Posted: 7/3/2008 2:00:08 PM | A virgin floater MMMMMMMM going to have to make sure someone go's for a swim LOL You'll have fun this in not a diffacult river even if you float with a non paddler LOL.You can ask GiGi or other paddlers that went on the North Fork trip that was a much more difficult that the Lowwer Elk.There is a few fast spots but nothing hard.Here is what the missouri canoe org has to say about it.The Elk River and its scenic tributary, Big Sugar Creek, have become a favorite float with canoeists in the western part of the state. Big Sugar provides good camping and fishing, and is an unusually clear stream. In the Pineville and Noel areas, summer cottages are numerous, but the Elk below Noel again has a more isolated quality.http://missouricanoe.org/river-maps/elksugar.html.This is a fun float more of a foot in the water and a beer in the other with a paddle in the water once in a while just to keep you striaght LOL. Posted: 7/3/2008 3:45:18 PM | i can tell u haven't been on the elk in awhile alpine. a large population of south of the border people line the elk now. but we'll pass thru them and we'll have fun. sugar is the more scenic of the 2. i'm floating it the 26th with family. its all good | |

Posted: 7/4/2008 11:56:20 AM | Hi All I'm sorry to break this news to you all.But I have had a unfor seen accident at work today.I was just finishing loading a plane when I was closing the cargo door when a traine pulled the belt loader out from the plane when I wasn't ready for him to do it.And I fell and broke my ankle good right now .I'm in a soft cast right now and will have surgery on Tuesday morning to repair it.So I'm not going to be able to go next weekend. .I'm sorry GiGi you'll have to find your tomato's at a farmers market and chick man sorry mate I'm not to be able to bring ya any beer this time.I WISH EVERONE THAT IS GOING A FUN FILL WEEKEND>So maybe later on this summer we'll have another float or next year for sure I'm going to host another float on the North Fork | |

I just got back from Pineville and the river is in good shape there were about 200 people on the river today. It is up a bit but it was running fairly slow. So we should be in good shape for next weekend.
