| Movie moments...what's yours? Posted: 3/20/2008 4:29:27 PM | We'd been moving shrubs and trees all morning in back of our property. He was sitting high up in the seat of a big backhoe, engine rumbling, looking down at me on the ground, trying to hear me, as I was waving my arms indicating which tree and bushes go where. When I was through animating the instructions, he sat there looking at me for a bit, then reached down and turned the engine off -- it rumbled and chugged to a stop and he continued to study me for a bit, and said matter of factly ... "most women just move their furniture."
His delivery/style and humor made for many great memories.

| Movie moments...what's yours? Posted: 3/20/2008 5:16:12 PM | I was doing clinicals for my nursing degree at a hospital. A group of us students were going to take our lunch break. I was about maybe 35 years old. we were waiting on the elevator to come up, when it opened, I looked up and into the bluest eyes I ever saw. Our eyes just locked, and i stood there. ...It was McDreamy (Obviously could be a scene from Grey's Anatomy) I knew one woman, when our eyes first met, the world stood still. I'll never forget that ever and I know, that was a moment of once in a lifetime. When we think back at those moments, sometimes you wonder why you didn't do anything. But then again, like OP's experience, best to leave alone and cherish. | |

| Movie moments...what's yours? Posted: 3/20/2008 5:24:46 PM | When he surprised me on Valentine's Day by driving five hours to take me out to dinner. The entire evening was like a movie.......
...another movie moment was when I got the promotion I'd been working for for nine years. It was just like the scene near the end of "Working Girl" when the girls stand up and cheer for Melanie Griffith.............when I got "the letter", the girls made me read it out loud and then the entire department broke into cheers.......

| Movie moments...what's yours? Posted: 3/20/2008 5:47:35 PM | I have three that come to mind:
I was in NYC eating in a famous restaurant with a very special lady. I noticed that this women was starring at us and all of a sudden she said look up. I did and there was a sign above " Harry met Sally here"
Many years ago in Brooklyn we were knocked out with a heavy snow storm on a Friday evening. It was crazy to even go out yet drive a car. But my baby wanted to see me. So I hoped in my car with 2 feet of snow and took a normally 20 min ride in three hours to see her.
One movie does stand out in my mind. Reminded me of my marriage. "Deer Hunter" with Robert De Nero. Hearing someone yelling and not understanding what the heck they are saying and you have a gun to your head and just keep pulling the trigger. But the bullet is never in the right spot to end it. So you have to play this game every day to survive.

| Movie moments...what's yours? Posted: 3/20/2008 6:44:33 PM | I had a major movie moment. This was back when I was working at a record store. I was around 19/20. Well this gorgeous blond was walking around lost, so I approached her (nervous as hell) and asked if she needed help. Time and space melted away, and all I could see was her beautiful face; the background literally faded to blur. I don't even know if I was listening to her.
Anyway, my manager had asked me to cover the register. Lo and behold, my blond beauty comes to my counter, and I am literally shaking. After she left, I immediately regretted not leaving the line of customers to get her number, so I sat there serving customers all broken-hearted.
Well, a week or two later, one of my coworkers mentioned a girlfriend that came in once and was interested in me. Seeing as how this guy was a dork, I figured she'd be a dog, so I asked him to bring her in, but not say anything to her; I just wanted to see if I was interested. I'm sure you can guess who it was and what happened shortly thereafter.
The ending to this relationship was quite movie-worthy too. After 3 beautiful years, I had suspected that she was cheating on me (at this point we had 2 hours distance between us as she was going to school in Long Island). So I drove out to Long Island and broke up with her. It was the most painful thing I'd ever done. The sheer poetry of letting go of who you loved is what a great tragedy is made of! Well, minus the poisoning, that is.

| Movie moments...what's yours? Posted: 3/20/2008 6:59:39 PM | My movie moment would be more like the Twilight Zone.....
A couple years back I was a pen pal to a Navy sailor out to sea for 6 mths. We emailed almost everyday and I really shared some personal stuff with him. Well, we planned on meeting when he came back to San Diego. The last email I got from him was him telling me that his ship was about to dock back in SD in over a week. Never got another email.
Fast forward over a year and I'm emailing with someone here on the site and he wants to meet. We meet up and were walking along the beach when he asks me if I was ever a pen pal to (insert his name). I said yeah, and he says, well thats me! I was shocked, embarrassed and then upset because I felt used when I never heard from him again. He told me he had had another pen pal at the time and met her instead. They were together for a few months until she left him for another guy. I will admit THAT did give me some satifaction. What goes around comes around. I wished him well and headed for my car. He even had the gull to ask if he could see me again. Ahh......

