I never said the topic was invalid, I said dumb. I love contributing to dumb subjects sometimes as I am an expert on dumb and I need to keep up with current trends.

I am against it.
It is so ...... umm loose out there (these days) that I stopped dating - right after I started. It was just too difficult to ignore the eager females I encountered.
There was just no reason for sex and it seemed like it was some kind of mission to them. Like sex was just part of the date - any date any guy.

That was all peachy when I was a kid. The deal was "heat them up" - listen to the "but I am not that kind of a girl" - saying I realize that and going right back to the heat up job at hand.
Not anymore - for me at least.

Would you even date someone who has had multiple sexual partners, before you? Like I ever ask how many women my SO ever slept with. I don't care, that is none of my business. It is none of his business how many guys I have slept with too! Having said that, I don't think that all men think that you should have sex early in a relationship. There are men that want a real relationship and want to know you and feel something for you before you jump in bed together. I know I dated enough men here that didn't get a kiss even from me. There are many gentlemen out there.
There are some trans that want to have sex early with guys to find out how they will react. That is just one thing I have heard from a trans about having sex early.
I know that I want to know the guy's parents names and be able to ask about his testing for STD's. To me that means you have to know the guy pretty well. I personally would be disgusted with myself having sex with someone I didn't care about. | |

Physically, you play Russian Roulette with life compromising VD's these days when rubbing privates. Emotionally, I tend to bond with sex as I think many other women do. Bonding with someone who treats you as merely another flavour in the candy box would be a HUGE letdown.
Multiple sex partners before me? At my age, I've had many and I assume that a man my age would have had many also. I couldn't judge another while exonerating myself. Luckily, my wild years were before the Aids virus. | |

and that's what I say when I talk to the younger ones,,, yes I had my fun but the fear of it turning black and falling off wasn't there,,,
I've used the term serial monogomist for myself and was told recently that it's bad,,,

Posted: 11/1/2009 5:03:34 PM | I think at times we forget we set examples for younger people, in my daughter's friends..she just turned 19...most have an STD now...some it is just HPV others it is herpes...they dont even care if they give it to someone else...the one with herpes got it when she was 13, she is 17 now and my daughter stopped allowing her to be around cause she slept with 4 different guys and never told them she had it.
When we were younger the STD were treatable, now they are lethal and life long. | |

I understand the reasoning but how about this:
Doctors are students, there's a reason to get "another opinion" from them. Not all are top notch as we all know,,,
Herpes as I understand it began with Herpes 1, how did it migrate/mutate into Herpes2? Could it have been the advancement of oral sex during the 60s and 70s and it changed to it's climate becoming Herpes2? Could shingles, since it's a virus do the same thing?
I'm glad you decided to point out one of them might not be transmitted by sex but how about the others,,,
Are they dangerous enough???

Posted: 11/1/2009 6:00:27 PM | A few post above yours I pointed out that STD's are both deadly and lifelong...however I don't want someone to confuse having shingles with an STD...there is a difference.
Sigh...I went to my pcp and he said it was the summer time...could be anything but probably a reaction to a bug bite...I went to the derm the next week when it wasnt better...they were equally as clueless based on my age and where it was...finally when I mentioned the awful pain the third week back at the pcp he smacked his head and goes...you have Herpes zoster, shingles! The medicine worked wonders.
Imho for the record there are no pros for Promiscuity it just makes your self esteem less in the long run...the cons are endless. | |

How can you outlive getting cancer, can you imagine your quality of life getting it (hpv is being shown to be the cause of throat cancers and others now)? I lost someone this year, it was to cancer most likely from smoking, but cancer none the less. Toward the end, she was in so much pain, it was so sad. Talking about pain, herpes is painful, how can you outlive pain??? | |

Lately, our culture seems to be embracing the concept of multiple partners and people exploring their options. Sexual promiscuity seems to be the norm, rather than the exception.
Hmmm...must be why I've chosen to become a Born Again Virgin!
I love "sex"..but I love "making love" even more.
I would much rather save myself for the next man whom I want to "make love with"...not just have sex with.
{Especially since I'm capable of having great "sex" all by myself!}

Ron I myself just recently found myself at the same point as you were and for the very same reasons. However I am really trying not to talk myself out of it now because if I was to stop dating that would be just giving up.
I am just not a quitter by nature.
