| 2012??? Posted: 6/11/2008 7:24:52 PM | Time is subjective, it requires everyone agree to the same thing. Somebody in Omaha did an actual art exhibition which involved him going into a room where he had set up time to cycle the hours in a day to 36(?). He had lights and everything set up so that he lived on a 36 hour "day". He did this for 3 weeks and then opened the door to his sound proofed, isolated room and stepped .... into the future. I have heard May 5, December 13, December 21, and December 23. I think it will depend on a number of factors, including the gravitational pull from the planetary alignment andthe earth's magnetic field. I also know the magnetic north pole is moving which it has always done, but the earth's magnetic field has really lessened in intensity and I've been wondering about a magnetic shift and what that would mean. I've gotten interested in magnets lately. Recently read a book called Magnetism and its effect on the living system. Magnetic energy moves in a circular motion around the magnet - clockwise to one pole and counterclockwise to the other. That's why you get the bubble effect when you touch matching poles they cycle against each other. When you touch a north pole to a south pole it slams together and immediately the centerpoint, where the energy seems to slow and almost form an infinity symbol as it reverses it's circle, changes. One magnetic pole is negative and the other is positive with different effects and energy. Wondering if that is one of the reasons that feminism is on the rise. It seems to happening in a lot of countries besides this one - but then again it could be going to flip back to the Dark Ages and we have seen as far as feminism will advance. People want to believe in change, that they will get to see something big in their lifetime. Even if 2012 fades into the past, there will still be someone looking for the next big calamity to try to sell things.

| 2012??? Posted: 6/12/2008 7:08:12 AM | 2012 is the end of the Mayan calendar and the hindu calendar, they were very good at prophecizing many events in their time. Some who see the end of that calendar assume its the end of the world and doomsday but i came across something which makes more sense.
There is a beleif that the "son of god" will come and reclaim the earth....
Scientists have taken this prophecy and turned it into a scientific reality. They beleive "son of god" is the actual sun, we will begin to see the sun rotate around our earth differently during this "end time" and when they speak of the son of god descending from heaven, some beleive the sun will become so close to the earth it will almost scorch it.
There is more to it but i got to work...however...religious prophecy can be turned into a scientific reality with little imagination required.

I for one am certain that the biggest event in human history so far will occur, what that is exactly I am not sure.
Bennett69a, how are you certain. You are making quite the prediction. Do you have some sort of power that can see into the future? The people who have made the predictions in your eyes, how many have become right without some creative interpretation? Tell us exactly.
I think people who make predictions based on supernatural circumstances are spurious and unfounded.

| 2012??? Posted: 6/13/2008 12:02:05 AM | some believe we will begin to see the sun rotate around our earth differently You have that backward and false at the same time. Whoever these "some" are, they need an astronomy class.
religious prophecy can be turned into a scientific reality with little imagination required. Contrary to religious prophecy, science doesn't rely on imagination.

| 2012??? Posted: 6/13/2008 8:54:03 PM | There was lot of hype about Y2K...yet nothing happend.
To tell you the truth...I've been really pissed of at alarmists latley. I mean if a tornado is coming and there is no place to hide.
SHUT THE HELL UP AND LET ME ENJOY THE REST OF MY LIFE IN BLISS!!!!!!!!
So if 2012 is the last year of planet earth; I don't want to know about it unless you have a space ship that can fly me off of this rock.

| 2012??? Posted: 6/15/2008 10:37:24 AM | I'm planning on being at Chichen Itza on 12/21/12.
Mayan prophecy says that at 11:11 a.m UT the warrior serpent god Kukulkan will rise from the ground beneath Chichen Itza and destroy the world. How cool will THAT be?
I'm sure I'll be horribly disappointed when a huge feathered snake does not burst from the ground and visit death and destruction upon mankind, but the optical effects of the astrological alignment might make up for it.

