| Plentyoffish Music using IMEEM - How To Use Posted: 5/1/2008 9:22:05 AM | went on Amazon.com, and even bought a couple of songs. Many Songs from Amazon.com are still D.R.M copy-protected and you won't be able to upload them without streaming & copying them through your Audio card and re-compressing them to MP3.
does anyone hve a suggestion for downloading a flash player to a mac? went to the download flash button and when it tries to install, it tells me there is still a browser running, if there is it is not visible.
| Try downloading the Software to your Hard Drive first instead of launching the Installer while Online. Then shut your Browser down and install the newly downloaded File. |

| help! no autoplay Posted: 5/1/2008 8:09:37 PM | | I got it to load on my profile, but can we get it to automaticly start playing when our profile is viewed? any help is apreciated!! Amy | |

| Plentyoffish Music. Posted: 5/1/2008 8:50:08 PM | Correct me if I'm wrong but now I can embed imeem code so people will be able to listen to a 30sec clip of my fave song. Wow... Useless. It takes longer to read the instruction than for the clip to finish playing. Seriously.
Why not just allow embedding in general. One simple code from myflashfetish . com and voila. Unless imeem pays you guys for this - then suit yourselves.

It takes longer to read the instruction than for the clip to finish playing. Seriously. Fortunately or unfortunately that is what it takes to convey to Users how it works. You could spend twice that much Time on the 'Imeem' Site reading up on it.

I got it to load on my profile, but can we get it to automaticly start playing when our profile is viewed? You can for Videos. Simply change the aus=false/ Switch in your 'Embedded Code' to aus=true/ and it will Autoplay when someone views your Profile.
How do I create a music playlist? Tutorial is up.

| Plentyoffish Music. Posted: 5/1/2008 9:19:57 PM | Yeah, I'm pretty sure that it's imeem's fault as well. That's why I suggested different service - these guys give me a bad DRM vibe. Well, anyway I hope this works out somehow, b/c the concept is awesome. I'll keep testing.
P.S. I was pointing out the 30 sec clip length, not taking a stab at the instructions which are completely fine btw.

| Plentyoffish Music. Posted: 5/2/2008 7:49:04 AM | | You must copy and paste the code in your profile.Under about you or your interest. If this doesnt work let me know!!! | |
|
| Plentyoffish Music. Posted: 5/2/2008 11:36:54 AM | My understanding is that auto play can be set-up for video but not audio yet. As many have said before, it will be awesome when it can also be set up for audio.
I have visited a guy"s profile that has autoplay. His song list is not even posted in his "ABOUT ME" section. How do you suppose he did that? I really like hearing his music while reading his profile. Makes me want to move to California!!! How powerful is that?! Would love to have autoplay feature.
Good work, guys! You moderators are the heat! Tina

| Plentyoffish Music. Posted: 5/2/2008 6:47:16 PM | ok. so I read all the post and I can get video and music to play, just not automatically. Still, at least it's better than nothing, folks. I did not pay a dime, either, so I'm not sure why people are doing it unless they really want the songs. Maybe some people just aren't as computer savvy, so that's why they keep bugging the moderator. but it's FREE, so we really can't complain | |

I don't see any evidence of that working for a video play list, at least as far as i've been able to test it ...
... seems that even if you change the aus=false/ switch on the embed code to aus=true/ , what ever happens behind the scenes here on POF, the switch does not take and reverts back to aus=false/.
Viewing the source code of my profile verifies that it is switched back to false.
.... beats me

| No Reversions, as the original embedded Code either Takes or it doesn't, there is no switching back of any sort. This is not the first Time "Sudden Functioning Changes" have occurred since I may have pointed out Errors in Policies or Anomalies in several Posts previously. |

| Plentyoffish Music. Posted: 5/4/2008 6:03:21 PM | | I got it to load on my profile, but the music doesn't seem to start while the profile is viewed. What can I do? Any help please? | |

| Plentyoffish Music. Posted: 5/4/2008 8:24:26 PM | I got it to load on my profile, but the music doesn't seem to start while the profile is viewed. Just remember, the Music from your Profile is actually streamed from Imeem to some Profile Viewer. Perhaps your Internet Connection is slow, it may not be so for most People looking at your Profile. One can always expect to wait a few Seconds before the Media Controls become visible anyways.

