| Pizza man shooting would-be robber is good example Posted: 4/5/2008 6:28:36 AM | Do you think this strengthens the case for private citizens to continue owning guns? Or is it no big deal?
It gives pro guns 1 more example. It gives the anti guns, one more time to ask questions.
I don't carry a handgun. It does not mean I don't own a gun. I am just a terrible shot with a handgun.

Let it be a surprise for the bad guys. Let them try and figure out if their next victim is packing or not. It has been proven that this lowers crime rates...criminals go to where the sheep congregate...basically, places where the people have been forced to give up their guns or not allowed to carry and conceal.
I'd much rather live in a place where the bad guys are takign their own lives into their hands every time they commit a crime, rather than a place where the criminals rights come far ahead of the victims.

Did you notice on that map that the areas with the highest death by guns were in "Gun Free Zones"?
I have 15 guns. Most of which I use for hunting. I also hunt with a recurve bow. Do I need a gun? I need a gun as much as we all need cars. But the thing is.......I don't decided whether or not you need a car. So, I don't like anyone deciding whether or not I need a gun. I have been trained to shoot. I also instruct others how to shoot. I will decide whether or not I need guns. Not anyone else.

And I am a damn good shot, FNC1 And that one is a real b*tch too.
I'd love to see some of the "bumper sticker cowboys" put a few rounds through one with the gas selector closed and laugh as they come back with a clean target and a cracked cheek bone.

Each year ATFE sends me a packet of laws and regulations that is roughly 3 1/2 inches thick. That is just the collectors' licence packet.
Just the start of the Federal "prohibited persons " list:
Felons and those convicted of misdemeanor domistic violence. Drug/alcohol addicts Those adjudicated to be mentally defective etc. Illegal Aliens. Under-age persons. Etc etc....
That's the reality in the United States. And it works quite well, all things considered.

| Pizza man shooting would-be robber is good example Posted: 4/8/2008 6:51:30 AM | What kind of society allows a bad person to carry a gun??
Think about it.
That's what all the existing laws already show...all societies have bad people and the law seems to really make no difference. It is not allowed...remember it is illegal to drive above 70 in most states and people still do it.Robbery is illegal.Spouse abuse.Underage anything.BAD people don't follow law. That's why they are called "bad people".
Why do I have a feeling this is going to be another pointless "gun control" topic.
Obviously doesn't understand that gun control is the ability to hit, with consequence, what you are shooting at and leaving collateral damage out of the picture.

| Pizza man shooting would-be robber is good example Posted: 4/8/2008 8:43:55 AM | Here's another reality check:
There has not been a significant federal firearms restriction passed by Congress in over 14 years.
In the early 1990's about 30 states had objective criteria CCW laws , now there are over 40.
No Presidential candidate in the Democratic Party has made a clear anti- 2nd Amendment statement or a clear and significant "gun control " statement during this campaign. Why? Political suicide--simple as that.
Only about a 1/2 dozen states have truly significant anti-2nd Amendment laws. Those laws will be under significant judicial attack in the next few years. ( Heller v DC).
This list could go on but talk and keyboard strokes are cheap. Votes talk and BS walks.
So called " Gun Control " is a dead issue. The politians know it is a loser issue. , for losers.
We won , you lost.
Now ,maybe we can do some effective crime prevention.
