This is beginning to look like a great gathering. It's 2 weeks out and we have almost 80 signed up, that's not counting if they bring somebody.

Posted: 5/25/2008 8:16:01 AM | I know that this has been mentioned before, but never seen any posts regarding the replies to it. Chickadee1126 mentioned music and I think it would be great to have an acoustic old fashion pick 'n grin. I personally, unfortunately, do not play any instrument and somtimes the dogs have a tendancy to howl when I sing, but still love to get together with some good music. I know that some people are uncomfortable playing around people whom they do not know, but if someone is game, bring your instruments.
Maybe someone will take the lead and respond to this post that can play an instrument or give their ideas on this. I look forward to meeting ya'll there and looking forward to it being a beautiful day! I hope that everyone is having a great Memorial Day weekend and remember to stay safe.

Good Question! Since the park is in Central time, I'm going by there time, so for the ones n Eastern time zone, it will be 10-7 if they stay the whole time. Central of course 9-6, if your in that time zone. Thanks again, somebody from Eastern might of came a hour early. They can, the park opens at 8:00 Central and closes a half-hour before sunset.

Well if everybody comes and some bring a friend, will have over a 100. Hope the weather holds up, for us and is a nice day.
Have good news for people who like to fish. Saturday (June 7th) is free fishing day in Tn. so you don't have to have a license to fish in Tn, even if you are not a resident of this state. Saturday is just free fishing day for Adults. The kids have Sat., till Friday(June 13), if your kid is 15 or younger. Just wanted people to know, for the ones that like to fish.

For all of you traveling a long distance you might want to check the weather with www.accuweather.com and type in the zip code of 38506 to get the true weather for that area. Not sure if they open the park up if there are thunderstorms, hail or tornado warnings and watches. Since I live 3 miles from the place I can tell you if there is a storm within 20 miles of here it comes right dead center thru this area. | |

Well Thanks for the heads up, on the long range forecast. I'm sure thats why a few people have not signed up, there looking at the weather.
Also why I got the pavilion, just in case it rains. A pop up shower as we call it. Very rare does it seem we get a all day rain, more like a passing thunderstorm. Now it is wise to look to see, but I'm going with it being 4 days out it will be a nice day. Think positive.!! See you all there.

P.S. As for the worse storms, I'm sure the rangers at the park will tell those there if bad weather is coming in, it's not that big of a park, only 4 rangers.

See I told you to have faith. They change Sat. weather, to 90's and no rain, moved it to Sunday. Really, they have trouble with that days weather, you think I'm going to look 4 days out. Will be there no matter what the weather is.
Just a heads up, if your bring a desert, make sure you bring something to scoop it out, if need be. Also mark you desert container, with your name, so if all isn't eaten, you can take home.
Remember to clean up after yourself, there is no maid and will have to leave the area like it was as we came. There are trash barrels there. Please use them after yourself. Thanks ahead of time. Bring enough to drink and eat for yourselves. There are not concession stands there. LOL!
I will bring spoons, and forks, and plates for deserts, also napkins.
Try to remember also to bring a pencil or pen for the speed dating game, I don't want to buy 100 for all, will bring something for all to write on.

Looking forward to meeting people and having a GREAT time.
To tell you all the truth didn't expect it to get so HOT, so fast and keep climbing. It should be in the 80's in June, not 90's and heat index so high. Am still going to be there at 9:00 A.M. Central time to start. Do not want anybody getting heat exhaustion. So bring plenty of fluids and stay in the shade if the sun gets to hot for you. Like I said before, the trail to all 4 falls is tree lined, so you would be in the shade if you take that trail. They do have a access road that leads to the main falls, that takes 10 min. to walk.
Will be eating lunch about 12 (noon).
Will have booklets to look at, so if you would like to have another one will have paper there to list your vote for a park. Like I said before would like a place to swim, play volleyball, maybe a camp fire or camp-out. Know there are alot parks in Tn, wanted to see how a gathering would go. Do know in today's world, some people do smoke, some don't. some drink, some don't, just trying to get people together to have a good time.

Posted: 6/6/2008 7:54:29 PM | I still plan on attending and will be there at 9 am. Maybe not sharp, but as close to that time as driving the distance will allow. I did mention before about not bringing my children, but will be bringing my 11 yr old daughter who is really wanting to see the butterfly garden. I am bringing my kids favorite dessert and hope that it will be acceptable with everyone. Shall I tell now??? Yeah, why not. I am bringing a Pineapple Upside-Down Cake. I hope that all will like it as much as they do. 
I am glad to know that the weather is cooperating, but wish it wasn't going to be as hot as they claim. See you all soon............
