Anything can still happen, i think Russia is playing better than Holland @ d mo.
Holland is not really playing the fast-flowing game they did in previous matches.
Game on!

...like i said earlier on, anything can happen, and anything just happened!
Russia deserves the victory, they played better and showed more zeal to win.
Its 3-1 now!

Wow, Russia now a fully deserved 3-1 up.

This for me has been the best team performance of the tournament so far against a Dutch side that looked fantastic in the group stages but again a team that plays on the front foot against them has undone them.

I think a football purist probably wouldn't want to see a Turkey v Russia final but they are the 2 teams that have shown the most resilience.

As a side note for tomorrow's game Spain v Italy....interesting to see Luis Arragones has started a war of words by saying Gattuso is not a great player....well done Luis...the guy aint even playing tomorrow!!! I sincerely hope the Spanish put the Italians out mainly because as far as free flowing football goes it would be better to see a Spain v Russia semi-final...that is a neutral's point of view though.

yeah its really OVER....oh well, i still have Germany or maybe Turkey left standing on my teams..i was shocked the way Dutch played they werent there but.... probably thats the way soccer is all about?unpredictable.....:(

For tomorrow's game ..i havent seen Spaniards the way they play but i hope they will beat Italians out of shit.
could it be 3 wins in a row is a curse?? yikes hope not.If you have thought Portugal had 3 wins then they were down , here came the Dutch--3 wins then down..then ..oh my goodness.....not ...the last team standing please i dont want to say the team or people will throw me tomatoes.and think of it those 2 out of 3 giants teams were down!

but i wish them the best ..please Spain.....beat Italians!!!!!!

haha! I hope Spain win too, Italy have been smiling for 2 years too long already :P

Russia really played well today, Arshavin ran the show and hopefully he'll be plying his trade over here next season, fantastic player.

Obviously as I'm english, I don't want Germany to get through to the final, so heres to a Turkey Russia final, and i don't care who wins right now :P

I've not got a lot against them mate too be honest, its just from a footballing point of view I'd like to see Spain progress as the possibility of Italy v Germany final just does not do it for me. Spain at the moment are a much more watchable side....ingenuity....pace....flair & goals in the team....sadly Italy really do not have it for some reason.
Now put someone like Del Piero at his prime into the mix & might've been a different story...but he's a long way past that.....as is Italy's time in the tournament. Nothing personal I just wanna see Spain progress.

Damn right. All this hated on the Italian NT is uncalled for. Get over the whole negative tactics/grosso dived/team of only defenders deal. Italians play football to win and they win with their heads held high. I cant wait to see the new 4-1-4-1 formation that Donadoni intends to try out. I sincerely hope though, that Don would be sane enough to pick Quagliarella over a wholly unimpressive Camoranesi.

Forza Azzurri!

Lol tall statements. Italy/Germany does not cut it for you? Lets go back 2 years shall we? Which game was, pray tell me the most exciting match in WC 06?

Probably the South Korea v Spain one for me funnily enough....Korea knocked Spain out in an enthralling 3-2 victory againsy massive odds & ended up just falling short of the final.

What would a game from 2 years ago have as a bearing on this tournament in any case? I'm going on the evidence of this tournament & looking at the teams who've entertained me & are likely to do so further.

Can you honestly say watching Italy in a 0-0, 1-1 draws & 2-1 against a shockingly poor France side....which incidentally was the worst game of the tournament so far would lead you to wanting (as a neutral) them reach the semi-final/final? I think it would be a travesty if the Italians won it....purely because of the entertainment factor & because they are (for Italy) a very poor side.

Arshavin for Arsenal! Woohoo!

Hiddink is a freakin genius! I don't know what he's feeding the Russians cuz I want some of that. Their pace never slowed down throughout the game.

I hope Spain makes a mess out of the Italians.

I think you'll find that many of us have been calling for an IMPROVEMENT from Italy...I typically like the way Italian teams play football. Tactically nd defensively brilliant, wonderful passers, physical, great pace and strength on the ball and generally the best counter-attackers and finishers in world football! So, can you blame neutrals like me for being disappointed by the apalling rubbish they have produced so far????

Funny all the teams that won the group stages convincingly and rested players for the final group stage game, are out.

Just leaves Spain.
On paper Spain should win, they are in good form.
But knockout stages is different.

Hey Asian chick, you are acting worse thn any Italian player lol.
Italy just arent FIFA or media darlings like Brazil or England.
Brazil do everything Italy is accused of, but nary a bad word said.
And England well, what can u say lol.

Damn righ they are, I was reading yesterday & it was quite funny too be honest.....Christian Panuuci winding the Spanish up over the fact that they haven't beaten the Italians in over 88 years of tournament football. So who does the game really favour? Form wise Spain.....history wise the Italians.

I think form goes out the window sometimes. Especially in knockout cup football.

Kinda like derby matches in that nothing is more important than that one game. Be it Liverpool vs Everton or Milan vs Inter, if all these clubs were the bottom two in their respective leagues, it would still make for a compelling occasion.

So too Spain vs Italy.

The head games have been played and I wouldn't count on any self destruction within Spain's ranks with reported rifts between Aragones, Spain's coach and Torres and Sergio Ramos. I think Spain are feeding Italy what they want them to hear.

Make no mistake. Spain will be ready to break the standing order of history and Italy will have to come out and play to stop the Spaniards from carving them up.

Can't wait. Can you? This could easily have been the final many neutral people would have wanted.

I refer you to my earlier post where I clearly stated that I was disgusted by how poor Brazil were against Argentina in their recent match. And in case you haven't noticed, the media and fans are tearing a new Dunga a new one. They are outraged by the poor level of football being played.

Russia were again magnificent last night. They are playing some wonderful football, great advertisement for the game and proving that you can win if you PLAY the game the right way.
