And today he had a baby girl....
Born out of his twinkle because "he" is just a "she" with a beard (not that un common in my county!)

| Pregnant Man...Only in America? Posted: 7/3/2008 11:59:05 PM | Congratulations to him and his wife... I don't envy the birds and bees conversation when their daughter reaches that age, it's going to be very unusual and complicated... Just as long as they are good parents and don't offload their sexual differences onto their daughter I hope all goes well for them as a family.... | |

Used to be that they had councelling before they could have one, so for some reason they convinced someone they were unhappy as a woman, but has now gone on and done this very womanly thing. I worry about the child and the motives.

| Pregnant Man...Only in America? Posted: 7/4/2008 12:19:57 AM | I just dont understand this....how can the world claim that the 1st MAN has carried and delivered a baby? He/she has taken hormones, grown a beard and had his/her breasts removed...........the womb, ovaries, falopian tubes and vagina are still intact and obviously still in very good working order......so HE is very obvioiusly not a HE at all. .......but somehow the headline "WORLDS FIRST FLAT CHESTED WOMAN WITH A BEARD GIVES BIRTH" doesn't quite have the same effect does it? | |
|
| Pregnant Man...Only in America? Posted: 7/4/2008 12:23:48 AM | | He is a man..he had a full sex change, but kept the ovaries and womb, so he could have children later..! | |

| Pregnant Man...Only in America? Posted: 7/4/2008 12:25:04 AM | sorry but if he has a womb and a vagina he is a woman.
to be a man he would need to have had full gender reassignment
|
| Pregnant Man...Only in America? Posted: 7/4/2008 1:03:14 AM | Under no circumstances can we call this person a man.
Let me give you an analogy. If I buy a Toyota MR2 and then buy a Ferrari 355 look-alike kit, paint it red and badge it all up, it may look like a Ferrari may sound like a Ferrari, but is aint. It’s a fake and it’s a crime…literally to call it a Ferrari or pass it off as a Ferrari.
If you’re born a woman, then no amount of chopping or pasting can make you a man, as can be seen by the fact that SHE has had a baby duh.
Gender reassignment is carried out because it is considered a mental illness, to not do this would cause distress to the patient. We should be treating the cause of the illness not be pampering to her whims.

Actually i see nothing with "him" having a baby, its just laughable as the press in this country anyway..report it as being some sort of miracle.

I beg to differ. S/he didn't have gender reassignment surgery, s/he still has a fully operational la-la (and no pinkle), through which the baby entered the world. Apparently s/he kept everything working because his/her partner had had an hysterectomy so their only chance of having children was via him/her. So, yes, a flat-chested, bearded woman, with a man's name gave birth. Gosh, wow!

| Pregnant Man...Only in America? Posted: 7/4/2008 6:28:05 AM | There's some incredibly heartless and ill-informed people on this thread.
Whether a he, a she, mentally ill, not mentally ill, it's a fellow human being you're talking about. Where's your manners?

Good point. Gender Idenity is complex subject and not always linked to mental illness, and not always as straight forward as saying i'm a man, woman, heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, pansexual, polysexual, asexual.
Society dictates that we have to fit in to neat little boxes, and if we don't we're seen as odd.

I know a woman (born a man) who is a lesbian. So gender identity and sexuality aren't even linked. You're right, sexuality is complex. I think the "First Man To Be Pregnant" was just the media sensationalising it in order to sell papers.

Gender Idenity is complex subject
actually its very simple....
apart from a handful of cases where people are born with no or both sets of genitals, you are born as either male or female. Whatever you do to yourself doesn't alter that fact, even if you have the full operation, which this so-called "man" hasn't even had!

Think your right because I just heard on the news that this might have just been an elaborate hoax from from an attention seeking woman already with a recognised mental illness.
Think SHE wants to be talked about

| Pregnant Man...Only in America? Posted: 7/4/2008 9:08:01 AM | | Just because they haven't had full gender reasignment surgery, means absolutely nothing. The fact that they now wish to be known as man, should be respected, and not ridiculed, by ppl who aren't qualified to judge. | |

But isn't this a case of live like a man/be known as a man only when it suits? Then when the person chooses they use the fact that they are still biologically female to their full advantage?
It has been claimed that "he" wants to expand his family in future so he will be relying on his female bits again to achieve this.
Untill the vagina/ovaries and womb are removed and a penis added then he is a she.

Absolutely the person shouldn't be ridiculed and if she wants to live as a man, that is fine.
I think what people are ridiculing is the story that a man has become pregnant, because a man hasn't become pregnant!

Hey I'm a man, how qualified do you want to get
Just because they haven't had full gender reasignment surgery, means absolutely nothing
Yes your absolutly right...born a woman always a woman.
The fact that they now wish to be known as man, should be respected
Reminds me of the monty python sketch in life of brian, 'wants to fight for the right to be called a woman'. Was stupid then...stupid today

What about intersexuals, who sometimes have no identifiable female/male sexual organs, or who have male genitalia, but also have a womb and ovaries?
|
| Pregnant Man...Only in America? Posted: 7/4/2008 9:51:48 AM | Man or woman, doesn't matter so long as that child has a loving family etc which they may do a damn sight better job than a lot of so called parents
All the best wishes to them & congratulations!
