| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/17/2008 7:50:41 PM | I can, and do...
I have been known to make things up that taste good.
Traditional manly bar-b-cueing of course, but also reknowned for pot roast and a killer shrimp, zucchini, and pasta dish.
I enjoy cooking, so of course I would cook for a special someone! As for what to make...probably depends on the whom I am making it for.

Can You Cook?
Yes, I love to cook. Cooking is a creative outlet for me. I enjoy taking recipes I have either been taught or read and altering them (sometimes prior to making them the first time) just to see how they turn out. This probably comes from my grandmother who always added ingredients by feel rather than by recipe.
Would you find it enjoyable to prepare a meal for a special lady?
Most definitely, especially a when it is unexpected. I eat simply when I am on my own, but enjoy cooking more elaborate meals when there are friends, family or a special someone to share the meal with.
I also appreciate having a meal cooked for me. Then I can express that appreciation by doing the dishes.
And, what would you prepare (a signature dish perhaps...)?
Only imagination and the fact I am a vegetarian are my limitations (sometimes I just cook meat on the side for guests and add it in at the end of the preparation though).
Perhaps enchiladas stuffed with brown rice, vegetables and fresh jalapeƱos and topped with salsa and a 3 cheese blend. Or a Orange ginger stir fry with tofu chicken, cashews and dried cranberries.

I get to wear a female bear suit and wanna chase a man through the forest Funny coincidence there. I was talking to someone I met here and said I would have her over for dinner some evening and she asked if I would actually cook for her like it was the strangest thing a guy had ever suggested to her. So, I asked if it was unusual, she had never had it offered. So me, being the smart@ss that I am, said "I'm not going to make it as a bachelor am I? I'm not doing it right. I'm like those animals people try to keep as pets and release back in to the wild. I'm too domesticated and will probably end up being mauled by a bear or torn apart by jackels.
So, it's funny to me your suggestion of the bear suit.
|
| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/17/2008 8:44:44 PM | i can.
its on a somewhat limited basis, i cook very well only the foods i like the best. other then that, not really unless you consider half-prepaired and canned food + some extras cooking.

Ok, people... what's with all dish washing? Does no one have a dishwasher anymore?

You poor, dear man.
Read those two sentences again... and think about her offer... If I were you, I'd be afraid... VERY afraid.
Heck, I am afraid of Aussie and I have a ManBat to fight her off.... and alien super-powers.
I think you might end up like a dish.... so, better watch it...

Ok, people... what's with all dish washing? Does no one have a dishwasher anymore?
Seems a waste of time and money because you have to really rinse them good and everything right before you put them in and scrub off the stuff that won't come off in the dishwasher. Most of the time people around the house don't no matter how many times you tell them. So might as well just do them by hand since you end up pretty much doing them before putting them in the dishwasher...

I would like to know: Can You Cook? Durn tootin'!
I enjoy cooking but I don't do it very much home alone. It's no fun cooking without an audience, so if I were to have a woman over I'd love to cook a whole dinner for her.
|
| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/17/2008 9:27:15 PM | Yeah. I love to cook. In fact, I prefer to cook. Not only will it impress someone, but it gives me the chance to tailor the dish exactly how I like it and ensure that it's a well-balanced meal. I make a mean beef-chow mein, killer spinach salads, and a broccoli-casserole dish that'll rip the pants right off of her. Just kidding, but not really.
I grew up in a family where my dad did all the real cooking. I'm fine with having dinner prepared and served to me, but honestly I prefer to make it myself. But who said that dinner has to be prepared just by one person? Why not make a lasagna together or something? I've done it in the past in a date-like format, and it worked out really well.

| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/18/2008 4:35:16 AM | This is actually one of the many things I'm in the process of learning how to do. My best friend who is like my brother is an amazing chef. He's actually a better cook than the girl he lives with.
Anyway, I've been learning all kinds of stuff from him.
Yeah, I guess it would be cool to be able to invite a girl over and cook for her, but that's not really why I'm learning. I'm doing it more for me.