| 2012??? Posted: 6/15/2008 6:10:33 PM | | I dont know whats going to happen, if anything ....just seems funny that the Ching dynasty , Mayans and Hindu have all picked the same date..2012. which leaves room for all types of specualation as to whats going to happen..its going to be interesting to see how the media handle this as time gets close to that date ... | |
|
| 2012??? Posted: 6/15/2008 7:38:54 PM | | probably the same thing will happen as happened in 2000, and 2001...not a lot of really earth shattering important stuff...just the heap of usual bs that goes on. | |

| 2012??? Posted: 6/16/2008 2:38:37 AM | 12-21-12 That's my birthday, maybe I am the one to rescue or destroy the earth. Either way, it's gonna be a birthday bash I won't forget | |

Yeah. I know,1 in 365.25 more or less. I jsut wanted to check on how many people were really listening.

| 2012??? Posted: 6/16/2008 3:30:29 PM | "some beleive the sun will become so close to the earth it will almost scorch it."
Earth is tiny compared to the sun, the sun won't shift it's orbit to move around the earth :)
|
| 2012??? Posted: 6/16/2008 11:14:52 PM | | What could possibly happen in 2012 that is worse than what is going on now around the globe? Do we really want more earthquakes, tornados, floods, wars and whatever else Mother Earth can bring down on us? Let's just hope that things only improve in 2012. And yes, it's definitely odd that all three regions predicted the same year as the end - maybe they thought 2013 was an unlucky number? *shrugs* | |
|
| 2012??? Posted: 6/22/2008 3:40:23 PM | From what i can can gather, 2012 is the end of one huge cycle. It's no different from a 24 hour cycle or a 365 day cycle, it's just taken a long long time to complete.
from what i've read there will be a galactic alignment with the centre of the universe and the earth will complete a wobble on it's axis (precession). At the same time, we will be entering what's called the dark rift in space which will take about a year to travel through.
What will happen varies between the new age theorists who think that we will reach a new level of human conciousness, or doom mongerers who think that the world will end.

I'm still keeping an open mind about what will happen. There's still 4 years to go yet, and if there's going to be global devastation on the scale that some people predict, there's not much we can do to stop it, so there's not much point worrying about it.

| 2012??? Posted: 6/22/2008 7:10:06 PM |
some believe we will begin to see the sun rotate around our earth differently LOL ~ as someone else finally pointed out, the earth rotates around the sun. If the reverse were to happen in 2012 ~ that would be something rather noteworthy.
|
| 2012??? Posted: 6/22/2008 7:59:01 PM | It's a meaningless date on an arbitrary start of the Gregorian calendar. People love to think something is going to happen, and maybe something will happen in 2012. Or 21Dec2012. Or 23DEC2012. Maybe someone will lose a loved one in a car accident, or someone will kill someone else. Maybe someone will get married on that date and maybe some other thing will happen.
Most people are curious about the "second coming of Christ". But if the Angels in Heaven don't know the time when Christ will come again and that only Christ knows, then I doubt that any calculated code exists that the angels of heaven or hell couldn't figure out as easily as any mortal.
The reality to me is that the end of the world comes every few seconds. When someone dies, it is the end of the world "for them". And that's what matters. When it is the end for a person, then it is the end. And the "restaurant at the end of the universe" is really just a story.... Well, that's what I think anyway...

| 2012??? Posted: 6/25/2008 7:44:31 PM | | To the op 2012 Perhaps soylent green will become a reality.Seriously I don't hold much water with prophecies. | |

| 2012??? Posted: 7/21/2008 5:00:38 PM | | NOT the end of the world. Go to the NATIVE SPIRITUALITY Forum. I explained myself there. Earth CHANGES, but not the complete destruction of all life. Have some faith, guys! Power of the mind & positive thinking can work wonders! | |

But if the Angels in Heaven don't know the time when Christ will come again and that only Christ knows I thought he didn't know either.
And the "restaurant at the end of the universe" is really just a story You mean it's not true? Damn! I'll take out the penny I deposited in a savings account to pay for the meal then.

