Can YOU cook?

Yes, i cook. “Doesn’t everyone?” would have been my question before reading this thread.
How do people who don’t cook live ? A steady diet of Kraft “Kraparoni and Fake Cheese-Like
Substances”, Big Macs, and Pizza has to get boring after a very short period of time, yes ?

Would you find it enjoyable to prepare a meal for a special lady? And, what would you prepare (a signature dish perhaps...)?

What better way to get someone to ingest those roofies that you can buy on Ebay ?

Yeppers, i have cooked for “Special Ladies” . I don’t have a “Signature Dish” . I do have some nice
China i inherited from my Grandmother. Does that count? ( guaranteed Low Lead Content!)
What i cook if i am entertaining depends on the Season. I like to incorporate fresh vegetables, fruits or herbs from my garden, so the menu in Mid-December is going to be different from what can be
prepared in April, yes ?

I think guys have it easier in this regard. If we even make an attempt at throwing a meal together
most women are impressed. I have had a few people act shocked when a meal i have prepared was
not only been edible, but was not followed by a 911 call for an escort to the nearest stomach pump.

As for breakfast, i have always felt like making something other than toast and coffee ( or Super
Sugared and Bleached to Remove All Nutritional Value Tasty Ohs! Cereal) is a requirement for being a good host. Pancakes, omelets, fruit breads, are not that hard to do .( And a good excuse to sneak out of bed early to shower and brush your teeth) I stopped doing the Breakfast in Bed routine. Hot eggs are a pain in the ...well, where ever they land, and most “guests” seem more comfortable if they have had a chance to shower, etc., before eating. ( But i miss the requests for “clean-up in aisle 2 “ )
Other Domestic Skills : Jeeesh, We either learn to do them all, or hire a maid, yes ?
When i got divorced i had friends asking me how i "learned" to do certain things like laundry, grocery shopping cooking etc etc. I learned to do this kind of stuff as a child or at age 18 when i moved out and did them all through my so called marriage.
Doesn't everyone ??? ( ok, ok, so i suck at sewing and i figure you only need to wash windows before you move ..... but my son does a nice job with buttons)

My mom ran a catering business and I learned how to cook early on, I was also a short order cook in NY. When I was married I generally made most of the meals and did the food shopping to. I love making NY cheesecake from scratch and my favorite dish is chicken paprika which takes a few hours to prepare and cook. I hate those commercials on tv where the man stands in front of the frozen food section and the voice says if it were'nt for them most men would starve. Although I am no expert in fine dinning but I did inherit all my moms recipes when she died and make them once a week, a desert or a main dish. Now I enjoy a great salad with every meal and watch what I am cooking to avoid fats and tons of carbs. If you want my recipes you'll have to contact me and arrange a date, hehe!

Can You Cook?

Yes

Would you find it enjoyable to prepare a meal for a special lady?

Very much so. Nothing better than making a candlelit dinner for a pretty lady.

And, what would you prepare (a signature dish perhaps...)?

I don't have one I call "signature" yet. I'd more be just online printing up recipes to try and put something yummy together with a fine wine.

Yeah, I can cook pretty well. My "seal the deal meal" is a pasta gorgonzola, with sun-dried tomatos and broccoli.

I'm great with the grill, but I learned that venison isn't a good idea for a date. I did a couple venison strips I'd marinaded in shiraz and dill. She was all, "OMG! This is so GOOD" and asked what I'd done. When I told her she freaked, it was like I'd forced cannibalism on her.

I can prepare beans and rice about 10 different ways, and I can even doctor up a couple ifferent MREs into something I wouldn't be embarrassed to serve a date.

I'm all about cooking. I could easily cook on a daily basis, it's the cleaning up that irks me.

I like to think I am a fair cook. My daughters love it when I cook for them, but they are college girls who will eat almost anything home-cooked.

I dont have a signature dish either! If I had to choose my BEST dish, it'd be red raspberry/white chocolate cheesecake, but thats not a meal. I do make spaghetti sauce from the tomatoes I grow, and that gives me a huge sense of accomplishment as well. Ive learned, thru much trial and error, to make a pretty mean alfredo...and it goes good with SO many things...shrimp, grilled chicken, etc.

As for cooking for a special someone, I would really love to! Ive never had the opportunity to make an evening of it, but would like to give it a go at some point. For instance, how about an evening with a good bottle of wine, home alone with that special someone, a long movie, and a nice pan of lasagna for dinner? The important thing for me would be to watch her enjoy it. That would be payment enough.

I dunno...seems to me a guy would have to put up or shut up to prove he can cook. I figured I wsa the last guy around who cooked, till I read this thread!

One of the best new tools for single guys are these lines of "3 or 4 ingredient" cook books. It's real simple, and most importantly FAST. They are usually very large books with pretty pictures. I've found that, with practice, I can have a few dozen recipies under my belt so I can whip up a fun and tasty meal no matter what mood I am in. But the best part is being able to whip up a meal at a lady's house... women love creativity and when you notice/remember what their favorite or dispised foods are (usually if it's in their house, they like it)... but most importantly, when women are hungry- feed them fast. With a creative yet simple dish, you won't run out of things to talk about while you are preparing it. Another favorite game is to try to guess what is in the cabinets before you open them.

The question has been posted in Ask a Girl whether girls appreciate men who can cook (seems like quite a few do).

Hell I'm an awesome cook. I also know women like to see a man in an apron for some reason, so I had someone make one for me. I don't look good in flowers

I have a few signature dishes. Singapore noodles and Korean eggrolls are fun to make together. Another fun meal, at least to eat, is Scampi, but that means you're gonna get messy, and I hope you like garlic.

Oh, yeah. There's that old saying "The way to a man's heart is his stomach" but my experience is it works just as well with women, if not better. I think it's the nurturing effect of giving someone food that you've prepared yourself, something that everyone needs (food) but with a personal component. And we're still somewhat in a world where women provide personal services for men, but if a man is able to reverse things and do something nice for a woman--well, let's just say I've found that it tends to be appreciated.

Absolutely. I learned from the best (my mom) and I worked in a restaurant cooking for a summer. I like to cook, though as many have said, not so much for just myself. If I thought she would enjoy it, I would love to cook for my lady, though it is sometimes seen as effeminate for a guy to know his way around a kitchen, so I don't cook for everyone.
Signature dish...I'm pretty talented with a gas grill (favorite is marinaded chicken breasts) but my all-time favorite meal is Beef Burgundy - 3lbs of beef slow cooked in a gravy made of 3 different kinds of soup, mushrooms, a nice red wine and some extra spices all poured over noodles mixed with sour cream and garlic salt. I think I like that more than I like girls. :)

I can definitely cook and enjoy it quite a bit. Yes cooking for myself isn't as exciting but I still do it often.

Of course I'd cook for a special lady. I don't know if I have any signature dishes but I do make a mean mushroom risotto.

I won't sit here and call myself a good cook, but yes, I can cook when the spirit moves me and the spirit would definitely move me if I was cooking for "RedCass"

My signature dish is called SESEISTA......a pasta-based dish, mixed with red, yellow and green peppers, onions, etc., smothered with extra sharp cheese and baked in the oven. Last time I prepared this dish, I added some Italian sausage to the recipe and not one bite was left uneaten. Yuuummy.....guaranteed to add a few pounds after this dish is devoured! I'm thinkin' maybe Red could use a few more pounds, perhaps she needs to borrow my recipe?

Yes I can. I like experimenting with different ingredients for both taste and texture.

my signature dish is a winner every time, corned beef with cabbage and potatoes.
