So What Would you Take ?

Hey kobalt1963,
what I mean is I'd rather be burnt alive (very quick) than being buried alive & waking up in coffin!! I figure if i'm ash, I won't know or care. In my will I'm not going in a vase! I being "sprinkled" off St. Kilda pier. "Roaming the ocean or I guess being on the foreshore." Ha ha.

I do like the idea of my own coffee blend though!

Haven't decided whether I believe in reincarnation or not????

for my step father we gave him 3 bottles of rum , a few tools , photos , drawings and a crap load of his unpaid invoices. we know they were some of his most desired treasures and at the end of the day it was the thought that counted.

for me just a couple tears from those that know me best. what more could make you feel more attached than the tears of those closest to you.

and all those joining me in hell dont forget to bring the rum stocks with you.

Hi MissMilly

A bit of trivia for you...it takes about and hour and a half for a body to be turned to "ashes" called cremains...and yes they do burn the coffin, the only thing removed from the coffin is the name plate, which stays on the outside of the cremator to so you can be identified ...bit of useless info...you won't feel a thing !!

A freakin' battery operated jigsaw and a fold up shovel, just in case I'm not as dead as they thought I was.

O dark stanley that is the nicest thing.. good skills .. i really really love that

When my son ( 3yr old) died we had his little casket at home, i gave my son who was 6 at the time a paint brush and we painted hid favorite things telly tubby all over i . I put in tinkywinky his blanket and as much love as a i could. I buried him in his favorite gumboots, he called them his jumping puddle shoes.. I certainly hope there is a playground and arms to hold him now where ever he may be.

Miss Milly...when you said this "sprinkled" off St. Kilda pier", it reminded me of my great-grandfather. I never knew him, but Dad tells a story about how he used to make our great grandma wheel him down to the pier at St Kilda, and he would pretend he was looking at the sea...but he was really checking out the girls!

He might still be there - so say gidday as you float off in the ocean, cos obviously he had great appreciation for a pretty face!

Just an insight to this bit of trivia, one of my varied clients was the Council Crematorium, a 4 chamber unit, with another No4, being installed, where I did all the maintenance, refurbishment and new installations. Ideal cooking temperature is 975 degrees c, at which point the LPG gas cuts out by means of a probe in the ceiling lining. You then are a runaway on your own till the latter stage, when the temp drops again. Your last blow job on this planet is the internal fan that directs the ashes to a collection pan as you diminish your worth on this planet.
Then you get put through a separator to remove pins and prostetics. So for all who wonder, you are part coffin and only you, there is no way you get the ride with the remnents of the previous visitor.
I was once doing a complete replacement of a large Abattoir's pipework (as Grizzly affair) and at the same time doing a refit at the Creamo, the temp probe would not come out from the outside of the chamber and my staff refused to climb right inside and knock it out out, so I did it with threats dire warnings if someone closed the chamber door on me.
Sitting around the family supper table with darling wife and sweet children we exchanged pleasantries about how was your day?: You really don't want to know luv.

missmilly1970, a little more trivis re the string tied to the 'dead' persons hand....
thats where the phrase 'dead ringer' comes from.

with the thing of waking up in the coffin, either when its in the furnace of 6' under... thats one reason im an organ doner, make sure im dead for real.

more trivia, why is it 6' and nor 5' or4' whatever?
6' was found to be the minimun depth that was deep enough to stop the smell of decaying flest attracting dogs etc to dig it up.

And if you want to be buried with your beloved...double grave or even triple burials..they will dig to 9ft or 12 ft respectively !!

Make sure you take the wind speed/direction into consideration. We did the sprinking of ashes thing and ended up having to brush ourselves down spit the ashes into the bay! We think he would have had a laugh with us.

bewitched66,
that is the most gorgeous story! That's beautiful! It's wonderful to have great, amusing memories of those we miss!

My wonderful Pa is the only family member I've lost. The last time I saw him he was in the garden. He put his arm around my shoulders & said "Hi Milly. Let's go & see the old girl." We walked in the house & he slapped my Nan on the bum! Love it! After 49yrs of marriage he still wanted to slap her on the butt!

On another note. For those interested, a book called "FUNERAL RIGHTS - What the Australian death care industry doesn't want you to know" is an amazing read!

Both my Mum & I read it and changed our burial plans. The world is a big, scary place! Even after you die apparently!

Not to be gross, but this book is the "how to not be ripped off or have your values compromised when you're dead!" Sad but true!

Hi Miss Milly

Im currently reading this book as part of my employers way of making sure we are connecting with our clients..both deceased and alive..I recommend it as valuable reading to demystify the funeral / death and grieving process...very easy to read and informative..as my boss says...sadly one day, everyones ends up at a funeral home...either dead or alive !!!

Hi
Bewitched and Pookie Thank you for your thoughts. We all have stories to tell I am sure i am not the only one who has had to say goodbye to a child.
It was a long time ago now well really feels like yesterday truth be known. I do find this thread distressingor maybe confronting but also kind of liberating to in many ways..go figure,

as for me.. i want to be cremated and my ashes can be put where ever the kids feel they need me to be.

As a side point in the culture i was bought up in, we took our placentas home and planted them under a tree, My son who died tree is a beautiful oak tree about 10 -15meters high now which right now is firey orange and red, ready to drop its . That is how i love to remember him. Not a concrete head stone or plaque.

x mmm
