Posted: 9/3/2008 11:33:32 PM | People say "vanilla" means dull, but that's a judgment no two people would see the same way. I think there is an objective meaning to "vanilla" in the sexual sense, like this:
Kinky people, in order to get to the goodies they want, have to - have to - tell their partner, out loud and in detail, what it is they want. You don't get to any specific fantasy by trial and error, or by wishing and hoping. There are too many possibilities. Not asking for what you want to try would be like waiting to win the lottery before you start to have a life. So, pre-kinky people take a deep breath and tell somebody what they want. No matter how many people run screaming out of the room, they keep telling people until someone says "uh huh. kuul." Or whatever receptive response. And the games begin!
I think vanilla people are those many, many folks, some of whom harbor some charmingly twisted desires, who never ever tell their partner about things they want to try. Or, to be fair, they may tell one or two people, but give up when it doesn't just happen. Vanilla people either don't have any particular fantasies to act on, which is cool, of course, or they are too embarrassed and self-conscious to speak up, which sucks for them.
Vanilla isn't necessarily dull for vanilla people. If it is, though, we should all hope they work up the nerve to ask for that thing, whatever it is.

Since my ex and I went to some sex clubs and I had to answer yes to sex in public, in a group, in front of others many times I thought it would be higher. That and a 3some still only got me a below half score.
Being hetero and not into S&M or anal probably dropped my score quite a bit.
Can't imagine how much freakiness people scoring over 600 must be doing to get the scores up so high. | |
