Would you even date someone who has had multiple sexual partners, before you?
The question at over 45 should be, "Would you date someone who never had sex?"
What's promiscuous by one persons standards may not be to another.

sexuality is ever personal to a being. the spirited creature form wise be sown.
the love of an other is not judged by how many had been loved ... examined self lovingly of its deed be how loved ...and were spared the chaste in reply...
or.....speechless....did you love me. ....?
my words be worlds and pearls of dew christened sunshine ...
in the realm of my youth .
but now ... asleep and lonely ... i yearn your moonlit naked ear and necked arches.
i may never wake to know your gone.

Am I unusual here?
nope!
but if people are going to be excluding those who had multiple partners before them, i'm doomed to singleness forever!!!

Promiscuity is animal behavior, which is quite lousy!
i hate to break it to you this way... but humans ARE animals - or weren't you paying attention in biology class?

| Promiscuity ~~ Pros and Cons Posted: 11/2/2009 4:26:19 PM | I'm thinking that the "multiple partners" thing got a little twisted up,,, I thought they meant that the person entertained multiple partners within a time as in days or weeks, as in seeing multiple people and having sex with them,,, not as in having had more than one in their life,,, If that was, what was really meant, the person is either a rarity or a habitual hypocrit,,, JMO

...Oh oh...Better watch what I say....just last week I eluded to the fact that I've can't remember the last time I had "hot monkey sex" ...hmmm, wonders how many have misinterpreted my post. *slaps forehead*

Damn good thing you recanted 'cause I was gettin' ready to fling some poo at ya,,,

edit: In case some didn't get that joke, monkeys fling their poo,,, Didn't want anyone thinking I go around flinging poo willy nilly,,,
Why do I even play in the playground of the unforgiving, the misunderstood and the judgemental,,, Must be the masochist in me,,,

Promiscuity is animal behavior, which is quite lousy!
People ARE animals, in case you hadn't heard. And as far as animals go, there are a number of species that mate for life, and when one dies, the other one lives on without ever replacing the one that's gone.

there are a number of species that mate for life. This is one of those 'facts' that has become popular but is not actually a truth. There are many species, especially types of fowl, that stay with the same partner for life; however, they are not monogamous: they fool around a lot, having sex with others outside the partnership. So, holding up these animals as examples, while popular, is not accurate.

I looked it up just now and this is a bit of what I found:
Trumpeter swans, mourning the death of their mate until they die of grief. Wild pigs, never mating again if one loses his mate. Black vultures, attacking any fellow vulture caught philandering! Shingleback skink, taking frequent vacations but always returning to the same nest.
Also included in several lists are one variety of penguins, the Emperor, I think. Some of the primates are included, but some lists also include various species of cats, like snow leopards. Cats are cats, no matter what species - a female in heat will mate with the closest male, and any male will try for any female in heat.
Humpback anglerfish: one species is absolutely monogamous. In the black darkness of the deep sea, the tiny male anglerfish (perhaps one tenth the female’s size) detects and follows the scent trail of a female of his own species. Once found, he bites his chosen one and hangs on. His skin fuses to hers, their bodies grow together (he gets his food through a common blood supply and becomes essentially a sperm producing organ). They mate for life — a short life for the male.
There are any number of species which, while they do mate for life, will replace a lost mate and may in the meanwhile be rather social in their favors, depending on the abundance of available food. The less food, the more restrained and limited the assorted extra-curricular matings.

| Promiscuity ~~ Pros and Cons Posted: 11/2/2009 6:06:45 PM | | Kari, they may 'mate for life', i.e., stay with the same partner, but they continue to engage in sexual activity with others. Except, probably the anglefish who is fused to his mate's body. All or most of the others, according to the research I've read, are not sexually 'faithful' to their partner. | |

| Promiscuity ~~ Pros and Cons Posted: 11/2/2009 6:06:51 PM | Days, weeks, or years, I don't want to know how many I have been with...ummmm errr or my fiance...some things are left in the dark recesses of my mind never to be brought back.
My son mentioned lions mating habits. I need to watch more discovery channel or animal planet! I definitely don't want to be with a monkey, they will stop mid... for a banana or other fruit! Geez, even birds flock up their relationships.

| Promiscuity ~~ Pros and Cons Posted: 11/2/2009 6:40:27 PM | That is correct it's not a fact that most animals stay with one partner
it is also correct the humans are indeed animals
now lets ponder how many species are bisexual... betcha it's way more than ya think!
my std comment? well of COURSE it was taken too far (I expected nothing less) the fact is there is an incubation period for aids the point was that at this age you'll PROBABLY out live the virus, that is to say old age will kill ya first
but again, there can be exceptions..

lso included in several lists are one variety of penguins, the Emperor, I think.
Emperor penguins mate for one year and then switch. So, pretty much like so-called "monogamous" humans.

