THE FINAL COUNTDOWN !!!!!
Sunday's Euro 2008 finals will no doubt be an intense affair with two top quality sides battling it out to be crowned Euro Champions. One key will undoubtedly be between two premier midfielders;Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas and Michael Ballack of Chelsea !!Wow!!this is really hard to tell who will win hej? Some facts: Germany won more penalty shoot-outs than any other side at Euro2008.They have won five of the six that they have been in-losing only one; Spain finally won a penalty shootout on the 22nd of June; after losing against Belgium in 1986, England in 1996 and South Korea in 2002 on this very same day,"La Roja"defeated Italy in the quarter finals before dispatching Russia in the semis.
Following their 3-2 semi final victorey over Turkey, Germany have now qualified for the EC final for a record sixth time. Spain are in the final of a major international tournament for the first time in 24 years !!!!CHEERS TO THE WINNER!!!

Americans need to stop trying to compare this sport to the popular sports in America. It's a wonderful sport just the way it is. Don't try to make it like Hockey or American football, or add breaks, or whatever. Leave it alone.

I love the penalty kicks. If a match actually gets to that point I'm probably on the edge of the chair or standing (maybe even forgetting to breath) and so is everyone else, from the fans to the team mates.

I'm REALLY looking forward to the final match today. I could hardly sleep last night. These are two fabulous teams and it's going to be a REALLY good final!

Leave the sport alone. It's wonderful just the way it is!

Though I am American I couldn't agree with you more Pasquel. There is nothing more beautiful in sports than the "flow & rhythm" of European Football.

Pedro, fasten your seat belt my friend..This is going to be one heck of a final, I can feel it..Looks like Spain will go back to Torres alone on top with 5 in the midfield. That should be interesting. In Texas we say, Why fix what ain't broke..

Even better to see the Spanish doing it playing football. Delighted to say that the best team in Europe won the European Championships...

What do Italy have to do with anything? I was simply trying to congratulate the best team in Europe on winning the European Championship! Are you that insecure? I never said anything in my last post about the Italians!

I was simply adding to the congratulations. You had mentioned something about Latin European Champions so I was agreeing. AND they played fantastic football throughout as well...don't think it was all that controversial...anyways, all in all, I think that football was the winner at this tournament and it's been a few years since we have been able to say that. Welll done Spain...

Just to let you know..Americans dont care about soccer, we dont watch it, we dont care. Its the Euros who try to tell us Americans that we dont "understand" it, and that it is the "world sport"....we dont care...trust me on that....

Actually quite a few care and watch it.
And with more hispanics in America now its profile can only rise.

I agree with Frankster....Soccer is quite prevalent here in America, although not as large as other countries, but we do follow.

that is my whole point....

dont want to start any fights, dont want to get the Euros panties in a bunch...jsut making some points...

Silly arguing anyway.
Us colleges and high schools have football teams.
The MLS is growing (Beckham is drawing crowds)
The Latino migrants like football.
2002 world cup US made the quarter finals.

So yes, its there.

finally we got it

we showed brilliant football, talking physically we are not so tough, but we are one the best nations if we talk about technical skills, etc.

now the famous saying that 'football is a sport with eleven players against eleven players with a ball, where the Germans always win" is dead

by the way, the last three matches against Italy, Russia and Germany have got new records here in TV, i mean, people watching TV. the match against Russia has been the most viewed TV programme in the history of Spain. now i am waiting for the numbers about the final.

by the way, in England 7 million people watched the match against Russia.
