It's obvious that you didn't read most of the replies on this thread if any, including mine where I clarified my over-use of the word stalker, and you quickly spat off your incoherent response. Why are you so concerned about me and my self importance? Honestly any issue involving my life is important to me whether it's what pair of socks to put on in the morning or which route to take to work. If my experiences with "relentless individuals" from P.O.F wasn't important to you then MTFO and don't bother giving me or anyone else your .2 cents. I asked people to share their story and offered up my experiences plain and simple. If you have an experience from POF then share it with the rest of the class, instead of attacking me and telling me how unimportant my life experiences are to YOU......lol

Posted: 4/27/2008 10:39:17 AM | I have run into a man here who when I first spoke with and did believe him said everywoman he meet stalked him...In the long run He had a anger management problem, losing his home, not working, etc...He then accused me of being a stalker just because I asked him a question....This man in his mind felt all people who e-mailed him after he said it was over was a stalker, Indeed he had said he still had friends who were ex's he dated here...so he lead me on to believe u could still be friends....He had mental issues, but handsome and fun for a while till it all came out. Anyway , point being everyone has a different version of what a stalker is........... | |

This is something our grandfather's did and he didn't get arrested, it was actually romantic.
Now..."AAAAAAH< I have a stalker...ARREST HIM ARREST HIM!!!!!!!"
And some women wonder why they are still single. lol Men are afraid to make any kind of effort, due to laws that favor women.
I love how both of you left out the part about how she broke up with him before this and also that he was parked out side of her house incessantly as well as continuing to do these things AFTER she told him to leave her alone.
Amazing how people can leave out little bits of the story to make it sound like it suits their own personal cause.
True stalking can be scary as hell and when someone tells you to LEAVE them alone, you need to LEAVE them alone - continuing to make contact is NOT "courting" - it's harassment at best. | |

this is what I took the OP to mean: just those relentless men and women who continue to send email, contact you in some way on POF.
The real life stalking incidents, as related in this thread, seem to be pretty horrible for the person invovled. Yet, I wasn't expecting those stories to be honest.
I thought he meant just those people we call nutbars and othe assorted lunatics who get upset at read/delete or unread/delete or for whom " NO, thanks but no thanks!" doesn't get the women's point across. And they keep hounding the person via the internet and especially via POF.
They create different profiles handles and then commence bombarding the woman with email, talking about things that only THEY would know from using the other profile/handle.
Anyway, that was what I was expecting.
The campsite thing is a bit weird. Creepy isn't enough. That seems excessive to me but wtf do I know. nothing. The flat tire seemed coincidental. There may be a chance that he did it. A slight chance but a chance. YOu drove 3 hours on the highway- I take that to mean that if you had a flat tire, you would have noticed it earlier. Maybe you got a flat just as you drove in.. who knows. Either way.. I'd be leaving.
There are obsessive personalities all over the place, of either sex. Good luck people.
I am so lucky that I live in a small town where the women are generally wonderful and share common interests, for the most part.

Posted: 5/2/2008 2:37:19 PM | oh, thank god i haven't gotten one! i mean, there was one or two guys that i traded emails with for a while and then lost interest, and they continued to email me a bit after that, but my silence was enough for them to realize that THAT was that and to move on. i've had a stalker before that i had went out on a date with once, but that wasn't online. but, reading all that you guys have written, here's some advice to apply to those you start to see from online:
* NEVER give out your home address or meet/go back to your place. They will henceforth know where you live and that can become scary.
* NEVER tell them where you work. I remember seeing a case on tv of a guy that got obsessed with a woman he met online and went to her place of employment when she refused to take his calls, shot her and some coworkers.
* NEVER get your children involved. This is the rule to follow until enough time has passed by where you really trust that person around not only you alone but your children as well. If a stalker situation arises, you have put your children at risk too.
Of course, there are genuine, sane people out there that will never once think about becoming a stalker. But for now, everyone is just a profile online until you meet and over time get to know, like, and trust them. | |

my story.
I met a girl when I owned a retail business, she had 3 kids and was living in a 2 bedroom apt, she didnt even have her own bedroom. I helped her get a house in the town she wanted and we lived together for 6 years till the economy in Michigan went to hell, by then I had 2 stores and an online business and had to close my 2 stores, right as I was closing the 2nd one she decided she wanted to seperate. In the process I set up a cot in the back room of one of the stores and would go home now and then, so we were still together. We ended up getting jobs for the same company, different plants, I worked in Quality Control Lab she was out on the production floor.
We had plans to meet for dinner one day after work so I went to meet her in the parking lot of the plant she worked at. I waited by her car for half an hour and no sign of her. The plants required a security card to access the building and I had been at her plant inspecting parts so I figured I would go find out if she was working later or what not since she didnt answer her phone. I went in to her work site and her boss said she left half hour ago and tried to page her. No luck so I went ahead and headed out to my truck and when I got out there she was sitting in her car waiting. She said she had an appt after work with human resources, which she failed to mention when we made plans for dinner. Anyhow, we went ahead and had dinner, I went home that night (and you know). Didnt think anymore about it.
A few days later I went to work at my plant and my card didnt work to enter the building. I had someone let me in and got called to the head engineers and plant managers office for a meeting. They said my card had been disabled and all computer access and my accounts and passwords had been disabled because security got an anymouse letter saying I had been stalking a girl that worked at the other plant. Well we figured out the anyomouse email came from my "girlfriend" who said I stalked her the day we went to dinner, evidently because she didnt authorize me to enter the plant to find out what happend to her (speculation). Now how the hell do you make dinner plans, eat dinner, sleep with a man then accuse him of stalking you. She liked the drama and she certainly got some that day. And we were together after that incident.
The point is if some drama whore accuses a man of stalking, he is guilty until he proves himself innocent, in society, in court and even at work. If I have dinner plans with someone, especially someone I lived with for 6 years, I am going to be there, if that makes me a stalker in the opinion of society an employer the court or the police, then **** them because they are liars. I have never stood anybody up and I do what I say I am going to do, my word means something and people knew that, thats how I stayed in business for 12 years, its called integrity and for anybody to twist that into stalking to enjoy a few moments of drama that disgustes me more so society the police the courts for allowing it, because they should be a little more intelligent than the drama whores they accomodate. | |
