| Ladies and their scars....What are your thoughts guys? Posted: 6/1/2005 7:15:24 PM | | I was with someone who had a couple of scars all the way across her chest from heart surgery as a baby. It never turned me off. It was just a part of the person I loved and massaged every night. | |

>> Would you accept the woman and not make comments about them? I might ask what happened at an appropriate time.
>>Can you really say that it doesnt matter and she is still beautiful? Would you be able to hold her, kiss them and not feel repulsed by them? Can you honestly say that it would'nt bother you? YES, YES, and YES!

You earn them through specific experiences that have affected your life to a certain degree. This can be good, if the outcome is that you're more self-aware and willing to accept flaws in others. It can be not so good, if having scars impedes your ability to accept yourself as being more than one imperfect part of a whole person.
Years ago, my girlfriend at the time had a tough time letting me hold her right hand. She would hide it, and automatically switch places while we walked together, so that I'd never see or come into contact with that hand. See, she was extremely self-conscious of the fingers of that hand being malformed since birth. It had affected her quite negatively over the years. She craved attention, but not for her hand. It seemed as though my acceptance of what she considered a deformity was just what she really needed, though. So, I waited for a romantic moment, looked deeply into her eyes, gently coaxed her to put her right hand in mine, and then I kissed it. She couldn't stop trembling and crying. I couldn't believe that had been the first time anyone had ever done that for her. It seemed obvious to me.
That's really all that anyone with scars likely hopes for. Simple, tender acceptance.

I hate plastic cookie cutter people, real people have boo-boos, I have many scars, all of them have funny stories associated with them. Pat

| Ladies and their scars....What are your thoughts guys? Posted: 10/15/2005 12:18:56 PM | | well it would take me hours to show you all my scars ive had lol. It wouldnt bother me if a woman had scars as with all the surgeries Ive been through I know whats its like. The one scar on my right arm that some of you have seen isnt too pretty but thats a part of me and I accept that and its not big deal if a lady has them too! | |

| Ladies and their scars....What are your thoughts guys? Posted: 10/15/2005 12:22:44 PM | This is a great thread. First off.. the stretch marks, I've seen a lot of guys with stretch marks, too, it's not just a 'female' thing. Any one who's lost a lot of weight will have them (be it through pregnancy or weight loss), and it's nothing they shouldn't be ashamed of.
As far as scarring, I had an emergency c-section with my first son, he was in fetal distress. It was either have the surgery (classical incision, not the smiley), or protect my 'vanity' and lose my baby.. No choice to be made there. I do let a guy know if we get that far in the relationship about the scar, and so far I've had no negativity. It's been 'you should be proud of that, wear it like a badge of honour, you have an amazing son out of it, the scar is nothing'. I do hide it in public, though, as far as not wearing low rise jeans and a belly top.. Interesting to hear the guys views in the forum on this...
Also have an appendectomy scar.. no choice to be made there either, as it was about to rupture. Vanity, fine, but life is SO much better!!!!

If I made a "connection" with a woman... Scars, stretch marks, etc... Are nothing more than a road map to where she's been... To what made her the woman she is today...
