| Global View of the United States Posted: 4/12/2008 4:14:33 PM | Billy, I know you weren't talking to me, but:
A child dies somewhere in the world from something they didn't have to die from every six seconds. Another thing Americans don't seem to care about either.
Americans don't care? All Americans don't care? Here you seem to show the same kind of bigotry you supposedly detest.
BTW,
It's you country that made it a competition my friend not me. Gordon Geko and all that.
Gordon Geko was a fictional character in a fictional movie.

A child dies somewhere in the world from something they didn't have to die from every six seconds. Another thing Americans don't seem to care about either. I must disagree with you on that one. No one should say that Americans don’t care. Their government? Yes absolutely! In regards to the citizens, that's an entire different story. Sure some couldn't care less just as you will find similar characters in all other countries.
|
| Global View of the United States Posted: 4/12/2008 4:45:36 PM | Sorry mate but I try to speak as I find.
Been through hundreds of pages written by Americans here on POF and elsewhere. Even been over there once too. Either the ones I've met are unrepresentative or they don't care. They only care about the financial burdens placed upon them by immigration and such like.
They seem to have no qualms allowing their government to spend enough money killing people to stop those children dying. But they don't, just like they don't over here.
I can't seem to find any threads which talk of their 'immigration' problem in any of the other forums anywhere, just the Americans pointing the finger at the weakest and most vunerable in their society. Read what they are saying in here and in the immigration threads. They don't care. Listen to their politicians talking about the immigration problem, it's scary.
Watch them rally behind 9/11 like some bloodstained banner of new world freedom. Not even smart enough to know that 9/11 wasn't a succer punch, it was your wake up call. Time to get out of bed and do something useful.
This is my view and I'm not going to change it until I am given a good reason to

| Global View of the United States Posted: 4/12/2008 6:39:41 PM | I don’t need to annex anything from my quote. I am simply stating facts and nothing more. If facts are now "trolling" might as well shut this service down right now
Annexation means the incorporation of one territory into another geo-political entity. That is what the Soviet Union was doing in Eastern Europe and what they were trying to do in Afghanistan. You should know the basic definition, if you want to talk about real world examples of it.
And you stated your opinion not facts. The only force that stopped the Soviet Empire and thus allowed Eastern European and Asian nations to regain independence was the USA.
But go ahead and hate us and blame us for all the world's problems.
When have I even mentioned a "desire" to see America bankrupt??? Try reading properly before posting replies! I am the last person that would want to see the US bankrupt. That doesn't change the fact that it is taking that exact course does it? As far as why should any American listen to an outside opinion goes, perhaps if you did, the country wouldn't be in such debt. You are the perfect example of why the country is doing so poorly around the globe. You couldn't care less of other's opinions which I am glad to say that you are just a part of a very small minority within the country.
You said "Bin Laden bled the Soviet Union just as he is doing now with America which is bringing them to a bankruptcy as well…and he sure is on the right path if you ask me." On the right path, sounds like an endorsement to me.
Outside opinions are good but only if they demonstrate an objective understanding of the complete picture.
You say America is doing so poorly around the globe. WTF are you talking about? America is still the biggest economy in the world and has much better rate of employment than most nations in the world. America is still the most influential nation when it comes to politics and culture. So again, WTF are you talking about?
America is the Alpha Nation on the planet. If America is doing poorly, then every other nation is completely impotent.

| Global View of the United States Posted: 4/12/2008 8:44:44 PM | I seriously wish the USA would concentrate on our own backyard and leave the other Countries at the mercy of NATO. I've worked within NATO and if we, the USA, would simply just do the basic Trade with other Nations, help ONLY when it is a dire situation, etc. I feel very sure that the rest of the World would be begging for mercy. And, the Global View would be different. Actually, on many other web sites it is a very Positive Global view of the USA. The most negativity I've seen has been on these Forums here. Things that make ya go hmmmmmmmm.
But... I'm just one teeny tiny opinion in a sea of many.

| Global View of the United States Posted: 4/12/2008 9:28:06 PM | just curiouse jg, does that board you referred to have a particular slant and are there as many people from other countries as is represented here?
i value the perspective I get here because its a dating site with global message boards. It seems like as fair of a cross section as you could get....people just stumble in here without any agenda related to politics....basically....

