I recently answered a help wanted ad and the woman who interviewed me had an ashtray on her desk and was actually smoking during the interview. Is that even legal in a workplace in Indiana?
There are no statewide laws or ordinances on the books (yet) in regards to this issue. It is up to the individual counties and municipalities to enact such legislation. Deleware county ordinance states you cannot smoke in any public business buildings except bars and places where the patrons are over 21 years of age. Marion county, on the other hand, has a tougher ordinance and you cannot even smoke in the bars!
Which I think is kind of silly. If you're in a bar, are you really concerned about your health?