I knew there was a reason why I decided not to major in any of the biological sciences. You can find totally opposing and documented views, on just about anything, it seems. But the thought of doing a research paper citing opposing views is appealing, in a way. At least with revisionist history books, you can get some idea of where the revised versions come from.

| Promiscuity ~~ Pros and Cons Posted: 11/2/2009 8:27:35 PM | ... far be it from me to sound as the great sexual conqueror. cuz i aint'. unless imagination counts. (phew...thank god for that). but facts are is that humans were intended to love one another. and if that be somehow repressed due to environmental and social factors or conditions which otherwise compromise the cerebral and emotional natural exchanges of social gathering...then shall the physically capable compensate...over compensate ? by energetic anxious displacements.
i can't be certain how the men have fared rel. to womenly social/personal recreations. but if women be pushed back further from personal responsibility(mind/soul) to satisfy social acceptance soothing codes (witness no contact practices and rules by social condition regulations) with yet loosened and loosening of her physical opportunities (due to mobilities and services) ...she will be the most busy neurotic lover ever.
i do believe that men have very little conscious of just how displaced from natural familial relations women has become...and that is probably due his own uncertainty of natural familial. no offense to any ...really. but the vacuum which keep us apart i want to see healed.
t.b.c.
i hope that some of you sympathize and not to the denigration of any other.

| Promiscuity ~~ Pros and Cons Posted: 11/3/2009 3:04:42 AM | From my own observations, it seems that men and women are "world's apart" on their views. ^^^^^^^This is a quote from my original OP: Back in the Spring 2008, actually 18 months ago, when I initially posted the OP, there was a lot of discussion going on, in "then" current forums, regarding "attitudes" about women/men and their sexual behaviour. And, because of a personal experience, I was looking for answers.
I suspect, after reading these threads, talking to other people, etc. that a lot of women who WERE free thinking about enjoying sex, got a lot LESS free after running into a few hit and run guys, or guys who right out and SAID " you aren't relationship material, you gave it up too easy".
^^^^^^Ladyc4 stated my thoughts quite succinctly in the above quote from msg. 135..... After being widowed for 6 yrs. and in the fall of 2007, I decided to date again. I had been communicating with a fella for 10 months. After finally meeting him, you guessed it.........he became a "hit and run" guy who saw me as "too easy". Damned if ya' do..........damned if ya' don't. Needless to say, I'm NOT free thinking now. Basically because, I no longer feel like being treated like a "piece of merchandise". He cured me or ruined me............take your pick. .........haven't had a date since..........
What I'd LIKE to see become the "norm", is that mature men and women RESPECTED each other's decisions and standards about sex, when to have it and who to have it with, without using words like "laughable", "silly" "prudish", or labeling someone as a "horndog" or a slut because they were more focused on sexual pleasure, or had less exacting 'standards'.
^^^^^You can say that again!!!........ Ladyc4...I always enjoy your candidness

| Promiscuity ~~ Pros and Cons Posted: 11/3/2009 6:57:49 AM | My view is that men and women don't use all those nasty words with people who they like and respect. If they did, they would not likely get very far with them. If you run about making negative judgments about other people's history, its pretty clear that not only are they "not the one for you", but you are not the one for them either.
I would bet that most reasonably well brought up people would not engage in such verbal abuse.

I think that happens to a whole lot of women simply because they are not aware of how the world has changed while they have been out of the dating scene.
I do not think for a moment that he cured or ruined you he was just an eye opener on what is going on out there.. You are basically still the same person that you were in 2007 except your eyes are now wide open.
Sadly I think some men search for the type of women that have little to no idea what is really going on out there. After all there are an easy mark.
