Posted: 5/28/2008 8:13:50 PM | | for those who have never been on the elk, its not the colorado,lol. doesn't really qualify as a river, more of a creek. but always a fun float, especially for the inexperienced. a little bit of rapids plenty on gravelbars to stop and stretch on. some good holes for swimming. it'll be fun for everyone, even if you've never been canoeing. | |

I know that they are only 15 minutes apart, but where do you plan on putting in at and where is everyone planning on camping for those of us that plan to make a weekend of it. Also any idea which distance we will be floating. Usually putting in at cyclone is about 7 miles and takes a few hours.

Pineville to Shady Beach will be the float
The number for the canoe rental place is also posted...they can give you the exact route ...we will be doing the 8 mile float as explained in the posting

Posted: 6/6/2008 10:42:41 AM | | I'll be moved (finally!) to Nixa 6/17 and had planned on going on the St. Louis river trip end of June, but am now interested in this one on the Elk....especially since it'll be closer for me. No tent, no camper.....is there a motel real close that anyone would recommend? Do y'all make a full weekend of these river trips? Really looking forward to it, not only for the fun/enjoyment of the water & the outdoors, but making new friends! | |