I prefer the microwave. I hate spending more time on preparing food than I do eating it.
Would I enjoy cooking for someone else? Not as much as getting fast food. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say MOST WOMEN would love to cook with their man. There's something incredibly sensual about preparing a meal together.... the shapes of certain foods, the feel of it in your hands, the smells and tantalizing tastes as you're chopping or sauteing (spell check please) ..... feeding each other while cooking to make sure your partner is enjoying the sensations.....
Rent 9 1/2 weeks and tell me food and the opposite sex isn't sexy!! MRAOW.....
|
| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/18/2008 5:01:50 AM | I've had 2 guys cook for me;
an old boyfriend made eggs with bite-sized cubes of hotdogs (illlllllllll!) and the other, a date made salmon with broccoli. No flavor. No zest. Zilch. Neither killed me but I'm a little gun shy about a guy who offers to make dinner for me. I appreciate a man who knows how to work a grill. That's hott :)
I say leave the cooking to me.

| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/18/2008 5:54:28 AM | | I'm teaching myself how to cook right now, and I'm getting better with every meal I make. As for my signature dish, that would most definitely be my beef chili, served over a bed of jalapeƱos and white rice. | |
|
| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/18/2008 6:00:03 AM | Can I cook? Damn skippy. Do I enjoy it? Sure. My Mom wrote a cookbook that went into a second or third printing, I think.
I dunno if I have any favorites, but I'm partial to shellfish and/or something like chicken tetrazini (sp?). I'm not big on the sit down candlelit dinner thing, I enjoy eating in the kitchen, standing over the sink, snick-snacking through the evening. I guess it's a southern kitchen...thing.
Now I'm hungry and it's not even 9am, thanks for that, Red.

| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/18/2008 6:39:46 AM | Yep...just about anything. & pick out a good wine for it, too.
I still maintain that trail mix in an urban setting like Jacksonville is more correctly termed sidewalk mix. So quit cheating or I will report you to the dancing green banana people.

| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/18/2008 6:46:52 AM | ^^^^Finally!!! Doodes from FL! I have started thinking that everyone who can cook must live at least a 1000 miles away.
I'm not big on the sit down candlelit dinner thing, I enjoy eating in the kitchen, standing over the sink, snick-snacking through the evening. I guess it's a southern kitchen...thing. That... and sweet tea, huh?
Now I'm hungry and it's not even 9am, thanks for that, Red. You are welcome. Eating breakfast will keep you healthy
I still maintain that trail mix in an urban setting like Jacksonville is more correctly termed sidewalk mix. You!! We discussed this already... stop making fun of my signature dish... and tell us what yours is. And... where's that dude with the French Toast recipe?
So quit cheating or I will report you to the dancing green banana people I am the Crimson Empress... Dancing Green Bananas have no jurisdiction over me.
*add FL dawds to her list... wanders if they are housebroken and if they have yellow spandex shorts*

wanders if they are housebroken and if they have yellow spandex shorts I had a pair of silver ones when I was younger (18ish) Damn they weer comfortable.
|
| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/18/2008 7:13:47 AM | Course I can cook but I really prefer to eat it raw. | |
|
| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/18/2008 7:33:40 AM | Housebroken?.........................Check! Spandex shorts?.......................Well, the black ones worn for biking, etc.
Signature dish?
No specific, single one.
I make a mean Seafood Gumbo. From scratch pizza. Pan-Asian stir fry. How about Jamaican curried lobster w/ a mango chutney? Potato-Leek soup w/ sherry & shallots?
Cooking dinner together is a great date.....from shopping for it (always easy to get into fun trouble @ the store!) to comparing techinques in the kitchen, to drinking that extra bottle of nice wine that found it's way into the cart.
|
| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/18/2008 8:07:20 AM | Once a year, about a month ago this year, I put on a breakfast for about 150-200 of my favorite people.
I've been called upon for the Thanksgiving turkey or the Christmas ham for several family get togethers.
I have been told my popcorn is the best.

| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/18/2008 8:23:52 AM | I'm single and I shop at Costco. Bad combination. So quite often (maybe 2 times a week) I invite friends over to help finish my food. I love to cook and I'm fairly good at it so there is no shortage of dinner guests.
My signature dishes are: Appetizer: *Spring Garden Salad with walnuts, cranberries, blackberries, blueberries and aged Gouda, Stilton and Mozzarella di Bufala. *Tomato and Red pepper soup, accented with steamed clams, sour cream and thyme. *Artichoke in drawn butter
Entree *Oxtail Soup (tomato base) *Osso Bucco *Pasta with an Arrabiata/Alfredo rose mix garnished with Sea Urchin and fresh sweet basil
I usually just buy dessert from the store.
