Posted: 4/3/2008 6:20:54 AM | Hey Laurie.... I hear ya!!! Howwwww many times did men look at me from across the way and then give me the "nod" as a way to ask me to dance. Gentlemen....If you want to dance with a lady, a "nod" in her direction is not the way to ask her. It is actually harder to turn down a guy who is right up to you asking you to dance than it is a man wayyyyyy across the room making a gesture with his head to ask for a dance. My best dances of the night were with Badbutinagoodway. He just skated right up to me on the dance floor and came up to my backside (he actually startled me) and asked me to dance. You cannot get any more forward than that! Gotta love a man like that!  Wouldn't it be fun to put our names in a hat and pick one for someone we have to dance with...just to mix it up.....unless everyone is afraid of strangers??? Maybe I am too much of a daredevil? lol.....By the way...Playfully Yours has some moves on him!!! | |

that is so funny yet has so much truth to it too. the guys can't help that they were peer pressured into NOT dancing in their youth. and your right about a lot not wanting to fast dance.
maybe we could do a single song selected for sadie hawkins. make us women do what we demand from the opposite sex. i think you're onto something

LT you missed it last time, the music was way too disco oriented. the songs they played were geared for couple dancing. It was quite intimidating for the regular guy. i think a lot of us are only capable of free styling, with some line dancing thrown in.
they did teach a hustle step in the beginning. i think there was more of us out there dancing when it wasnt couple dances. i'm not sure if thats a good thing or bad lol.

I try to imitate good lead singers that are great dancers and entertainers. The best dancer and entertainer for me is "Mick Jagger"; he puts on a great show with his dancing moves and the girls and the crowd go crazy over him...thats what I like and he is my idol. That is free-style dancing as any dance step can be a good one for the song. So my best advice for the men is get a song where you feel the good rhythm and put it into your best dance moves and the girl will adore you for that. Asking them(ladies) to dance will be fun, enjoyable and exciting so don't hesitate...ladies love a guy that dances....Ask Blonde Indian and Laurie...they can dance; they have good moves. My favorite dance song is "Brown Sugar" as I like to put my good dance steps into that song. Rock N Roll will never die...keep it going. Jim(Playfully-Yours) | |

Some of them tired me out...lol. So I hear you do a good "Keith" imitation...thats great! so that means you use your eyes to flirt with the crowd...lol and you use alot of "bends" in your legs to dance around...great...thats "Keith's moves with his guitar and eyes. As for song suggestions..no one mentioned KC and the Sunshine Band or WHAM. We were also expecting more 80s hair band music at the March dance. Can you add some to the list Muree? Whitesnake, Poison, Bon Jovi (started in the 80s).

we're looking at the hat/name tag/master list for a possible dance contest. the problem is we don't get microphone time to round people up or get a hold of the 'missing ' people from the name pulls. whatever we do it would have to involve gathering people without the use of the dj or minimal announcements. thanks for all your input so far everyone!!

*Optional
* For those who want to particiapte, get something with a number on it
* We need to pass out numbers, men get a pink number (1-100? in order handed out), ladies get a blue number (1-100? in order handed out)
*Mystery dance to occur at set time, like 9pm, for say 2 dances in a row, slow music
*Sheets of paper can be placed on floor near sign in table, to say #1-10, #11-20, etc so we can figure out who has our number fairly quickly.
We can hand out a flier when the number is passed out with the instructions. This could all work if we set it up right.......................... I would be willing to help with it! Laurie | |

My observations:
More women than men and they were looking to have a good time.
There were tables full of women and guys were not asking them to dance.
I thought the music was fine, and who said Salt N Pepa sukked? It was great.
I don't know about any planned stuff to force guys to dance, I think that will make them even more self conscious....but I'm def open to a woman asking me to dance, how could a guy not want that?
Men:
Get out and dance.....no one cares what you look like, it's the energy you project that will attract a woman. I probably looked like a dork, but I wanted female contact and I didn't care.
Dancing does energize you, opens you up....be a dance whore....I danced with 2 women at the same time, there may have been a man included in there too, can't remember....if you need some stimuli, pound a shot of Jack, chase it with a beer and get yo' flabby buns out on the floor....otherwise women may stop showing up if it isn't a good time.
Also, wear clothes that smell nice....women like a man that smells good. Wear something right out of the wash and use fabric softener. I had women sniffing me all night long. | |
