Captain Incognito - you might like Deliria if you play Changeling. Deliria is Changeling... done right. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deliria The website for Laughing Pan isn't work right, but system is pretty awesome.
I've gotten in a few fights with my ex over GMing style. He did things one way (which I thought was ridiculous) and I did things a completely other way (which had no complaints over). It's long to explain, but gaming fights can happen, sadly.
As for 'responsible' gamers. I have a job and go to school. I know a lot of gamers that are successful adults. It's the ones that aren't that give gaming a bad rep. That and the whole larping thing. No one gets over that experience. lol. I guess it depends on what you believe to be 'successful'.

Will check it out when I get home.

No one gets over that experience. lol. I guess it depends on what you believe to be 'successful'. I hold a M-F 9-5 job now. I don't role play, but have thought of getting back in to it, I'm more in to the miniature games. I spend about as much as I would if I went to a bar or movies in a month, I get out to socialize (unfortunately, not a lot of women, and the few that are, as I said, are taken). It's not something that monopolizes my life, but it is a hobby.
Another way to ask this is to see if guys would be in to a chick that's in to "A Fantasy Improv Drama Group" where she had preset attributes that would effect what her character could and couldn't do and the outcomes are somewhat randomized by a director guiding the actors.
PS, LARPs kind of scare me too.

My view of success isn't astronomical. As long as you have a job where you can afford a car/residence and have a bit of financial freedom is fine. This also leads to a person being responsible and independant. It's refreshing to see you, among others here, to be successful gamers.

| Gaming Girls... yea or nay? Posted: 4/4/2008 3:54:39 PM | | Most people prefer to relate to others with common interests. Gaming guys like gaming girls. If you want to find someone outside of your normal area of social interaction. Go do things that take you out of your comfort zone. Go volunteer, help with the community. You're sure to find other people that you can get along with and share yourself with and ultimately expand the group of friends you normally identify with. | |

| Gaming Girls... yea or nay? Posted: 4/8/2008 5:15:17 AM | Hey OP. Let me strap on my dagger of thwarting, my helmet of schilnk chittin, and my boots of fury, and we can party. Seriously though, gaming girls can be pretty cool as long as they take care of themselves as well as pursuing their hobbies. I'm more of a computer gamer, with my Wii, N64 etc by my side. I even used to play Warhammer and D&D but i was rubbish at them! I think if I was encountered by a girl who was into boardgames and stuff, I'd get involved with it if I was invited!
As a rule - Gamer girls are a thumbs up. Same hobbies=possible compatability!

| Gaming Girls... yea or nay? Posted: 4/8/2008 7:27:31 AM | | totally agree with above post. I would love it if I met a girl who not only was good at video games but better then me and beat me! That would be a huge attraction because I wouldn't have to be afraid of showing my gamer side like the usual person might tell us to do because "girls don't like gamers" or "girls don't play video games" I really hate that so finding a girl that loves em would be great. That and anime too I'm not big on anime but I notice when girls are into anime I'm attracted to them. Problem is girls like this are rare to find or atleast for me. | |

| Gaming Girls... yea or nay? Posted: 4/8/2008 7:59:37 AM | | I do like some aspects of the 'geeky girl' personality type. I think it's attractive. But I am not a gamer myself so I doubt I would make a good match for a woman like that. I would think gamer girls go for gamer guys and vice versa. Now if I could find a woman who could beat me in bowling, I would be a happy guy! | |

