Weekend at the cottages! May 17th and 18th
Posted: 5/16/2008 5:13:03 AM
I'm just curious how many people are going now?
I know robbie had to cancel due to an unexpected large truck repair bill(and he did remove himself from the sign up list). But TIM and dodgeboy??? If someone says they are going to be there and then just disappears...well...they lose a lot of respect in my books!! At least let the person on the hook for the accommodations know where your standing!!
How hard is it to be considerate?

Now, for the charcoal BBQ's, should we all just chip in for some charcoal instead of everyone wanting to use the BBQ's bringing their own? I know I'll have no use for them after this event.

Alot of people have cancelled it seems .. Robbie, dodge boy , tia, tim .. looks to be a much smaller crowd , which is fine by me , just tis funny .. some the same people that cancelled were the ones that wanted me to set this up for this particular weekend. Maybe it is not too late for MOI to cancel her chalet and Maple and moi bunk with chef 69 .. he has a large chalet booked and all by himself.

With so few people I guess we will do our Potluck either in my chalet or chef's .. also we have a big bag of charcoal .. someone wants to pick up a small bag to go with it it should be fine for sunday nite . I love charcoal BBQ anyway .. bit more work but that cool. We have lots of starter fluid!

someone wanna bring paper plates lol?

If I were you... I'd pick up the charcoal in the city. If you pick it up out in Caledonia at the little Home Hardware.. you'll pay an arm and a leg (I used to work there...)

I knew what I was risking when I booked the chalet, but I've been working waaaaay too much since January and really need this vacation. Here it is after 11 and I'm still at work!!!!.

And Maple, as far as the naked wandering goes....could you at least wait til I've had my first cup of coffee in the morning????

^^^^^^ Hahaha...I guess I could wait for that. Just make sure you're up first.

I guess I'll bring a small bag of charcoal.

I do hope all who go have fun, and as MMMMMOI mentioned in post-48

Tim wasn't sure if he's make it

I had sent her a private email stating I wouldn't know for sure till the last minute and that it doesn't look good. I didn't remove myself from the listng as I was trying mybest to be able to swing going..I failed in that attempt.

Well, since chef didn't have time for the cheesecake, I guess I'll bring some kind of dessert. I can't bake so it will be bought. I'll check out the cheesecakes..but no guarantees.

I knew Tim was still hoping to go....too bad... But I hope folks understand that thay can still show up, even if they haven't officially signed up. The more ALWAYS the merrier, and there will be so shortage of spare beds.

Thanks snowball, but I refuse to pay a store to let me shop in it and thus am not a member.
I'm sure I'll find something on my way.

There, now that I flossed all the bugs out of my teeth and got a little rest, I can now post.
I thought the weekend was great!!! The weather co-operated enough yesterday to enjoy then canoes. The only real downer was the flies, which seemed to be immune to smoke, but still a great time had.

What a wonderful place that was. I'd definitely go there again. Only 7 of us but apparently the right 7. Also had a visit from New Dawn and Nfldsnowball.

The view was amazing .. the people awesome, good food , and good times. BUT.. those dam*n black flies! Nobody was lacking for protein for sure lol. I up now because ,of course ,the 100 fly bites I got all all deciding to itch like crazy lol ! Great trip guys , thanks to all that came ! Have to do it again sometime , when it not black fly season! .. Plus they have a small white water spot there that is just calling a couple of drunken fools names!

believe it or not ...but a little bit of white vinegar will take away the itches and the smell goes away in about 5 minutes
Hope that helps Vampy.

Helmets will be a requirement at the next Mercey River weekend for the white water canoeing definately. This was the best time I have had in a long time. I'm still thinking about it days later.

Yup, given another day or two and Love and I would have been there. However, we did learn that our friends were no good at hearing our distress calls/whistles!!!
