Let's put aside the argument on how genuine & scientific this test may b.. let's just assume 4 sake of argument it is a decent enough reflection of how our sex lifes have been up to now & that every1 filled out the test accurately & truthfully - Now lets also assume that POF decided 2 make this test part of the signing up process so that, when our profiles r completed, every1 will have a KINKY score located n their profile 4 all 2 c - What do u think the ramifications would b??
1) Do u think a high or low score will b beneficial or a deterrent when other POFers scan your profile?
2) Does it really depend on whether the score belongs 2 a man or woman?
3) Do u think people will tend 2 look 4 some1 with a similar score 2 theirs or instead will look 4 some1 with more of an opposite score?
4) Does your actual score vs your perceived score (ie - I thought my score would b higher/lower than it turned out 2 b) change your perception about yourself n any way?
I am sure a few more ?s could b asked but these r probably most of the main 1s
AS 4 my own views, I doubt there is any right or incorrect answers 2 those questions. There certainly will b some guys who would LOVE 2 hook up with lady who has a high KINKY score 4 either good (sex/life style compatibility) or negative reasons (just thinking the lady is EASY) - And other men will probably want to date only ladies that have a more "reasonable" score or 1 closer to his own 4 fear of what Msg 40 wrote "If I'm only a 640 I'm not sure I want to meet the 867's! LOL My head might explode" (there is an obvious joke there but I will let it pass!!)
I am less sure on how ladies will view a guy's score - Will a high score tell a lady that the guy has just been interested in having sexual relationships and isn't long term material.. or will a low score describe a man who isn't opened minded, adventerous and/or just performs badly in bed
From most posters, I am getting the impression that "the higher the score the better" & having a low score means u r a failure!! Not sure I prescribe 2 that @ all - I tend 2 side with the ancient Greeks concerning "moderation in everything".. like 2 think that my score of 532 is the PERFECT score!!  But having either a fairly high or low score is neither good or bad when just taken on face value - Their score has 2 b evaluated along with everything else about the person - Am sure 2 ppl with the identical score can have vastly different lifestyles & personalities and perhaps even achieved those score in completely different ways - Only when looking @ the person in their entirety can we determine if a person's score is significant n helping us decide 2 contact some1
It is 12:14am & past my bedtime already.. and I am not even sure if what I already wrote makes a lick of sense.. I probably made a mountain out of a molehill!! Yeah I know.. it's just a fun, silly test!! So will close by saying that since this is a dating site, any information that we could get about some1 would b useful in determining whether some1 is worth our time & effort 2 contact - Knowing if they had a high, medium or low KINKY score would give us another added piece 2 think about when making the decision 2 pursue an interest in some1 - But as always what really matters is if that person has the qualities & characteristics we r looking 4 in some1 2 meet, date & perhaps get more serious - Not seriously advocating POF add this 2 profiles but adding additonal info 4 us 2 gleem about some1 is always beneficial - BUT the 2 BIG problems n having such knowledge available is 1) how accurate is the test.. and 2) how ppl end up filling out the test - Like everything else on this site, would come down 2 how honest, accurate & truthful we n presenting ourselves 2 others | |

IMO - I don't know that it would be all that useful to have these scores as part of our profiles as even someone with an identical score to ones own wouldn't necessarily be compatible (they could have scored their points for things repugnant to you). What is interesting and to a degree enlightening is the individuals reaction to their score.
If the person scores low and is pleased by that they're likely not that adventurous and would be suited to someone with similarly conservative tendencies. On the other hand, if they score low and lament the fact they're more likely to be an adventurer who just needs to find the right travelling companion(s).
By the same token if they score relatively high and are content with that then perhaps they're ready to hang up their guns and settle down. If they're still not content with their score they may have things yet to achieve which could make a LTR quite a bit trickier to work out. | |

Considering the questions...that's much higher than I would have thought!
I'm not going to inflict or receive 'serious' injury during sex.
I'm not going to do the 'golden shower' thing.
I'm not going to be led around like an animal or treated as a slave.
I'm not going to have any kind of remotely sexual contact with an animal.
I'm not going to have sex w another woman when she's on the rag.
Strangulation or suffocation would not be received as sexual...would be received as threatening and probably cause a panic reaction.

Re: Kinky Rating in profile...
Not sure that would work...some people might be absolutely amazing lovers but just not into the kink (animals/anal/bondage/etc). I'd tend to think that men would judge this to be a woman's willingness to 'spread her legs' when, in fact, she's just experimental. A woman might tend to think that a guy with a very high score (my thinking, personally) is a total perv and not even consider dating him - after all what the odds that you could actually have 'normal' sex with this kind of guy?