The boards I speak of are representative of The Americas, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, etc. etc. If you really look...the amount of actual Countries represented here is small.
The Ones I Frequent for a Broader/More Unbiased View are: Commodity trading boards International Community for the Public Opinion/Parameters of Domains for the Internet Plus, I am in several groups which consist of mainly Military personnel in all branches and most affiliations with other Countries.
The overall consensus is really quite different than here. I come here to see what the negative side is thinking...for the most part. That's the honest truth. The Forums here are so vastly different than others distributed across the Internet.
On the other Boards/Forums I frequent, the Participants discuss in depth the problems and good aspects of the USA AND Their Own Respective Nations. Refreshing. Several of them are now reading these forums as I've referred them here (they aren't here for the 'dating' part) and are truly amazed at the venom towards the USA.
I think I'm at my 5 posts a day limit now....so, will return late tomorrow night again.

| Global View of the United States Posted: 4/12/2008 10:13:48 PM | well I appreciate that you have the perpective of everybody is entitiled to their perspecives, as ours are certainly different, as I can't see commodity traders, miliatry personnell in general as being even a little unbiased, if by unbaised you mean anyone that is not critical of the US. One does not bite the hand that feeds them, generally.
that is exactly why I see these boards as being more representative. Everybody wants to be in love and to have love in their life, then they manage to wander in here? This is the not a group that showed up to discuss world politics such as a group of commodity traders or military personell do.

I speak of Commodity Traders across the Globe...literally. The Markets trade pretty much 24/7 now and to pass time, we get on the Forums and discuss all kinds of issues. The Military I reference is composed of Military from many many Nations.
By unbiased, as I thought I stated, we discuss the pros and cons/concerns/good/bad aspects of all the Nations. These Forums here on PoF seem to be made up of Canada/England/USA mainly...not all but, a great percentage. Prior to coming here, I was use to many more Countries Representation. This web site has been an eye opener as to how negative the Canadians and British view the American people for the government which is in office. Yes, we put them there. That has been duly noted time and time and time and time again.
What I don't see are threads on hardly anything controversial in Canada and this a Canadian based web site. I find that odd. The ones I've recently referred here find that quite strange also. Is there an explanation for this I wonder? Seriously I wonder... not being sarcastic.

Is there an explanation for this I wonder? Seriously I wonder... not being sarcastic. It's easy from my perspective . I have dual citizenship through marriage and I like California ( Was my second home ) but after I delved into the realities of what is really happening to americans I said this is crazy and moved back to ontario and I'm staying as far away from the insanity as I can stay. good luck you'll need it. Bush and cheny don't give a shit about what anyone thinks and they love killing innocent people. They enjoy it, It's fun for them. They prove that every day. and next it's Iran and killing more innocent people. I'm not going back the country is being destroyed from the inside.

