| What are your favourite words? Posted: 5/5/2008 3:24:41 PM | PAMPLEMOUSSE!!
A few years ago I worked in an office that had recreational equipment (pool table, ping pong, air hockey, etc.) in the lobby. Whenever anyone had a grapefruit (not an unusual occurrence here in Indian River, FL), we'd toss it around the room to one another, shouting, "Pamplemousse!" People who weren't in on the joke thought it was some sort of foreign ritual...
The word just makes you feel good when you shout it... | |

I am loving this thread!
For years now I have discussed with friends my love of individual words to be met with a blank incredulous stare in return. I guess I have been hanging around with the wrong people. I should surround myself with authors. We can have lovely conversations about eccentric words.
I love words so much that I could not just list a few, therefore, I challenge those who claim they do as well to do the same, and list their favorites alphabetically as I am:
ambidextrous boisterous cataclysmic debacle exquisite felicity gallivant hallelujah idiosyncrasy juvenilia kiosk lacklustre magnanimous nebulous octogenarian palpable queue reconnaissance soliloquy tedium umbrage vilify whosesoever xenon yahoo zephyr
There you have it and there are many more, too many to list. My favorite thing to do is to find ways to put them all together.
