| the word chemistry Posted: 5/10/2008 8:43:54 AM | chemistry= deception
See how freely the word is used and free how freely the divorce rate is going?
I do agree something has to be there, but you have to look PAST it. Not use it as the only deciding factor.
Gut feelings don't make it a wise choice.
Read enough in the forums and "you" too will see this.

| the word chemistry Posted: 5/10/2008 9:01:56 AM | Custard?
Let's meet and see if there's any custard? Let's meet as see if we have some custard between us?
Now that's beginning to sound kinky!!!!

| the word chemistry Posted: 5/10/2008 4:09:46 PM | "Chemistry" as used on this website is an adolescent term used by people who are unable to narrate their own feelings, give examples, or describe behavior that shows flexibility, adaptability, communication, or the level of intimacy sought.
When an adult (particularly in their 40's, post divorce, and with a few kids to show for the past train wrecks of their relationships) uses the word "chemistry" he/she is letting you know that they are still guessing. Avoid them at all costs.
That's it in a nutshell.

| the word chemistry Posted: 5/10/2008 4:26:32 PM | we "clicked" on all the levels that matter between a man and a woman......
Does it really matter what term is used ?
I mean.......... look how many words are used to describe feces.... poop, poo poo, poops, doo doo, crap, sh*t, fudge, doody, pinch a loaf, turd, etc. etc. etc. regardless of what is used..... everyone knows what they are referring to, lol

| the word chemistry Posted: 5/10/2008 9:28:57 PM | I like the word chemistry. Makes me feel periodically special.
Besides, Custard can't be used. He was killed by the Sioux and Cheyenne indians at the Little Bighorn almost 150 years ago.

I agree with needless mincing of words that women seem to play. Choose at random 10 profiles written by women here and I guarantee you 7 or 8 of them will prominently mention chemistry (either explicitly or implicitly). The sex drive of a man is directly connected to his eyes. Is this really new territory here?
Just out of curiosity, I did a bakers' dozen. Age range 22 -- 57. Several countries. Many body types, level of education, and beauty. ZERO INSTANCES OF THE USE OF THE WORD CHEMISTRY
To OPie: I like the word because it is simply a scientific explanation of what happens. However, as a writer, I seldom use it, because I think the process is useless: I'm not about to let my body make these decisions for me, lol! Rather use my brain and my soul, and then create the chemicals. . . . It works.

| the word chemistry Posted: 5/15/2008 7:09:13 PM | Lol, I agree. If I see the word in a profile, I've never found the writer to be sexually mature. He's shopping in the fast food aisle of the meat market! I prefer the simmer to a steamy boil rather than a bang then nothing but smoke ;-) | |

| the word chemistry Posted: 5/15/2008 7:30:25 PM | how about spark, "feelings, emotions. ? found no meaning for chemistry but it's great when you find it between two people.. | |
|
| the word chemistry Posted: 5/15/2008 8:06:03 PM | The word is highly over used to not only describe what people can't find the words to describe when looking for a mate but to also to dismiss someone without the need to really describe why.
A close friend of mine once said about this topic that a person who just say "there must be chemistry" lacks the understanding of their own emotions and how they interact with experiences, time and choices that go into the strong and lasting bond of a loving relationship. I happen to agree with her.
For me, it is the same thing as someone who answers a question with "well its because I just do." It becomes a crutch for something they either don't really understand or they can't describe with any level of self awareness or knowledge.
Now, this word is not as annoying as "that is hott" but hey give it time, with as many single people not knowing what they want and why, it will happen!

| the word chemistry Posted: 5/15/2008 9:06:08 PM | | Chemistry is a absolutely wonderful euphemism. I could not dream of a better way to point out what giant hypocrites women are for shaming men who dare to have standards, yet they think they can hide behind a fig leaf of doublespeak and assume no guy is going to notice the average girl is actually more shallow than any man. What's really fun to watch is the women who try to justify their own behavior while trying to castigate a guy's, as it's not often you see such blatant double standards being expressed in a single breath. | |

|
| the word chemistry Posted: 5/15/2008 10:12:13 PM | I never understood the idea of "chemistry".
Then a metophorical piano dropped on my head.
I still don't understand chemistry but I do know it when it lands on my head.
