This stuff is so good it's nasty, nothing like it. You can also do the peanut butter on bread, and then the molasses over it if you are in the mood for something real fancy.... I bet bananas would be awesome on it too....

| fess up to your favorate wierd sammy Posted: 4/21/2008 5:11:04 PM | first off I think its wierd to call a sandwich a sammy, unless you are under 10 years old peanut butter is good with many things,I saw lettuce pb listed, also cheez whiz & pb which sounds good and makes sense since thee are cheese & pb crackers,I like tomato and pb,also pickle & pb is great too. | |

As for Peanut Butter, my great Grandfather swore it was the best thing you could eat, and he put it on everything, cukes, pancakes, even tried it in soups. He lived to 99 yrs, how wrong could he be?

| fess up to your favorate wierd sammy Posted: 4/25/2008 9:03:14 PM | A lot of the sandwiches mentioned so far have sounded very... bad. Disgusting, actually. In the U.K. they call them 'Sarnie', don't know why. I have heard 'sammich' too. silly.
But I thought I was the only one that liked the toast with pb and bologna on one side and mayo and tomato on the other. Everyone I have ever met would never try it. I have never tried to put cheese or onion or lettuce (or anything else for that matter) on it. It's messy enough as is.
How about: flat bread (or any bread), thick layer of cream cheese, thin deli ham, onion, pickle, and celery? I got the idea when an older sister was spreading cream cheese on thin ham and wrapping scallions or thin sliced pickle for h'ordourves, they would slice it and serve with toothpicks (called goats nuts) I decided it might make a good sandwich.
Bagels make excellant sandwiches, toasted or untoasted, without the lettuce and tomato of course, too thick to fit in ones mouth. Just lots of different meats and cheeses and mayo.
My favorite is leftover Easter ham, grilled in a frying pan, on bagel halves smothered in chedder, and mozzarella melted under the broiler part of a toaster oven. Must be eaten a half at a time.
Another favorite is: French toast, loaded with thin honey ham and swiss, melted, sprinkled with powdered sugar, dipped in maple syrup... Oh wait, has that been done before?? LOL!
(Monte Christo anyone??)
How about: Bread, braunschweiger, avocado, lettuce, mayo, and bean sprouts? Avocado and butter on bread was a fave of my mothers, so was tomato and mayo, cucumber and mayo. I need some kind of protein on my sandwich for it to count as a sandwich though.
My son and I sometimes have 'slam' sandwiches, just bread and bologna, on the go :)

Butter the bread , butter side down in teflon pan...some miracle whip spread on each inside of bread. Place your eggs on , lay over this velveeta cheese slices (: the thick ones ..the best! make like grill cheese. If you have bacon fried....put it between the eggs and cheese slices then grill as you would grill cheese!!!!!!!! yummy...breakfast , lunch or dinner! Tomatoe in the summer just as good!

| fess up to your favorate wierd sammy Posted: 4/25/2008 10:23:28 PM | | It has to be peanut butter and bananas...healthy and good too. Another one...Oh God I haven't eaten this way for a long time...but cheez whiz (it had to be Kraft cheez whiz of course) and strawberry jam used to be a favorite of mine too. | |

| fess up to your favorate wierd sammy Posted: 4/25/2008 10:45:59 PM | I've seen a couple of these listed already, but here are mine:
1) Peanut butter (creamy) and banana 2) Banana w/mayo (NOT Miracle Whip) 3) Chicken salad with diced tart, green apples or pears 4) Cream cheese with strawberry jam 5) Cold, leftover meatloaf on white bread
My mom used to make these: 1) White bread toasted in the oven with melted butter, sugar, and cinnamon. And, she wondered WHY her kids were hyperactive 2) An open-faced sandwich, toasted in the oven with a slice of American cheese, pork 'n beans, and two strips of bacon criss-crossed on top. Had to eat it with a fork, but YUMMY!

| fess up to your favorate wierd sammy Posted: 4/26/2008 8:00:39 PM | | ..In the south, we call that cinnamon toast (late breakfast with cold milk)--but the best is always a hot biscuit with honey or molassas.. oh, sandwiches, not so weird--on a croisaint, cream cheese, ham and pineapple----------yum..great with mimosas | |

| fess up to your favorate wierd sammy Posted: 4/27/2008 12:14:16 PM | When I was a kid, my older brother made us (me and my other three siblings) sour cream and banana sandwiches with sugar sprinkled on it.... This thread just reminded me of that, (I am on my way to the market now for some white bread, sour cream and banana's!) I usually keep the healthier breads in the house but I cant wait to try that again, dont think it would taste as good with my multigrain breads.lol is it true that Wonderbread went out of business? | |

| fess up to your favorate wierd sammy Posted: 4/28/2008 10:01:47 AM | | OMG!!! Thought i'd never find another who ate PB & pickles. Have been doing this for 40+ years. Always used mom's homemade dills, but now have taken it a step further....the best is Claussen garlic dills with crunchy pb.mmmmmmmm! People think those of us with developed "good taste" are loony....they only need get the goofy ideas out of their head, and try the best. Another old time fave, radish sandwich..buttered bread , sliced radish and a sprinkle of salt. | |

| fess up to your favorate wierd sammy Posted: 4/28/2008 2:48:50 PM | When i was a kid i made mashed potato sandwiches with plenty of butter. I've been reminded because i've just used up some mashed potato in a sandwich with cheese. Great! First mashed potato sandwich for more than 40 years, and with cheese it's even better! Next time i'm putting a fried egg in too! | |

| fess up to your favorate wierd sammy Posted: 4/28/2008 2:58:53 PM | Cheese and Jam!...the BEST...and I cant believe I saw another person post it.... ...even the kids think its gross...hehehe! | |

| fess up to your favorate wierd sammy Posted: 6/11/2008 12:11:33 PM | Breakfast favorite: Toasted dark pumpernickle bread with butter and avacado, sprinkled with Kosher salt.
Lunch or Supper: My favorites in the summer are a lettuce leaf, piece of cheese, and a dill pickle. Roll it up like a burrito and chow down! If you must have meat it is best with ham or turkey. Also Tomato, Miracle Whip and White Toast!!! Gotta use the tomatoes while they are still warm from the garden!!!
I also like Dill Pickles and white bread sammies, grilled ham, cheese, tomato & saurkraut on whole wheat, & Sloppy Joes with Miracle Whip, mustard and Cheese Doritos on toasted Hamburg buns.
For those who do the tuna sandwich with chips, try using the Dill Pickle chips or the Crab Seasoning flavored ones!! I also like to mix shredded cheddar in my tuna salad and eating it like a dip on tortilla chips.
My best friend eats peanut butter toast dunked in pea soup. Grossed me out for years, but I finally got brave and tried a bite, not bad actually, but I don't like pea soup.
One of my favorite "dessert" sammies are grilled cheese dipped in apple sauce, tastes like warm apple pie with sharp cheddar cheese!!! YUM!
Dang, that reminds me, I gotta go grocery shopping when the laundry is done....
