Of course everyone has what they are attracted to. I used my experience to explain why I think some women are this way. As a fat woman, my opinion is as valid as any other fat chick's opinion. | |

Posted: 7/2/2008 4:56:39 AM | Visually, I do find myself attracted to men who are thinner than average, actually (which is not typical for women - most don't want a scrawny guy). I have dated all types though, and have even thought a bit of belly on some of my guys to be quite cute and comforting (and fun to cuddle), but in general, visually, I am attracted to thinner or average body shapes, and do enjoy looking at athletic toned bodies to some extent (but don't have a strong desire to date men with those, because I guess I associate really ripped bodies with being a dumb jock). I would also find my own body slightly more visually attractive if I could lose the weight, but it's not part of my personal philosophy to get too hung up on that, or to make myself feel bad about that all the time (though I am trying to lose some). I find skinnier than average women unattractive though, to the point of revulsion at the extreme level whereas I don't find an extremely overweight woman's body to be repulsive. I even find a slightly overweight woman's body to be attractive. I think we are innately attracted to a woman with curves (indication of womanliness and a certain health level and energy storage level that allows a woman to be child-bearing) so I am not that surprised that some men find my body type attractive. Whereas extra weight and "curves" on a man doesn't subconsciously indicate things a woman might be looking for - powerful, active, mobile, quick (hunter/gatherer skills) and masculine.
However, I would not be offended to find out that larger men also are attracted to average or thin body types, and have met overweight men that do. I don't think just because you've gained extra weight, that has any real bearing on your own visual preferences. Just like those preferences wouldn't really change if someone lost the weight suddenly. It may make a difference though in who actually winds up matching up with who, but that isn't just about what attracts you, but who is in turn attracted back to you. But as an overweight woman, I don't actually have trouble attracting the thinner guys that are to my own personal preference, so you'll rarely find me with a bigger (overweight) man.

I find that most of my friends are always saying that men like larger women.
However, my experience has been that men of all sizes (including large men) are NOT into BBWs.
Has anyone else found this?

liked BBW who are not originally from the South, where I live. I also find that most of the men that I have met who are aged 40-60 have been very particular regarding a woman's height and weight and appearance. The younger men seem to be alot more tolerate of women who are not the "norm", so to speak. Appearance seems to be 90% of a person's attractiveness, which I find to be a sad commentary regarding society's values. | |

I'm not stick thin, but guys with a little meat on their bones it attractive to me than someone with a 20 pack tummy, but I wouldn't pass it up if that 20 pack came my way. | |

I also mean somewhat overweight and very curvy rather than extreme. I suspect most men don't go for overweight women, actually. But enough do. By the time the marriage came to an end I was completely not attracted to him and felt like he was my child rather than my husband. He's a lovely man, but I couldn't get past him being so small--seemed the more weight he lost the shorter he became. I'm back to my old love of guys a few inches taller and not painfully skinny. | |

well i think its the old stereotype thing, i was totally ignored till i lost 6 stone in weight know everyone wants to be my friend, i havent changed im still the same old me, which i think proves my point.
i think it also depends what you mean by fat guy?
are we talking 5ft tall and cuddly, or over 6ft and cuddly.
no matter how we sugar coat it, it does all come down to looks, and some guys can carry weight off a hell of a lot better than some. personally i dont like skinny guys, but not sure i would go out with someone if they were over 18 stone.
i think larger women have the same problem as larger men not getting dates, i was a size 24 six months ago, i got sick of being abused/bullied and name calling, since ive been a 14/16 i only been abused once (fattie) but like i told him you looked in a mirror lately lol
im not looking for a date at the moment cause frankly im sick of all the sex pest sharks out there, but i think only a larger guy would accept me.

Posted: 7/5/2008 6:53:42 AM | Call me a hypocrite, but I don't go for the really large guys. Maybe because i'm not use to being this large myself. Since most of my weight was gained due to health problems, I am now trying to take it off.
I like to be with men that are physically active b/c that helps to motivate me at the same time and we can focus on a healthy lifestyle together.
Normally I am attracted to tall, strong men. I don't mind some meat on their bones, in fact I prefer it, but not very large or obese. And I don't do stick thin, gotta have something to hold on too, lol.
I'd say as long as they aren't too large and into living a healthy lifestyle, im all for it.
As long as they have the stamina to keep up with me in certain areas, its all good.  | |

I have been heavy for most my Life and I bike swim go to the gym and I know guys as well who do the same

It wasn't a reflection of THEIR weight, as one of them was about 120 pounds, the other 180, and the third 220 (not in that order). So their weight had nothing to do with it. I don't know why they preferred large guys, I'm just glad they did.
However, my experience has been that men of all sizes (including large men) are NOT into BBWs.
You are very, very wrong. It just depends on the guy. But there are plenty, PLENTY of US who like BBWs. I do. Why? I don't have a clearcut reason - I'm just more attracted to BBWs, and I prefer them. It has nothing to do with their personalities or anything like that, it's just a physical thing (which being a BBW is a physical thing anyway). | |

Young gals are materialistic! They want "arm candy" like the guys do, but after years of maturity, we know what makes us tick....and it has nothing to do with physique!!
My late husband of 40 yrs. was a heavy man, somewhat heavy when we met and throughout our marriage! Kind of a little larger "Dr. Phil". I am a full-figured gal, and I loved having someone to grab onto.
I still LOVE a heavy guy, but can't seem to find any....anyone HELP? | |