| Global View of the United States Posted: 4/13/2008 2:16:13 AM | If those people from those other forums have anything to say which would bring any new ideas and perspectives to this debate, then bring them into it. I for one would love to hear what they have to say about how things are going and what a force for good the United States is these days.
Bring them on, in fact take this forum into every workplace, every school, every church in America that has access to a computer and show them what our free and uncensored views of you are. We have told you how you are viewed around the world and just because you don't like it you are trying to find reasons not too listen.
Jedi Girl, we do not hate you, it our sons and daughters remember that are dying side by side with yours. How dare you dismiss us to others just because we do not see you as you would wish us too. We just want to be sure that they are dying for the right reasons and will not just accept what we are told.
Maybe what we are telling you has all cone as a great shock to you all and you take comfort in knowing that we are subversive and hate America. Turn your back on the truth all you want, it would make it any less of a truth.
We are not a bunch of radical extreemists chanting death to America here. We are your friends and your allies. We do not want any harm to come to you in any way. The interests of all the nations on earth rest on your shoulders right now and it is a burden of responsibility that you should shoulder with pride.
We too are just as afraid as you are. The same horrors are being planned here just like there. Why it was only the other day I was listening to the suicide videos of another 8 young men willing to die to make us listen. They did not rant an rave and had not been whipped up with anti American rhetoric. They were educated young family men who were also telling you how actions are viewed. Listen.
They just wanted to do something about it. Even now our government is trying to bring a great rafts of 'terrorists' legislation. They are trying to remove our freedoms and blaming the terrorists. Not one single proposal they are making would have stopped 9/11 or 7/7 or indeed the next ones either. Todays news headlines, there are 30 more such cells active in the UK right now. Would you like to play guess the target with me. It's like pinning the tail on a donkey mate
In what way would you like us or others to tell you ther truth to make it more palletable to you.
It does you no good to start accusing your friends of being your enemy. We are not your enemy, we are just blokes who came on here looking for love. Same as you. We have no hidden political agenda. But we are able to question what we are told and use the freedoms we have to do so. How dare you attack us and try to discredit our words. No wonder your in the shit your in.
Maybe we could discuss just how you intend to get a seat at the negotiation table to end this carnage?. You will be brought to that table on your knees if you do not act quickly now and bring an end to the death you peddle around the world.
You are losing the battle for hearts and minds of your own people let alone those of the rest of the world. You are losing the armed struggles too. Sooner or later you will have to discuss terms of surrender.
You do not need to kidnap, imprison and torture people in Guantanimo or anywhere else to know what is going to happen to our countries. Let me tell you and I'm not even a fully paid up member of Al binwhatdoyacallhims strategic planning team.
Horrible attrocities will take place in our cities possibly for years to come. Each one trying to be more spectacular and make better TV than the twin towers did . Buses and tube trains will be blown up, our planes will be bombed out of the sky, tens upon tens of thousands of people are going to die. And this is on our streets not just in Bagdad and elsewhere.
I hope that when these terrorist organisations do managed to save up enough money to buy a nueclear device or two on the free market, that they give us a bit of warning where they are going to set them off.
Me, if I was a terroist and wanted to kill as many Americans as possible then I might set them off in the area of your country where most of your food is grown. Those people that do survive can use thier constitutional right to bear arms to fight over the limited amount of food you have in your homes and supermarkets then when that has all gone. You can all starve to death.
Seems like a well thought out terrorist plan to me. Your Star Wars defense system making you feel safe still?. You could have helped a lot of people with that money.
Mind you, there's a good argument for detonation somewhere along the san andras fault or even finding a soft spot in the Yellowstone national Park ,now there's a thought eh!
I'm starting to wonder why you ask for our views when all you want to do is to ignore them when we give them.
Bring on your next self proclaimed champion of the 'free world', lets see if they have anything resembling a workable plan.

Annexation means the incorporation of one territory into another geo-political entity. That is what the Soviet Union was doing in Eastern Europe and what they were trying to do in Afghanistan. You should know the basic definition, if you want to talk about real world examples of it.
You are one funny dude! Typical type of answer when you’ve been knocked down. Trying to evade what was written to perhaps sound a bit intelligent in the end. Failed again! I never mentioned Afghanistan have I? You brought it up and for what reason…hell you are the only one who knows. It doesn’t matter where or when the Soviet Union went bankrupt. It’s the reason that matters. As I mentioned twice before, try to read and understand properly before rebutting someone. As for the copy and paste definition of “annexation” goes, guess you just learnt a new word huh?
You said "Bin Laden bled the Soviet Union just as he is doing now with America which is bringing them to a bankruptcy as well…and he sure is on the right path if you ask me." On the right path, sounds like an endorsement to me.
Sounds like something alright but certainly not an endorsement! Let’s see if I understand your logic. Someone agrees with historical facts and an obvious path taken by a government means that this person supports it??? So if I mention that someone killed an innocent person last night...I basically meant that I support it? You truly did not complete your 12th grade did you?
Outside opinions are good but only if they demonstrate an objective understanding of the complete picture.
What the hell do you think the world was giving so far??? Can you even understand what “ the big picture” means??? Of course not! If it’s not positive, why listen…right?
You say America is doing so poorly around the globe.
I was not talking about trade but more so about people such as yourself in regards to trust and accepting opinions good or bad from abroad which of course brings down the overhaul credibility of the country around the globe. Was that over your head...again?
America is the Alpha Nation on the planet
I agree…in regards to debt. You hear more and more the word China coming up in discussions just as you will hear more of it in regards to the debt soon enough if the gov doesn’t take their heads out of their ass’s. Why? China is a major funder of US debt and all they need to do is to buy the debts from other countries and then, close the books on the US. Why this didn’t happen yet? China holds a large amount of US currency that they need to dump first. Problem is, it cannot be done in one swift move as they would greatly depreciate the value of the dollar hence risking of losing an enormous amount of money. The same goes for most major oil providers which is why oil is still sold in US dollars. That’s in fact what’s holding the US above water but once oil will be traded in Euros and it will eventually, the US supremacy will be no more and some arrogant citizens will then realize the lost opportunities their gov had to fix things up.
But according to your own propaganda network fox news Bin Laden Died months before the attacks on the trade centers. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,41576,00.html
Me??? Fox News??? Are you kidding me? Have you actually read any of my postings? Furthermore, you wrote that Bin Laden died months before 911 according to your OWN source but if you actually taken the time to read your source which says “Bin Laden, according to the source, was suffering from a serious lung complication and succumbed to the disease in mid-December” and the article was written on December 2001 therefore how did you came up with “months before the attack on the world trade center”?