| Plentyoffish Music using IMEEM - How To Use Posted: 5/5/2008 6:53:19 PM | So has 'Anyone' actually got a Video Playlist to autostart? Anyone succeed with the aus=true switch? I'd like to see someones profile where they got it to autostart..
| It appears not to take that Switch anymore and is set to default to "False" / Ticketoride |

| Plentyoffish Music using IMEEM - How To Use Posted: 5/6/2008 8:56:12 AM | The instructions they give out suck, i'm sorry to say. After much trial and error with what they told me on this thread, try this:
Go to imeem.com, create an account, and the minute you select a song to listen to from their 'search' function (remembering to pick 'music' from the pull down menu dontcha know) go into 'song details' and listen to the song--this is important since more than one version of the song is out there and, unfortunately, some suck--then click onto the "playlist" thingy, and when it asks for a 'description' just write in the name you think is appropriate, say MY POF for example.
If you want, keep adding songs; when you're done, go back to your profile home page on imeem and find your newly created songlist up near the top right; click onto it ... when you see the 'embed' code COPY it...then go into your Plentyoffish edit mode for your profile here and put it where it says for 'Imeem code here' and paste.
I'd love to hear your list when you finish !
I see your display of graciousness and thanks for the site and new feature, prominently precedes your intuitive regurgitation ... Thank You - Trappedonbayst

| Plentyoffish Music using IMEEM - How To Use Posted: 5/6/2008 1:07:54 PM | Thanks for the response Ticketoride =] -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Is there any push from the Mods or the site owner to add auto-start functionality? Seems like a lot of the POF members want it. Not complaining at all, I am happy with my free service =] Just curious if that's in the drawing boards at this point?...
Is there any push from the Mods or the site owner to add auto-start functionality?
| No. Autostart is OK, providing each User has the Option to turn it off while surfing Profiles. If the Admin can not code a global Profile Media Running Option, then I'd rather not have 'Autoplay' on anything. |

Is there any push from the Mods Not our (moderator's) call actually - and I don't know what admin's view is on the subject.
Some may find it somewhat intrusive, distracting and potentially obnoxious depending on what someone slaps on their profile.
Sure, you can argue to have your speakers off, but I would consider a manual intervention every time I go to a specific site as a negative - just my opinion.

Applying that line of thinking. If someone went to a page and found it intrusive, and obnoxious, wouldn't that be a valid indicator for that person to then dismiss that person as a dating candidate?
Because really...when it comes down to it. Adding music to the profile, and autostarting it, says something about the person. And that's IS what their profile is all about afterall, no?
But I see a way to reconcile this! A mass POF poll on whether music should have an auto-start option!

| Plentyoffish Music using IMEEM - How To Use Posted: 5/6/2008 7:09:40 PM | At what part does it cut off?
Try 2 new and different songs and see what happens.
Some songs cut off at 20%. You'll see that spattered throughout this thread.

If someone went to a page and found it intrusive, and obnoxious, wouldn't that be a valid indicator for that person to then dismiss that person as a dating candidate? possibly yes - however, the uploaded piece could be the owner's original video, and if the recorded settings are too high, there's nothing like blasting someone out of their chair, even if it were to gentle crooning of some jazz singer or even Sinatra - it's somewhat like cruising through Myspace, and being blasted at almost every page with some distorted crap, always having to adjust your volume etc ... imagine some uninitiated users in the workplace .... whoooops ....
I'm not really against it but one has to to take into account "usability" and the "user experience" - you err on the side of caution type thing ...
Because really...when it comes down to it. Adding music to the profile, and autostarting it, says something about the person. And that's IS what their profile is all about afterall, no? auto start or not - the profile is still the profile - if someone is really interested, they'll start it up ... perhaps?
But I see a way to reconcile this! A mass POF poll on whether music should have an auto-start option Don't know if the 4% of the userbase who use the forums is "the" gauge - but again, that's an Admin call ...
