Posted: 4/18/2008 10:12:33 AM | ^^Oh thanks for reminding about the dolphins video, I couldn't see it from work yesterday and I totally forgot since.
My video is of a large group of Pacific White Sided Dolphins that swam towards my boat when I stopped to video record them. Much to my surprise and obvious delight the dolphins swam right towards me, surrounded me and swam right under the boat. If anyone views a video clip be prepared to allow for some extra seconds to download before it can be played.
Tyee, I love wildlife, can you tell me where it was and the date also so I can do some research on the possibilities to go at that place at the best time of the year ? Thanks. | |

Sure, no problem, I can at least share what I am able. On March 13, 2005 I was returning from a fishing trip. I was nearly home, perhaps a mile from the harbour in Powell River, BC when I encountered the dolphins. It is the shore of Powell River you see in earlier portions of the video clip.
It was the first and only time I've seen the dolphins I have spent a lot of hours on the ocean too so was a rare gift of nature for me. Sometimes I see Harbour Porpoises (very boring) and on two occasions have seen Orcas here. Sea Lions pass through every year. Harbour Seals are common year-round pests.
I did hear from a couple of friends who have homes with views of the ocean they saw a large group of dolphins pass through here last Saturday.
I think if one were to get to Vancouver Island and get up to the northern half, perhaps Telegraph Cove, where there are orca watching tours, you might see more dolphins too. I really don't know.
Good luck and I hope you one day to get to experience such a thrill too.

My Grandma lived on Quadra Island and ran the post office there for many many many years ( since I was born) and she had bay windows in her back room overlooking the ocean, so I have many memories of the marine life....your video brought back alot of memories...thanks for sharing. NOW GIVE ME A SMOKE .... i mean some prawns

Posted: 4/20/2008 4:07:11 PM | As some of you have already seen, I did use the new feature to post a video clip, my clip of Pacific White Sided Dolphins swimming around and under my boat.
I have experimented some more with my Imeem account and now have a playlist with a total of three short videos, all of which I took near Powell River. The videos will play in sequence. However by clicking Playlist you can choose which to view. In addition to the dolphins you will now find Sea Lions at Vivian Island and another of 5 Orcas at Grant Reefs.
Sea Lions are noisy critters, brace yourself. The mature bull you see is huge but is difficult to appreciate in the video.
I decided share these videos of marine mammals on my profile to show what kind of life I enjoy here.
I hope you all enjoy those new videos as much as you did the dolphins.<img src=http://www.plentyoffish.com/smiles/icon_201.gif border=0>

With respect to a POF profile I have no interest playing music or video clips if the clips were created by someone else, because that doesn't really tell me much about the person.
When Imeem was first brought to POF they were hosting user-generated videos as well as commercial/copyrighted content. The user-generated video was the only feature that appealed to me, so I opened an Imeem account.
I have several video clips that I have recorded and produced myself. I produced some short clips specifically for my POF profile for they would present more information about me and my life, and users could hear my voice as well. I know the videos enhanced my profile and received numerous compliments on them.
When Imeem discontinued hosting user-generated content I closed my Imeem account.
If a similar service that hosts user-generated content for POF users ever comes available again I'll certainly consider adding my videos clips to my profile. | |