You claim that bin laden bankrupted the Soviet Union, but then you claim that the Soviet's attempt to annex Afghanistan is not related to that?
bin Laden was part of the mujahadeen that went jihad in Afghanistan to fight the Soviets. Afghanistan was your only support in your bin Laden argument. And now you deny its significance? Let the thread speak for itself.

It's quite obviously clear that you cannot defend yourself properly and once backed into a wall you take the lowest route possible by the need of placing words in to people's mouths. | Global View of the United States Posted: 4/13/2008 10:16:54 AM | sardonis,
Well what is your point. How does the mechanics and minutia of Afganistan or anywhere else make how you are viewed any different?. Stop trying to prove / disprove these events. You can try to deny what we think is right until your blue in the face and accuse us of hatred and being ill-informed although it seems from what I have read in here that we are just as informed as you are and possibly a little more so.
What happened when and by whom is somehing best left to the historians and conspiracy theorists. The truth is that your reality now is that you are in a war you are losing. If you lose then I fear for the rest of the free world. I don't even want to speculate what might happen in Israel and the middle east with you on your knees defeated. It's too scary for me.
Your country cannot finance this war on terror indefinately without funds being diverted from other services where they are needed. Not much of the money and profits made from this carnage are being put back in to finance this war.
There ar many questions about 9/11 and the attacks here that need answering but despite them possibly being the most improtant events the world has ever known, the authorities don't seem to think they merit a public investigation and try to dismiss every disenting voice as that of the conspiracy theorists ans America haters. All done in the name of national security. What a joke.
Some questions I would like answered included are.........
1. Where are the martyr suicide videos from those involved?. They always make one before going on these missions and they would be well worth watching. Is this the only time they never bothered?.
2. Where are the videos of the attacks?. They always film their attacks for use as recruitment propaganda. The tower 2 plane was delayed so that the worlds media were there to televise it. The terrorist videos would have been all over the news and internet within days.
Look, regardless of who did or did not do it, the fact remains that happened right?. Now what?, we all have a pity party and go off around the world bringing death and destruction to innocents. Where is you plan to end this war?. What next, attack Iran? the only option you will be left with soon is the use of neuclear weapons. Ready for that are you?
Don't bother to argue about who, what, where and when, just tell us what your end game is. Tell us how you intend to change the worlds view of you don't just tell us we are wrong and try to discredit our views. We are you allies not your enemy. Our sons and daughters are dying too you know.

| Global View of the United States Posted: 4/14/2008 9:21:26 AM | What do you mean "You People" when referring to a statement I made?
I don't know the exact reasoning the leaders of the country really went to Iraq. WMD? Maybe. To "plant the seed of Democracy" in the ME? Doubtful. Business interests? Hard to argue that wasn't a motivation.
However, it is not beyond the realm of possibility that it was because of confronting Iran all along.
But I didn't personally run out to my garage and jump in a Stealth bomber and fly over to Baghdad on a Saturday afternoon to bomb the smithereens out of Iraq. I never alluded to it being justified in any way shape or form. I personally find what has happened to be abhorrent. But that's okay, if "you people" want to blame me for it that's no sweat to me. I'll just do the best I can to try to add my voice to those who want the crap this administration has done to end.
