| fess up to your favorate wierd sammy Posted: 3/26/2008 2:33:23 PM | Hmmmm, grilled cheese & avocado: either white or sourdough bread (nice and toasted), american cheese, goat cheese, & avocado sliced thin... the american cheese gets all melty and holds it all together.... mmmm
Hard boiled egg sammie: 2 hard boiled eggs cut into slices, your choice of bread ( i like whole grain for texture), lots of mayo, salt, & pepper. yummmm
I like my pb&j with cream cheese.
OH~ toasted cheesy bean bread! toasted white bread, buttered, with baked beans & sharp cheddar cheese open faced. Put under broiler so the cheese gets all melty... messy but o so good!
I also like summer sausage, pickles, & cheddar cheese together... I know it sounds really weird but it will surprise you!

| fess up to your favorate wierd sammy Posted: 3/26/2008 6:42:57 PM | Cornbread Stuffing Sandwich yuuumm White Bread (you can go healthy if you want) stuffing and maaaybe some gelled cranberry sauce--and maybe not. No mayo needed, but it's awfully good on it. And my alltime favorite (is it?? hmmmmm...no, not just 1 favorite): Sweet onions thinly sliced on white bread with Best Foods mayonnaise Bread just spread with Duke's Relish Avocado sliced and then smeared thickly all over bread of any kind--rye is fabulous but so is just about any other kind as well Sliced cucumbers on bread with or without butter or mayo Butter, peanut butter, mayonnaise and marmalade on toast-- sounds just awful but was really good Quesadilla-just good cheese on a tortilla heated on a griddle Phony sweets: Tortilla, buttered, sprinkled with sugar and grilled | |

| fess up to your favorate wierd sammy Posted: 3/29/2008 3:17:03 PM | Ok, here's a real good one. Hot sandwich for a cold night. Measurements? Use the "is that enough" size. First take some olive oil and place it into a cold frying pan. heat till a drop of water sizzles. Next chop some onion and brown it in the oil (add your favorite dry spices ie garlic powder, onion salt, seasoning salt) Next take some deli bought roast beef, ham, turkey and summer sausage and chop them finely all together. Add them to the pan and cook and stir till start of sizzling. Take a hogie roll and peel out the inside and coat with butter. Lay on top of the meat (a little pressure helps). When the roll is soft, remove it to a plate and lay on a slice of Swiss, Mozzarella or your favorite cheese and coat with the onion meat mixture. Consume with a glass of Moscato d'Asti and repeat is necessary.

First take some olive oil and place it into a cold frying pan. heat till a drop of water sizzles. A drop of water, in even not so hot oil, will not sizzle, but splutter. And that can be dangerous. Can you please clarify if that is what you meant?

Make your favorite sammy, then before you close it up, sprinkle with toasted sesame oil and curry powder. How do you toast sesame oil?

| fess up to your favorate wierd sammy Posted: 4/2/2008 6:36:40 PM | Last year we had a thread similar to this one but the OP asked for weird sammies you had as a kid....here was my list:
1. Peanut butter, bacon and maple syrup on toasted or plain white bread. 2. Bacon Bunnies...Cheez Whiz on toast, add cooked bacon and put under the broiler until bubbling..I still eat these as comfort food 3. Cheez Whiz and raw yellow onion...my Dad's fave...we wouldn't touch them. 4. Fried baloney on white toast with ketchup on one side and mustard and relish on the other. 5. Peanut butter, grated cheddar and raisins on white bread. 6. Grilled cheese with a slice of baloney and dill pickles in the centre. 7. Peanut butter and honey. 8. Toast with caramel spread or cinnamon spread (these might be just Canadian things...I still see the cinnamon spread but alas...no caramel spread which was just like the stuff you put on ice cream but much thicker). 9. Klik or Kam (Canadian versions of Spam) on really soft white bread with just salt and pepper...you could fancy it up with ketchup or mustard or even Miracle Whip. 10. Bacon with ketchup. 11. Meatball sandwiches on a long Italian bun with mozzerella cheese, heated in a pizza oven.
I confess that I still eat all but #3; my version has red onions not yellow. President's Choice (Loblaw's, Superstore) now makes a dulce de leche spread that is to die for..much better than the caramel spread of the old days....I LOVE the stuff on toast. I also love Nutella on toast and I think I want to try TT's Nutella sammie with pb and banana...sounds great!!

| fess up to your favorate wierd sammy Posted: 4/3/2008 10:34:54 AM | - Frig the pineapple slices first . Excellent in the summertime .
pineapple and mayo on white bread cucumber and mayo on white bread
Pickled (vinegar/a little salt/sugar) cucumbers/sweet onions is a goody with deviled eggs .
Another one of mine is meat spaghetti sauce sammitch . Actually not too weird considering meatball subs .

| fess up to your favorate wierd sammy Posted: 4/3/2008 11:28:02 AM | As a kid: bread w/ketchup and baloney.
Now: bread w/mayo, cheddar, sliced dill pickles, and baloney. YUM!!!
Also I still eat tomato sandwiches all summer long - mayo and tomatoes on bread w/salt and pepper.
How about cream cheese as a condiment? I used to eat cream cheese and raisin sandwiches, cream cheese and cucumber sandwiches, and my mom also ate cream cheese and olive sandwiches. (I think olives should be banned from our world unless they are used for olive oil)
Mmmm and ham salad - get an old fashioned hand grinder and grind up beef baloney and some dill pickles. Mix w/mayo. I could eat that every freakin' day!

| fess up to your favorate wierd sammy Posted: 4/21/2008 4:16:10 PM | Ok, Y'all got my PB & Bacon so my back up I haven't seen yet is PB & onion. These days I prefer Vidalia onions, but any are good. Oh, and PB & potato chips is pretty good too.
I also like PB & onion on hot dogs.
All you pork people, pork was made for fruit! Doesn't matter what fruit you use, it's all good with pork.
