I'm gonna go out on a limb and say MOST WOMEN would love to cook with their man. There's something incredibly sensual about preparing a meal together.... The saying comes to mind: Too many cooks spoil the broth. When I'm cooking, I'm in a zone. I don't cook from recipes, purely from instinct. The last thing I'd want is for someone to distract when I'm dissecting vegetables with a razor sharp blade. I don't trust anyone with my kitchen knives either. They're razor sharp and delicate hand made knives from Japan.

| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/18/2008 8:46:47 AM | Yes I can cook, and quite well. In a previous life I made a living as a chef and had some formal training. I've forgotten a lot over the years, though I still know my way around a kitchen. | |

| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/18/2008 9:33:01 AM | Yes, I can cook. Spend most of my forum time over in the recipes forum with a few of my favorites. I can, but dislike, the cordon bleu nouvell cuisine type cookery-pookery and make mostly comfort-type foods. I do like cooking for others, and a menu would vary for the person I'm cooking for and where the meal was going to be... Dinner in, picnic, BBQ (woods or beach- they're different foods), rustic or urban, ethnic- which one?
But I've been told the pork chops I make are "to die for" so maybe a BBQ: appetizer of grilled & seafood stuffed portobellos, then The Ferryman's grilled chops , herbed rice, fire roasted asparagus or zucchini with a spicy horseradish sauce, and flame-grilled fruits for dessert.
Or maybe really simple- a meat marinara with lots of garlic & oregano over pasta shells, or potato-crusted meatloaf, or stuffed and baked chicken.
Or fancier- Pork tenderloins in balsamic reduction, or venison medallions in garlic aoli with baked squash, or salt-crusted trout.
A lot depends on her tastes and dietary restrictions also.

| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/18/2008 9:53:14 AM | I love to cook for other people, not a fan of cooking for myself. Still have to do it though. I like to change up the recipes and ingredients to see what I can come up with. One of the best for breakfast has been a banana omelete. It may sound weird but OMG its unbelievable. I think being a real cook helps bring out my creative side, so if I was to prepare a meal for a special lady I'd make it so unique that she wouldn't forget it... but in a good way. | |

| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/18/2008 10:59:56 AM | Yes I can cook up a storm and I enjoy doing so frequently (See the little added weight in the photos). I specialize more on southern and cajun cooking.
My mom always said that she taught me to cook and clean so that I would be a good husband for some woman. I got the cooking part down pact, its the cleaning I need to work on.

| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/18/2008 11:05:45 AM | Can I Cook?
I will answer that question with two words...HELL, YES!
Everything from beer battered perch to beef stroganoff. No, I am not a professional chef, but cooking is one of my hobbies.
I figure that my cooking skills are why women are afraid to date me...after a few weeks they gain 20 pounds.
|
| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/18/2008 2:21:52 PM | | Hell yes I can cook, It;s not unknown for people in Australia & Europe to schedule their vacations in the US with dates they know I'll have the BBQs fired up... yes, really. :) | |
|
| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/18/2008 2:28:04 PM | ^^^ When is that BBQ that you talk about?
*flips her hair*

| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/18/2008 3:13:03 PM | Sure can and love it!!! Father owned a restaurant so I know a few tricks....
As I'm from an Italian background, it's always simple, fresh and wholesome food.
No particular favourites but I would probably do something like
Starter - pomodorini olio / aglio (cherry vine tomato salad with herbs / olive oil / balsamic vinegar) - with a nice focaccia to dip in
Main - Tagliatelli carbonara (all freshly made, including the pasta) - no jars blurrrrr.......
Dessert - panna cotta, or a tiramisu
All washed down with a nice Barolo, followed by a cafe corretto
I'm hungry now...... | |

| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/18/2008 3:42:10 PM | I love to cook. turkeys, pork shoulder, baked hams, barbeques, stir fries anything to do with veggies I grew in the garden. I have canned my own pasta sauces, salsas and flavored oils.
What I wont do is bake. that involves following directions which is something I am ocnstitutionally incapable of doing.
i cook. You ask that was great what was it? I say I dunno, i already forget. so you will never have it again so enjoy.
|
| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/18/2008 3:51:36 PM | I can cook a few things. Some nice chicken dishes, a few pasta things, can burn up a good steak dinner, make a couple different salads.
Cooking is alright. I keep it pretty simple when it's just me. Steak/chicken and veggies.

| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/18/2008 8:49:37 PM | Red,
Here's one of my menu items from the "Love Kitchen" that the ladies seem to like:
Roasted Cornish Game Hen stuffed with pork fried rice and pineapple tidbits - baste the hens with a sauce consisting of orange juice, pineapple juice, brown sugar, worcestershire sauce, and white wine. I like to serve this with some steamed asparagus spears (al dente) with a light kiss of lemon butter on them and a small slice of whole grain cranberry bread. A good wine accompaniment is a nice, cold bottle of Riesling or Vouvray.
Now, pick up the rose off of your plate, let me fill your wine glass and plate your meal. Ooooh, yes you do like it! Oops, looks like you spilled a little on your blouse - here I can help you with that...
Bon Apetit!

| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/19/2008 2:31:03 AM | I can cook a FEW things...not much. On the bright side, the few things I can cook never turn out crappy.
My salmon has always turned out pretty good , and rice isn't exactly difficult (my favorite rice is jasmine rice ).
...Right now I can't cook much more than that, unless it's Ramen noodle soup or somethin out of a Hamburger Helper box.
Anyway, yeah I would enjoy cooking for someone. As for what I'd prepare (once I learn how to cook it correctly): it'd probably be some kind of seafood thing, like a shrimp jambalaya (...i think i spelled that right)...since I enjoy seafood and some cajun food.
If not that, the main thing would be ham...one that's so tender and moist, you can just pull the slices of meat off the bone (next time my dad's wife makes it, I'm going to learn how she does that, even if I have to write every freakin thing down. lol )
I'm not sure what I'd do for a side-dish or anything like that --oh well, plenty of time for me to figure it out. lol

Now, not a single one dude claimed profficiency in chippendale AND cooking ... Sadly... Cuz that would be a real keeper.
*looks around*
*starts a music from Full Mounty*
Anyone?

EDIT: I already got few email inquries about this chippendale thing. So, let me clarify... I do not accept applications through email... Feel free to discuss advantages and disadvantages here.
From wiki:
Chippendale dancers are a group of men who provocatively dance for a primarily female audience. They are best known as being shirtless, muscular and wearing little else but bow ties, white cuffs and tight black leather or spandex pants.
Clear now? | |

| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/19/2008 8:47:33 PM | I couldn't cook my way out of a wet paper bag, but I am always willing to clean-up (dishes, etc.).
Well, I can cook a little, but wish I knew more. I can make a good salad
|
| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/19/2008 9:09:09 PM | | I generally like cooking for others, I'm pretty handy around a kitchen too, but I can't tell you what I'd cook because in my experience every now and then you find a vegan, or a woman who doesn't eat red meat, or someone who is allergic to this or just doesn't like that. I'd usually make a point of finding out what kind of things are her favourite and design the meal around that. | |

| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/19/2008 9:17:25 PM | | well red...sadly i had to give up being a chippndale dancer...those chipmonk costumes were too hot in the summer for me...however..my eggplant surprize has been known to knock socks off! Okay Red Cassie & Kyn,
Tomorrow we'll be having my stuffed shells asiago in marinara with Italian sausage in my heart-shaped baking dish with sauteed shrooms on the top and "Amore" spelled-out using red, green, and yellow bell peppers; A fresh salad of crunchy, cold Romaine & Leaf lettuce(s), grape tomatoes, scallions, snap peas, radishes, cucumber, alfalfa and bean sprouts - tossed with my homemade balsamic vinagrette, grated sharp provolove, Italian seasoning, and "Johnny's Salad Elegance; warmed, hard-crusted sourdough rolls with cold butter; and Valpolicella wine.
Hmmm...today's love mix features an eclectic combination of Gypsy jazz, traditional Italian concertina songs, smooth jazz and mellow vocals. I expect (after reading both of your profiles) that our dinner converation(s) will be way too much fun! Because we'll be laughing so much - and to avoid any food spillage mishaps like our previous dinner - I can/will let you sit on my lap and feed you each bite personally if you like?
Oooohhh, for dessert I've prepared decadent, muffin-sized/shaped chocolate brownies with a hot fudge center, these will be served warm on your dessert plates with a topping of gourmet vanilla ice cream and chocolate drizzle. Some of my imported, dark, aromatic coffee is a nice accompaniment. For laughs, I'll do the "Detroit Demolition" for you wearing only boxer shorts and my Tabasco necktie with "We've Got The Funk" by Parliament playing in the background (about as close as I can get to Chippendale's). Dinner at 6:00?

| Can YOU cook? Posted: 4/20/2008 12:51:36 AM | Oh yes I can cook! Food is the great moderator [ only families argue at the table! ] I have a couple of dishes I make that i am very proud of. The film director/producer Paul Rodriguize says, "Not knowing how to cook is like not knowing how to f-ck." | |
