Fair dinkim, she's done a clutch, a couple of brake pads and the odd oil change and tyres and it's got 450 000 ks and no sign of giving up yet. It's towed huge loads to and fro Brisbane and Townsville and never let us down! | |

Posted: 4/10/2008 11:17:54 PM | Having enjoyed nice free company cars for a number of years with fuel cards and or allowances, coming back to reality and paying for your own costs is why I rarely drive into work - not paying $40.00 to park my car and spend 3 hours driving a day. I have had some nice cars including my beloved Mercedes (too small for more than 1 shopping bag) and fuel loving Nissan Patrols, when my own car did the head gasket in twice, I sold it as is and looked to rental for a month ($2k a month).
I ended up buying a $800.00 car with about 10 months rego which I used until the rego expired. I spent $94.00 on wheel covers, new battery, seat covers, fuel and oil filters and of course oil. It was a 4 cylinder so I think I got my money back with the $200.00 a month saving on fuel and when I sold it (having traded and swapped parts for some cash) I sold it to a wrecker who took it as a courtesy car for $100.00.
The issue with owning a fancy car is being worried where you will park it or who is going to key the side of it and or see you as overpaid. My car allowance covers me for fuel and my train fairs as required and saves me 2+hours a day in travel so I can't complain. | |

About once a month I train in the city and I avail myself of the cheap car detailing provided in the basement carpark, and then I have a clean car... until next next time I take the dogs somewhere...I think it was clean for a whole day once.  I do actually love my car...it's just that I love my dogs way more. | |

drive a jeep cherokee at mo - love me 4bs. usta own a nissan patrol...35in muddys, 2 1/2 inch body lift, 6 inch springs.....was a beast
owned a few bombs over the years......dato, cortina, gemi, magna, lexen, scorpian, XB v8 (that was a beast) and all of them i paid cash for except the patrol got loan for that.....never again tho....

Posted: 4/11/2008 1:01:04 AM | I really wanted a red sporty car, but am usually in two minds and my practical nature took over the day I bought my white mazda 626. I had an earlier model, so didn't have an issue with it. Later, when I read a report on this 99 model, it turns out Mazda had a design meltdown and it's the boringest model they ever produced! Oh well. At least I'm not driving something my lifestyle can't live up to!

Yeah, much as I relish my one clean car day a month, and as much as car lovers tend to be horrified at how I "treat" my pretty car, I reckon the dog hair is worth it to see the joy on their face when they realise they're getting taken somewhere. An entirely different expression to the one you see on people's faces when they want a lift and get an eyeful of the seats. I try to protect the carseats, but three wiggling dogs have a unique knack of dislodging any seat protectors.

I drive a little toyota corolla and if I did ever buy an XR8,, I don't think I could get rid of my little toyota it has been so loyal to me. It's my little girl, I think an XR8 would be my big strong man lol

Cars are an extension of your personality..I love to drive and I love to travel..if that means that the car is an extension of what I do and what I wear ..yes it is..it is part of me and the statement that I make. If I ask the question in an email what do you drive..quite often it will fit the personality of the person. One of the sexiest men drove a beat up 4wd and it showed up in his own self confidence in his ability to handle his life. The car a person drives often will tell me what he thinks of himself. | |

Posted: 4/11/2008 5:57:13 AM | i drive a suzuki seirra, it is about the 6th i have owned. what dose it say about me? most likely im a tight arsse and like cars that run on an oily rag and go through hell and back but will usualy start first time. last car was a swift gti(91 model) lots of fun in that one. another car i owned was a daihatsu mira now that was a little beauty everyone would give me heaps but i knew it was mine and it got me every where i ever wanted to go.
to me a car is just another s box that will always cost you money mates drive scraplines and other piles of rubbish and im always reminding them that they dont make up for there less than devolapted genetalia but hay who am i to say that is the case. | |

What would you buy as your private vehicle if you had a $10k-$20k budget? If you were are car what would you be .....I would buy an EH sedan metal flake dark blue, sports steering wheel, fatties and she'll have her rear end in the air..... If I were a car then that EH is what I would want to be.

Posted: 4/11/2008 4:33:08 PM | Juliet - I love EH's too. My Grandpa had one, and it now lives with my bro's collection of cars - it's heavy to drive, but as quiet as a whisper, and man, so simple to work on.
I was married in it...love that car! It's sky blue and white roof....Rod has put bucket seats in it and lowered it - it's just gorgeous.
Yep - I'd buy an EH too. After my XR. (Which, btw, is still there...I checked yesterday ) | |
