| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/17/2008 5:42:30 PM | Im not much of a cook Red, but I don't mind doing dishes!
I eat really boring food at home, but I live in the land of wanton Tex-Mex. We eat out a lot down here. (Okay, I lied. I can cook, but it's always a big deal, so it doesnt happen often.)

"HOW DOMESTIC ARE YOU?" With your host, Red Casandra...
Hey, hey, hey!
This is your chance to shine....and impress.
But also to think about the role that food preparation (or rather food preparation as a form of attentiveness) has in a relationship (any relationship).
Is it only about satisfying our (carnal) needs? Or is it also about showing another person that you care enough that you will take time to prepare something for them?
A man I was seeing some time ago told me that he wanted to cook a dinner for me. He came to my home and brought ingredients with him. Before he started cooking, he built a fire in the fireplace, moved the chair for me close to the fire (twas a cold evening) and made me sit there and enjoy myself... Every few minutes he came to check on me.... make sure I am comfortable and warm... have enough wine in my glass.... He made an amazing meal, but it was not the food that made the evening special, but the attention that he paid to me... gentle gestures that have shown me that he cared.
Putting some thought into it... finding out what a girl likes, as someone suggested earlier in a thread or offering to her something that comes from your heart (a signature dish ) goes a long way...
Heck, even I would be willing to cook for the right man... IF he would sign a release form beforehand... and arrange for firefighters to be on alert.

| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/17/2008 5:47:19 PM | I'll do it for a big party, but it's been a while.
I think my ambiguously gay best friend made me do it.
Besides, I never met a cook who didnt think I was great while I was doing the dishes.
I'm much better in the garden. I have two green thumbs.

Yes, and I'll cook what ever is in season and is in my garden, just love veggies as it accents all foods, enjoy comfort foods, be it meat, fish, etc or veg makes no dif and we can do the dishes together.

| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/17/2008 6:11:05 PM | I can cook for myself. I don't often cook for others, as I'm worried they won't like my cooking. I have simple tastes. Rice, with some spices, or maybe pasta with a home-made sauce, or a jacket potato, and some salad. Or maybe some smoked mackerel with peppercorns, lightly grilled. But always with salad. Everything I eat is with salad, and usually with olive oil.
I guess I'd make plenty of rice, with tarragon, some basil or oregano, or maybe some thyme, with a ton of salad, with carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, celery, maybe some radishes, or some peppers, sprinkled around the rice, covered in olive oil. Mmmmm....makes me hungry just thinking about it.

| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/17/2008 6:14:24 PM | I love cooking and experimenting with new dishes. It's fun and when you produce something that tastes good it's a nice pat on the back. When you produce something that tastes bad, it makes you want to improve. I take those situations as a personal challenge. I also extract a lot of cooking tips wherever I can (magazines, Food Network etc.).
I don't really have a specialty. I can cook a lot of grandma and mom's dishes and I've also created a few of my own (such as a veggie chili I recently made).

Kicked him to the curb, dumped him, brushed him off, told him you just wanted to be friends, told him you hope he finds the love of his life... that sorta thing.
Just wondering.... 'cause sometimes I've cooked for women and they write my name down on the ' Gay Friends ' list.
Which solar system are you from?

| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/17/2008 6:28:18 PM | ^^^ Obviously I am not with him anymore, or I would not be here... and list myself as single.
But, that had nothing to do with that evening... and I did not write him down as a "Gay Friend". In fact, I made the breakfast.
Oh, I am from a galaxy far, far away...
So, English is not my native language and certain nuances escape me. Thanks for clarifying.

Nice... He cooked dinner, hopefully you had fun rubbing body parts together, and then you cooked him breakfast. Excellent!
Being tossed onto the ' Gay Friends ' list is one of the biggest insults a man can ever experience especially before you get to see her naked and swap bodily fluids.

Cool...
Now I know I can mess with your mind anytime I like....

I would like to know: Can You Cook?
I can make reservations that would make a woman's head spin.
Would you find it enjoyable to prepare a meal for a special lady?
Actually yeah. I can cook. I honestly don't understand it when people say they can't cook. It's really not that difficult. No one's asking you to invent some brilliant new dish, just follow the directions.
Oh wait...yeah ok. 'Follow the directions'. Now I get why some people can't cook...
And, what would you prepare (a signature dish perhaps...)?
Long time ago, I posted this in the recipes forum:
4 filets of branzino (i.e. Sea Bass) 2 or 3 tomatos, sliced Half cup of sliced black olives Quarter to half cup of feta cheese 1 crushed garlic clove 2 tsps of butter 1 or 2 oz of Pinot Grigio (Argiolas has several really great whites, but another dry white would work well. Try out different ones.) Parsley
Put the branzino in a large dish for baking. Cover with the tomatos, olives, feta, garlic, butter and parsley. A bit of the wine on each filet and a glass for the cook. Bake at 425 for 10-15 minutes or until the fish is done.
I'll add now that Argiolas S'elegas is a good wine for this.

| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/17/2008 6:44:02 PM | I CAN cook prefer not to most of the time....ehh.
"I still own handcuffs and a paddle. And know how to use them."
I have a set of paddles, no handcuffs....it'd be wicked to play you in ping pong!!

| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/17/2008 6:45:03 PM | I prefer the microwave. I hate spending more time on preparing food than I do eating it.
Would I enjoy cooking for someone else? Not as much as getting fast food.

| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/17/2008 7:32:51 PM | | Hell yeah I can cook. I'm not talking out of a can or box either but from scratch. I worked with a chef and picked up a lot of things from him. And it doesn't hurt that he's one of my best friends so I could always turn to him for any advice that I need. | |
|
| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/17/2008 7:34:17 PM | I would not prepare a meal for a "special lady", because I have no clue how. And even if I did know how , I don't think I'd really like cooking much. I was raised in a very old-fashioned type household. Cooking was for the women, just like cleaning up afterwards while the men drank coffee or tea and discussed...politics, or what have you. I never learned or had a desire to. Have always been either cooked for, or just bought food. | |