| Gaming Girls... yea or nay? Posted: 6/11/2008 9:02:39 AM | I think it's funny that guys think that nerdy girls are sexy. With all the guys I've been with, I've been with only ONE who thought my love of gaming, conventions, anime, and all that "nerdy" stuff, I guess, was cool. And even then, he would get upset if I focused too much attention on it.
Being "nerdy" is a huge part of my life. I never considered myself a nerd, but my interests qualify me as one, I guess. It's hard to find someone who's willing to share that interest with you. You know, someone who wants to save up money for the four or five conventions in the summer rather than that tropical vacation (which I don't mind having once in a while).
All in all it's difficult to be a nerdy girl and find a nice (not creepy, awesome personality, and decent-looking) boyfriend, from my experience.
|
| Gaming Girls... yea or nay? Posted: 6/11/2008 9:07:50 AM | | tbeanax - I can't imagine that you would have any trouble finding a guy, especially a nerd that would probably worship the ground you walked on! Good looking, nerdy girls are few and far between, but then again -- GOOD looking, nerdy guys are probably just as rare a breed! | |
|
| Gaming Girls... yea or nay? Posted: 6/11/2008 9:25:03 AM | I guess it can be harder to find a decent guy when you're a gaming nerd, because you have to find someone who doesn't mind your hobbies. If they're not a gamer, this can be very difficult, let alone dragging them to conventions where you're in costume and they're not. Oh the joys! However, as awesome as nerds are, it can be hard to find a mature nerd (my age) amongst their ranks.
Btw, fellow gamers. Check out Dread. It's an awesome indie rpg using Jenga instead of dice. Good play, fast paced, and survival horror.
Another cool game to check out is Don't Rest Your Head by evil hat productions. It's similar to Mirrormask, but you go to the Mad City because you're an insomniac and something traumatic happened, now you have to try to get out with your mind, but you can't sleep or the nightmares will get you... all in all... Don't rest your head.
And finally, In A Wicked Age by the same fella who did Dogs in the Vineyard is a quick, easy to pick up, no prep work rpg that's a hoot and a half, with some great stories coming out of it, and fun results. Different characters each time, but a strangely running plot-line.
Oh yeah. 4e, while I'm not a D&D fan, does look pretty snazzy!

| Gaming Girls... yea or nay? Posted: 6/11/2008 11:53:15 AM | Hi Cheshire Grin, The 4E art is much better than 3.5 and previous editions, but general consensus around here is it's very "warhammer-ish"; haven't tried it yet myself, but it was only released last Saturday.(6/7/08)
A lot of players are probably going to be sticking with 3.5 or 2nd Ed for some time to come. I personally like 3.5, and must agree with overall 10:1 boy/girl ratio mentioned.
Out of 6 pages of this thread, @8 responses from(different) gals: approximately 20:1 ratios-ladies, you're hunting in a target-rich field here.
Yea or nay? Absolutely yea! Rock on OP!

| Gaming Girls... yea or nay? Posted: 6/11/2008 1:34:22 PM | I've grown further apart from RPGs. Most of them are so childish and kiddy. I just don't like them. The only ones I really play are Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts (because it had Final Fantasy characters in it) and a few others.
I mostly like shooters and rthyhm games anyway.
|
| Gaming Girls... yea or nay? Posted: 6/11/2008 9:29:19 PM | If you like the Final Fantasy series, Square Enix made "The World Ends With You" (DS), and it's not that kiddie at all. It's actually pretty awesome.
Also, I especially enjoy Fable. Fable is similar combat style to KH, but there's so much more blood, swearing, and amazing-ness. Not to mention, I can destroy and kill an entire town and then sleep with some random whore who's all for me because I'm just that evil.
I want Fable 2 so bad!! xD

Beyond that you should have a wide variety of gamers to choose from. Why would you even need a dating site?
|
| Gaming Girls... yea or nay? Posted: 6/11/2008 10:03:04 PM | | I need a dating site for the forums, obviously. I met my current boyfriend through here, and he's really awesome. A lot more awesome than some of those other boys that were interested in me from gaming circles. I dunno. I'm just crazy I guess. | |
|
| Gaming Girls... yea or nay? Posted: 6/11/2008 10:13:38 PM | I don't see a problem with the interest, provided it isn't something more than that.
Of course I doubt any gaming girl is going to be impressed with my experience in that area.... I stopped keeping up with it in about 1988.
The last 'new' pen-paper roll playing game I played was either "Paranoia" or "Twilight 2000". Can't remember which...
Someone could probably get me to play a good game of "star fleet battles".... I used to be good at tactical combat board games..
Worse yet... my video gaming stopped at about the same time... when most home computers were still of the 8-bit variety and the only game controller I can operate with any skill is a classic atari 9-pin :)

For me, I become good friends with gamer guys I meet in real life, and then I don't want to ruin the friendship. Honestly! I know that's a cheesy excuse women use to not date a guy, but I would HATE to date one of my friends in my gamer circles and then have it be awkward afterwards if something bad happened.
POF is a good way to meet a gamer guy that I can go on dates with and not worry about having it end badly and being awkward afterwards with my gamer friends.
It doesn't always end badly, my relationships, but I'd rather not take the chance. >.<