| Movie moments...what's yours? Posted: 3/20/2008 7:34:25 PM | We went out on an early Northern Alberta Spring morning to tear down an old corral. We could see our breath. We were both wearing a couple of layers under our coveralls.
As the sun rose higher, the morning wore on & we continued to pull nails & pile up rails & posts, we shed coveralls, sweatshirts, sweat pants, long underwear, T-shirts... until we were working side by side in the unseasonable Spring sun, me in bra & panties & him in tighty whiteys, both of us in Sorrel boots.

| Movie moments...what's yours? Posted: 3/21/2008 12:33:54 AM | Mine would be a Comedy movie moment.. but memorable none the less. I met my husband to be when we were in highschool and I was still very innocent. Several months into our relationship, he had planned a romantic evening *smiles* of listening to records and drinking cokes in his bedroom. One thing led to another however, he wanted the lights on... I wanted them off. As a compromise I asked him to put his bathrobe over his bedroom lamp so at least it wasn't so bright. Up he gets and throws his robe on top of the lamp shade... ahh perfect ambiance!
Right in the middle of things, I smell smoke and look over ~ to see that his bathrobe had caught on fire. After we put out the flames.. we laughed our asses off.
Our little inferno may have ruined the moment but we stayed together for three more decades so I guess it didn't cause all that much damage :0)

| Movie moments...what's yours? Posted: 3/21/2008 4:37:11 AM | yeah.. it was awfull. it was actually a break up, but it was like a movie moment.. i felt like it was in a script..
well i was living with my boyfriend, then one night we talked, and decided our relationship wasnt going anywhere.. well we both cried, and while i was waiting for my dad to pick me up, we acted normal.. just sat on the sofa cuddeling.. and saying how much we loved each other.. then when i got up to leave, he walked me to the door, we kissed, looked at each other for a second.. then he watched me walk away...

| Movie moments...what's yours? Posted: 3/21/2008 7:12:20 AM | Ah, yes, this thread has brought to mind a moment from about 35 years ago!
It was a mild spring day.We were riding in my '63 Dodge Dart convertable, with the top down, enjoying the nice weather. We were meandering along a winding, semi-rural road and were sitting three across in the front seat with my buddy in the passanger seat and his girlfriend in the middle. She was talking and using her hands to demonstrate her point when she inadvertently hit my cigarette, causing the lit end to drop down in between my legs. I lifted my butt up off of the seat and proceded to flail away with my right hand, trying to prevent a minor brush fire and personal injury, while keeping my left hand on the steering wheel. My buddy yells at me and I look up to see that I've drifted left into the oncoming lane and from around the bend in the road is a police car coming straight at me! I quickly jerk the car back into my own lane and watch in the mirror as the overhead lights on the police car come to life and its brake lights come on. Oh boy, here we go, I say to myself, this is going to be awkward at best. I just knew I was going to get a ticket for this nonsense. Sure enough, the police car is quickly right behind me and I pull over, shaking my head in utter frustration and angst. I had managed to avoid the physical burn but it seems that I was going to take a financial burning on this one. I'm pulling my wallet out of my rear pant pocket when I hear the officer address me by name. Surprised, I look up to see Joe, an officer that often worked security at the supermarket where I worked. After a brief recap of events leading to this misadventure, a shake of Joe's head and a roll of his eyes after hearing my story and I managed to be on my way with only a warning and some fatherly advice.

| Movie moments...what's yours? Posted: 3/21/2008 5:12:17 PM | I have a couple....
1) I was seeing this guy who totally blew me away. We were at a small bar one night just talking and laughing and he went outside for a cigarette. We could see each other through a very large window. He called me on his cell phone and said, "I miss you."
I said, "I'm right here.
He said, "But you're not right here."
When he came in, he played a song on the jukebox, grabbed my hand, and in the midst of this very small bar, we danced while he sang me that song... his lips against mine.
2) I was supposed to meet someone at the casino. I didn't think there was anything there between us, but he wanted to see me, so we were supposed to meet upstairs by the railing. I was walking down the hallway and came out onto the floor... saw him standing there, and as I walked to him, I could feel it.... this undeniable energy between us. We were attached at the hip from that moment on.
Sigh,

| Movie moments...what's yours? Posted: 3/21/2008 5:36:47 PM | Mine happened when I was in old jeans and T-shirt too. I was cleaning the house and had my rubber gloves on. I went out of the front door to put out the garbage and before I knew it, the door slammed. Of course the first thing out of my mouth was "S h i i i i i t". Just as I said this a voice behind me said "do you need a hand?" I turned around and couldn't believe my eyes..... there stood my knight in shining armour! I was blown away, he was so handsome and sexy. He was also funny and kind and went to his house to get a ladder so I could get into the upstairs window, he even offered to go through the window for me, even though said he was terrified of heights! Actually I had a very strategic rip in the ass of my jeans, so I think he appreciated that I wouldn't let him!
Unfortunately as it turned out he was married, but we became friends and I always called him my KISA!

