Posted: 6/7/2008 8:38:33 AM |  I'm riding in the canoe that has the biggest ICE CHEST  It looks like we all might be playing musical chairs! I think a man in the back and draw names for the gal in the front unless you gals are good paddlers...It did say float and thats what I'm good at...float.

After having a great float this weekend on the June 7th float (North Fork - POF - AlpineBryon), I've decided to sign up for this float as well. Being from Springfield, MO, I decided to make a weekend out of the float, and visit family for a short spell while down that way or passing through. In fact, my twin brother doesn't live far from Elk Creek. Is anyone familiar with where Crane, MO is? That's where I'll be prior to the float visiting. Anyway, I hope this float is as fun as the June 7th float. The scenery, water and attendees were great! Although, we almost didn't make it to the take out in time!! It seems we did beer stops around every other bend in the first 2 hours!

I called Shady Beach Resort, and the gentleman who answered couldn't give me reservations, because he didn't have a name for our group, or what name you're planning to use for our group? Apparently, he recognized POF, but doesn't have it as the name for our group, or what name it's under?

I think that would be a good idea, pick names for canoe partner, or start emailing each other prior to the float and learn something about each other before making a decision? After being on the last float, Men and Women shouldn't be shy and start emailing each other as a potential float partner.
As Liz states, and I agree, I prefer to paddle in the back, and let the lady sunbathe all she wants. It's much easier to navigate when the person in the front isn't paddling. Just my .02 worth. | |

Sounds like you are all camping at shady beach which I don't do shady cause they have at 10 p.m.lights out ,no radios, and and all quite @ 10;00 p.m. no fun to me . But I will float I'll put in at Gracies or hog haven and I'll float just past shady @ mount shira and if I camp I'll go to either Gracies, hog haven and or might just come home. Not sure as of yet cause I'll be floating the mullberry on the 4th . I'll watch for you all I'm easy to spot I'm the only one on the Elk with a Pink Kayak at least I've never seen another pink one lol hope to see you all just don't like camping at shady beach to many rules hope to hook up with you all ey.floatin Tracey    | |

Posted: 6/9/2008 4:50:07 PM | no point in picking canoe partners before hand as someone may cancel at the last min. we'll probably be switching around all day anyway . no pressure before hand that way. unless ur bringing a friend with u to start with. and lauri, u will be fine paddling a little. it'll be more comforatable to sit in a seat than on the top of a cooler. some of the women don't intend to paddle much anyway.  | |

I am trying to plan another camping trip in August....let me know the details and maybe we can use another place like the one you recommend...
ALSO I NEED A COUPLE OF PEOPLE TO ORGANZIE THE FOOD AND THINGS FOR THE COOKOUT AFTER WE GET BACK ON SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE CAMPGROUND,..ANY VOLONTEERS?
ALSO LET ME KNOW WHO ALL IS GOING TO CAMP ON FRIDAY , SATURDAY NIGHT OR BOTH