| 2012??? Posted: 7/22/2008 1:20:43 AM | Thanks KickDrummer for some great (un)common sense on the subject
I believe the planetary allignment HAS to alter things, and if anyone has ever seen tides go in and out (from a mere moon) or has even the slightest understanding of what happens when energy runs along a straight line...then you'd have to be a fool to thing 'nothing will happen'.
Of course it will
It has to
And politics and opinion polls wont have any say in it
And which religions predict (or predicted it) really doesnt matter
Its part of a cycle
I think what scares people is...they cant control it
Humans have this weird side to them. If we can explore it, and examine it, and understand it, then we can alter/control/harnass it.
Well no No you cant Not with this stuff
Its simply happens AT you and not a thing anyone can do about it..or should

| 2012??? Posted: 7/22/2008 6:00:10 AM | Can you post some of the links where you claim to have got this IRREFUTABLE EVIDENCE that the planets ARE going to align in 2012 and WILL cause widespread destruction? Because so far the ones that I have found that deal in FACT have said quite the opposite to what you are claiming.
Call me a fool for not believing in this scare mongering, mumbo jumbo but I prefer to rely on Science fact.. unless of course you can come up with something a bit better than "I believe the planetary alignment HAS to alter things"... with out backing it up.
|
| 2012??? Posted: 7/22/2008 2:08:07 PM | wouldn't it be silly that everyone knew *exactly* when the world ends?
for those who strongly believe this is an end...do you stop working and just take up loans? afterall...2012 is only 4 yrs away. might as well live to the fullest now right before the "world ends".
|
| 2012??? Posted: 7/22/2008 6:42:56 PM | Who says 'THE WORLD IS GOING TO END"?
Now to some people THE WORLD ENDING is when they die To others its the end of the human race To others it....well the list goes on
THE WORLD (meaning this planet we inhabit) wont END, but with a large enough upheaval, and the resulting (what humans would term as) catastrophes, then its entirely possible that so much of the structured life we have created for ourselves will indeed end.
We OWN real estate, and we stick in our little corners. In nature, if something big is going down you get out of there fast! Never mind the assets, the bank accounts, or tryin to save that wonderful yacht you worked your whole life for. You simply...go. And many who go, wont make it out.
If you have a look at the recent tsunamis, earthquakes, or even (was it) Orlando that was flooded?
So what's with a flood? Been happening since forever! And still will! So what was the big drama about. PEOPLE being STUCK in a place that was flooding. PEOPLE in the way of NATURE.
And nature WILL DO what nature does. The fact that it affects people is what everyone goes GOSH and GEE over. NATURE DID THIS TO HUMANS!
Well yes. Of course it did. Nature didnt do it DELIBERATELY to hurt someone. Nature is just doing its own thing as it always has.
But for some reason, these NATURAL events, are seen as some kind of enemy.
Devestating yes. Heart breaking yes. But also a wake up call that no matter how much you think you have it all figured out, no you havent.
Now when this planetary allignment happens, it isnt going to be SPACE MEN DESCENDING WITH LASER GUNS (unless you are watching a bad rerun on TV at the time) it isnt going to be an enemy you can wage war against, it isnt going to be something you can rush out and ALTER just because you know its there. Its simply going to do what nature has done so many times before.
And if we (humans) have positioned ourself in such a way that we get hurt. Well then thats just how it is.
How many people here say the END OF THE WORLD but really mean the end of themselves?
Strange reaction for a religion forum, where I would guess the majority of people here would claim to embrace some form of wonderful AFTER life, ie after they are dead.
I see the exact opposite. I see most (not all but most) who embrace these afterlife religions being petrified of dying.
Not so much THE world will end......but THEIR world will end. And they are mortally afraid of that. The one thing THEY CANNOT CONTROL nor avoid....and they spend their life looking out for the boogie man who's gonna GET them!
Dumb
This planetary allignement WILL alter SOMETHING
To deny that is like saying, oh its raining...but its not wet (because you are inside a building). Yes it is wet. It IS wet, but you are inside something that removes you from the natural event of getting wet when it rains.
See? We're used to controlling what parts of nature impact on us. By adding extra things into our lives. Creating buffer zones.
But we actually stop the event? Can we stop it from raining.
Can we?

| 2012??? Posted: 7/23/2008 2:40:18 AM | | No one is denying nature champ, the only thing some of us are denying is this scare mongering, so called event that you and others speak of that can't be backed up in the slightest. Chinese whispers anyone? | |
