I have noticed that a lot of men won't put any effort into making the first move. Maybe they're tired of rejection or feel you're out of their league. I get a lot of compliments, "hellos" & faves, but I don't think there's a lot of serious prospects on here. I have had a few phone conversations but for the most part the men I've spoken with are not that interesting to consider dating.
I did have a 3 year relationship w/someone I met on POF. I can't say one site is better than the other. I think you have to be extremely cautious when dating on-line, especially women. | |

I concede defeat to "Mr Wonderful" and will never again have the cheek to respond to a post on which someone as intelligent and funny as yourself has commented on! Some of us are just not worthy compared to super heroes like you (or should that be big headed tossers like you?!!)
Oh and some extra "English Grammar" lessons might come in handy too next week when you go back to school, as your grammar and punctuation is at a level of a 14 year old.

Of those I have messaged, I can count replies on the fingers of one hand. But in my case, it's predominently down to my not wanting kids (mine or anyone else's) which means I am really looking for a needle in a haystack.
I know others who are happy to have kids but their success rate is not that much better than mine.
It is what it is. And while I get the "be patient" line of reasoning, there comes a time when you simply have to say "this doesn't work for me" and forget it - or stick to partaking of the forums. | |

Dude don't you get tired of positing the same message over and over? You must have posted this like 10 times all over the forums. You don't take peoples advice on fixing your profile, constantly negative at all times, bitter as the day is long, complain about all the beautiful people, tell lies about you being ugly, ignore your own bad profile then incorrectly think its everyone else's fault that you are having problems. Its time to face facts here and not become a troll. I know you meant well and honestly think you are correct but I have gotten pearls of advice from people who helped me with my profile AND IT WORKED! Go post for some help in the profile section and learn a little from them and stop being so narrow minded. I am in the same boat as you are but I just don't feel sorry for myself and blame others. I push on and try new things. It's real easy to blame others rathen then to look at onself and try something else.

Posted: 9/8/2012 2:01:09 AM | Of course it will be easier for the above average looking people, just like it is in real life, and I agree a lot of the ladies least round my area and the more younger ones, want something that maybe they cannot get IRL, i.e a tall dark handsome well off bloke, they can get the average guy they get on with really well at the bar, so they come on here for something different and hope it fits all into place, upto them, no point complaining.
The most genuine people I have found on here are the average looking girls, and I don't say that as an insult I am an average looking guy, but they are the ones they don't seem stuck up and are genuine, and if you're looking for someone above average or out of ya league then ya need to get off POF and get out and chatting and let ya personality try and win them over as it won't happen on POF, looks come first, again, way it is, none of us would be intimate with someone we didn't least find cute. It's same in real world as well, but I find it easier offline as ya humour and personality can really click with someone whereas on here it's hard to do that with a profile...
With that said, POF is free, anything you get from it is a bonus, even if it's just one date that's one more than you would of had. Don't take it seriously and the best tip? Use your profile to be funny and display a sense of humour, too many serious profiles that are just boring, I get complimented on mine a lot, it's not great but it's not boring either, least I don't think so. Leave some things to find out later, don't go into great detail.

I cannot imagine the female version of myself experiencing what I have experienced: Polite well written messages being ignored to the tune of about 90%. Yes, I do hear from women who initiate communication with me, unfortunately almost every one of them is 3-10 years older than I am, certainly not what I am looking for. Fortunately, I know who am I am who I should be meeting, even though it hasn't happened yet on POF. I could not have dropped dramatically in desirability as much as this site, so far, could by playing tricks with my mind, lead me to believe. The site, bless its heart, gives pointers and tries to provide helpful suggestions. I think it is what it is & in order to meet who I should actually be meeting on POF it is going to take tremendous effort and then hopefully an element of luck. Wish me luck, as I need it. | |
