Posted: 4/14/2008 2:44:24 PM | Any tattoo fans up on the curent situaion in Winnipeg regarding UV tats? I know late last summer no tattoo parlor was doing them. I plan to get one, but looks like it has to wait til I'm in Toronto in june.
(for those that don't know about them, UV tattoos use a special ink that glows brightly when exposed to black light) | |

I would be concerned about having that injected into your skin and if there were any long term side effects from the ink, that would have some different properties to allow your tat to glow in the dark. My fear would be cancer or some kind of skin reaction. I would be cautions on this, without research.
Personally I like body art and think some of it looks really nice. Its a personal form of expression and I dont have a problem with it. I would date a man with tats, but you wont find any on this lady. I'm just too chicken to get it done, and know I would get tired of it, if I had one, and later not want it, as I go rapid phases of likes/dislikes. | |

The inks aren't radioactive, several naturally occuring minerals glow when exposed to black light ( the inks have been approved in the US by the FDA, but the long-term effects are still unkown; I'm 49 I think I can risk it  ). They use assorted minerals in the non-UV inks, for various colours. | |

gotta love sterotypes. and besides - nothing wrong with truckers, if it wasnt for them, you'd have nothing to wear, eat or drive. (to name a few things)
personally, i have 2 small tats - each small enough to notice, but not big enough to look tacky or gross. I think there is a difference between major body art and a few "self expressive" pieces of art...
however, I can definately see how some can be difficult to live with...i mean, my bf, he has many tats. While most are very nicely done, he does have two that sorta "bother" me - i remember the first time I curled up against his back and opened my eyes to be faced by this HUGE naked girl (with nicer boobs then me ROFL) it was a tad "freaky" but i have gotten used to it now. and my son is fastinated by how "perky" the babe on my bf's arm is...
as for piercings, i have a few - the only ones you can see is the ones in my lobes and my nose (which is a tiny diamond stud) and thats how it should be. Nothing grosser then going to a place like BK (on regent) where there are tons of people working there with lip rings, eyebrow rings, spacers in their lobes u can drive a truck through...nasty stuff and enough to make me walk out and go some place else to eat.

Sorry! I didn't mean it in a bad way! Just the trucker's I've known in the past, all seem to have those crazy long sideburns and tats. Just don't get it!
My first foster son is a long distance driver through the States. Very dangerous, they get robbed too! He did proudly drive into my driveway scaring the bejesus out of me with his state of the art truck! | |

I had double-piercings on my ears at one time & now I'm happy with my single piercings.
I thought about getting a small tattoo, but when I learned that tattoo applications involves needles, I immediatley decided against it. I'm afraid of needles!
Temporary Tatoos are fun though! I've tried those! | |

I like the ones that really say either this person really likes dragons/wolves/animals/ART(tribalorwhatever). A well thought out pattern or something thats just isometrically well placed on a persons body whatever it is.
Scattered all over the place says to me this persons brain is all over the place lol.
I dont like seeing those tats on certain people when yovue seen it on a hundred people, or those back tats every other woman has. Like the tongue ring/Navel piercing.
Everyones got one so they went out and got one too.
The whole piercing thing is a whole different animal for me, one in the nose is nice on some people, 5 lbs of metal all over a persons face is something else.
its one thing to wanna be unique or different, but I draw the line at a certain number of tastefully placed piercings in a persons face.
To each is own they say.
to me taste is all in how you view yourself i guess. | |

Yes, something simple but elegant is nice. I'm planning to get the TG (transgender) symbol, probably in UV ink. Just have to figure out where on my body, if it's someplace the blacklight in a club won't reach then there's no point . | |
