Posted: 3/25/2008 3:01:33 PM | mmachelle - there is a book by Kaz Cooke, I bought one for my daughter, and I believe there is one for boys as well (and if there's not, there should be). It covers everything from bullying to pregnancy...great cartoons, funny, easy to understand. It cost about $40 - money well spent, and I will encourage my boys to have a look at it when they start dating....it will give them far more understanding of girls than Cosmo or Cleo gave the bokes of my generation! It's the sort of book you just go to the section you wanna know about...in fact, me and my three took it with us on a trip up the Gold Coast, and all lay on the bed one rainy morning, reading, sharing and giggling (my big boy is 12 and my twin boy and girl are 11).
As another single mum, my boys have known 'stuff' for ages....plus we had a female dog, so that covered the big topic of why the meds in the drawer were not just for science experiments! | |

My daughter is great at ttrying to embarrass family members especially her poor grandad. I still remember her asking him if he knew what smegma was She knows she cant embarrass me so tries it on everyone else. She is now in year 11 and has always got 95 - 100% in all health tests in relation to sex. So you can tell Im pretty open when it comes to discussing things. My friends ask if Im worried shes so knowledgable and I tell them nup because if she does start to have sex I know she has the right frame of mind for it and will take all precautions.
