will send you direction's.
You live South-East from the Park! The Park is off of I-40 between Nashville and Knoxville, 8 miles South of Cookeville, Tn.

A few people have asked me and I do need help!
Will post about 2 weeks out what kind of help I need and let people sign up for time slot's. That way you are not spending all there time there, doing the same thing.
Most of time will be on your own to walk falls trail and fish. The trail next to falls only 2 people can walk side by side, you are in shade that whole time, they have a road that is block from car traffic, from picnic area to main falls, took me 10 minutes to make walk there. You have to be able to walk well to make the walk next to all 4 falls.

Maybe CW will let us know soon on what he has planned out for us. I am a little surprised not more gents have signed up. Ladies, looks like they kinda of planned it to have 3 to 1 ratio, huh???

Posted: 5/18/2008 11:47:28 AM | Hi all was there recently, you can walk the maintenance road which is fairly easy terrain to the over look of the bigger of the falls for all that aren't up to a hike, just a walk down a country road will get you there.
There is a camp ground a few miles away on Center hill lake it's called Ragland Bottoms, they charge but have tent camping and RV's with baths and showers, it is off Hwy 70 toward Smithville.
Can't say for sure that I can be there, I get busy that time of year, but I plan on trying. | |

I had thought about bringing mine, but have decided against it, only because if I do happen to be lucky enough to meet up with someone, I don't want my children exposed at that point. But that is just my personal opinion, not judging anyone that does bring theirs. I know that there are going to be lots of things to see that the children would enjoy, so after this trip, I plan on taking them there and spend one on one with them.
Good question though, and great way to find out if anyone else is intending to bring children. Be careful driving up (and over) and look forward to meeting with ya!

You are about 88 miles North a little North-West of this State Park.
Just google Maps and than put your town as the start point, and Cookeville Tn as the final. Burgess State Park is 8 miles South of Cookeville Tn. I gave the directions from Cookeville to this park on page 1 !

Well here goes, I know most people are watching the weather to determine if they come or not, That's O.K.
I know some people who sign up, something will happen for them not to show. Some that didn't sign up, will show and ifs a great turn-out, will stay. Either way it's O.K. It's a Public State Park, as I have said. The only thing I have rented is the pavilion for our picnic, and also cover if it rains or shade if it gets to hot.
As of today, May 21, it breaks down like this ,if everybody shows who sign up.

I did this to let people know general age of people in there group. Not to get anybody upset, it's on there profile.

I will need help from 9-10 a.m to sign people up and give them a # ticket.
10 a.m. to 12 noon have plan speed dating, that's why the age breakdown and how many from each group. For people who don't know what this is, will explain there.
12 to 1 P.M. Lunch.
1 to 2:30 walk the falls, note really from the time after lunch on will be all yours. Due to me finding out limited space at park. Was told playground took area where they allow volleyball, so can't as of now. This is one of the smallest State parks, will plan on a bigger one for next time. Wanted to see how this one went. Also would like to have overnight camping for those who want to stay more than a day. Also a area where we can do more things, example, swimming, campfire at night. Sorry this is not gonna happen, but still come and we can at least meet than you will see about meeting again.

One last thing, I forgot. Please bring a Desert dish to share. It would only have to be something for 5-7 other people to share,. That way besides your own meal you can get a share of other people desert's.
This is a bring your own lunch, and drinks you are going to use that day. Remember, you don't have to bring a desert, but if you don't please be fair and don't go threw the desert line.
