I would simply say that she doesn't look like your type. Thank her for her interest and all that good stuff.

Have you thought of choosing the option on your mail settings that each person MUST have a photo?

Looks matter, and that's reality - BSing your way through on the Internet is for people who have few other places to turn, don't you think?

Don't just blow people off, either - that's rude. I have simply said, "I don't find myself attracted to you," and then invite them to make the decision whether to try to strike up any other sort of dialog.

Either don't respond at all (this usually makes it pretty clear to me a man isn't interested) or you could reply with a polite, "I don't think we're a match, but I wish you the best of luck with your fishing."

Don't just blow people off, either - that's rude.

I disagree; I don't think it's rude not to reply. We're all adults here, some people respond and some don't. Some women who respond to each and every message (some to say they're not interested) have even offended some men. OP, just do what feels comfortable and right to you. I have no doubt you're a gentleman, but that does not mean you *have* to respond to an email. To respond or not to respond...aint it cool being an adult and having a choice?

I did not read ALL the posts. My answer to the op:
List the positive aspects of her profile as compared to yours.
List the negative aspects of her profile. Dig deep on that one.
Tell her you do not think you are compatible based on her profile and tell her you would like to be friends.
I have had relationships with people I was not initially attracted to, because our profiles were similar, and had years of great times. Their own jealousy or lack of self worth ruined it. The fish that think I am talking about them, I am not. Pre pond.

I think it takes a bit of courage to make the first contact. So, it's only polite to acknowledge it. If you're not interested, and she's given you the option, just say "Thank for the email. Good luck on your search."