| Movie moments...what's yours? Posted: 3/22/2008 7:26:16 AM | Oops... forgot one...
He and I had seen each other at a POF single's mingle. He was talking to someone else that night, but he wasn't taking his eyes off of me, and I couldn't stop looking at him. He's just met her that night, but I didn't want to interfere, so my friends and I left that night without even a hello between he and I.
But, the very next day he favorited me. The day after that, I said hello and we began talking on the phone. It was already magical... we talked for hours at a time. Still I never count those chickens... you never know until you meet face to face.
One night a couple weeks later, he text msg'd me because he was out on a date he had made prior to talking to me. He kept saying he wished he was with me. After she left the bar that night, he text msg'd me again and said that he was on his way. He said enough was enough and he couldn't wait until New Year's Eve for our first date/meeting... and he was halfway there already.
I'd never been nervous before. But this time was different. When he called to tell me he was parking the car, my whole insides were shaking. And.... when he walked through that door and smiled at me from across that crowded club... I knew. His eyes, his smile, they got me.
I was right... from that night on, we were attached at the hip.

| Movie moments...what's yours? Posted: 3/25/2008 4:40:59 PM | Our whole relationship is movie material.
We met at a drum circle, he was dancing passionately. I bumped into him and grabbed him and kissed him. 30 minutes later we were at it in the bushes. He called later that night.
One time we met after 2 weeks at the subway station, in the pouring rain, and ran back to his place. We didnt make it to the apartment - we stopped in the pathway and he pushed me against the fence and ****ed me there in the pouring rain with cars whooshing by behind us.
Also, he goes to university in Guelph. I was at home one night alone watching TV and I heard a tap at the door and I see him spontaneously framed in the window with an inch of snow piled up on him.

| Movie moments...what's yours? Posted: 4/8/2008 6:37:47 PM | Oh, I'll never forget it!
It was 1989. I was at a New Year's Eve party but not really having much fun because I was thinking about this guy I’d known for years. We’d become good friends after a tenuous start but kind of blew it by sleeping together one time. (Now don't be getting all judgey and preach on us - you know how it is!) I was putting in a valiant effort but I just couldn't fake being happy so I decided to leave just before midnight to avoid all that unnecessary smoochiness with strangers.
Well, I’ll never forget what happened next. I could hear Harry Connick Jr. singing his version of “It Had to be You” as I was leaving. And then... you are sooo not gonna believe this!... out of nowhere this very guy that I’d been thinking about comes running up to me... all out of breath because he had just raced across the city to find me at this party before midnight. I couldn’t frikking believe it!
So he says to me: “I've been doing a lot of thinking. And the thing is, I love you.”
And I go: “What?”
And then he says it again: “I love you.”
So then I ask: “How do you expect me to respond to this?”
He goes: “How about you love me too?”
Then I go: “How about I'm leaving?” ('cause I'm kind of snarky like that)
He then asks: “Doesn't what I said mean anything to you?
Then I tell him: “I'm sorry, I know it's New Years Eve, I know you're feeling lonely, but you just can't show up here, tell me you love me and expect that to make everything alright. It doesn't work this way.”
He asks: “Well, how does it work?”
I said: “I don't know… but not this way.”
Then he says: “Well, how about this way? I love that you get cold when it's 71 degrees out... I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich... I love that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you're looking at me like I'm nuts... I love that after I spend a day with you I can still smell your perfume on my clothes... and I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night. And it's not because I'm lonely, and it's not because it's New Year's Eve. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of the life to start as soon as possible.”
Then I said: “You see... that is just like you. You say things like that and you make it impossible for me to hate you. And I hate you... I really hate you. I hate you.”
And then all of a sudden we could hear that the clock had struck midnight... and we smiled at each other... and then we kissed and made up while Auld Lang Syne played in the background.
And then he stops and asks: “What does this song mean? For my whole life I don't know what this song means. I mean, 'Should old acquaintance be forgot'. Does that mean we should forget old acquaintances or does it mean if we happen to forget them we should remember them, which is not possible because we already forgot them!?"
And then I said: “Well, maybe it just means that we should remember that we forgot them or something. Anyway, it's about old friends.”
And we smiled at each other again and leaned in for another kiss and I thought “Gosh, this is just the most romantic New Year’s Eve ever!” and then… oh, wait a minute. That’s not [my most memorable New Year’s Eve… that’s When Harry Met Sally.
Never mind. | |

| Movie moments...what's yours? Posted: 4/8/2008 6:44:51 PM | In my mid 20's I had been dating a medical secretary for over a year, and it was Valentine's day.
She decided, mid afternoon, to call a local florist and have some roses delivered to my home. The look on her face was one I will never forget as I walked into her office, carrying a bunch of roses, while she was on the phone to the florist.
