| Stalkers? How many have you gotten from POF? Posted: 5/18/2009 11:33:17 AM | Give me a break like the one lady said there was a time when lovesickness was just that and it was allowed to run its course but in this P.C. world you are a stalker i think what would stop a lot of unwanted pursuit is just come right out and tell the person "you are not now and never will be my type" i am just not interested ! period but no some people don't want to burn their bridges and when you finally move on and let them know as much they accuse you of stalking or some sill sh$t people are just too d%mn sensitive anymore and comon sense was tossed out years ago there was a time when women wanted men to fight over them what kind of monster would john wayne or clark gable be today? | |

| Stalkers? How many have you gotten from POF? Posted: 5/18/2009 12:02:35 PM | | not one from here but one in the past. I was really upset when she stopped. I mean stalkers don't just quit. Quiting is for losers. I am not a quiter. But the fact is unless your famous you don't get those crazy idk you stalkers. In real life you get those i met you and now i can't live with out you kind. I read one reply that said a good stalker isn't somebody you know they are there. Thats only true if your stalking prey to kill. These kinds of stalkers want to be noticed to be in your life. They are harmless and have your best intentions in mind. If you know how to use them right you can also get them to do your bidding. | |

| Stalkers? How many have you gotten from POF? Posted: 5/18/2009 1:49:41 PM | I haven't had any from this particular site.....yet. (~cringes at the thought~) BUT, I had one from another site. The guy sat in his car down the street from me and as I was leaving for work and dropping my daughter and a friend of hers at school in the morning, I noticed his car...thought" that car looked familiar" (good thing I'm aware of my surroundings and drink lots of coffee first thing in the am. lol)...so I casually kept on about my way w/out making it obvious but then as my daughters friend got in the car, SHE even noticed him! I couldn't help myself but to go up to where he was parked and confront him. Yep, he was cold busted. You better believe I went ape shit on his azz! He had no choice but to sit there and studder. I moved in on him way too quick. He wasn't expecting that. I told him if I - or anyone else sees any trace of him or anyone he knows around my house ESPECIALLY that early in the morning, I will have him arrested for stalking. I documented the date and time, got his license plate number, make & model of the car- just in case I felt the need to follow through next time. Needless to say.....I haven't heard from the nutjob since. It's also one very good reason I dont invite strange men to my home. | |

| Stalkers? How many have you gotten from POF? Posted: 5/24/2009 1:11:54 PM | I've never gotten a stalker from POF. Is one included with serious member button?
Seriously, I don't consider people who repeatedly contact me via online or even phone to be 'stalkers'; maybe just misguided or something. I ignore them, or block them if that option is available. If someone was hanging around my house and workplace, sending me stuff in the mail, or leaving "gifts" for me, along with the email and phone contact, then I'd be worried. But non-physical "stalking" just doesn't seem to be anything to worry about, in my world. YMMV.
Hmmm ... I've been single a while; guess I must be one of the ones that nobody wants. Yeah, nobody picked me for dodge-ball either.
Oh wait ... we never played dodge-ball.

| Stalkers? How many have you gotten from POF? Posted: 5/24/2009 1:25:20 PM | | I read an article on DatingBetter com that addressed how some women make their profiles asexual, because they think a sexier profile will, and I quote “make all the creepy guys come attack you.” And I showed whether your profile is flirty or not, sexy or not, ultimately basically 1 in 10 guys will write you an e-mail you find inappropriate. What do you think... checl out the article! | |

| Stalkers? How many have you gotten from POF? Posted: 5/25/2009 9:55:30 AM | One. My very first stalking experience in life just occurred through POF. I've only been on the site since Christmas and had talked to this one particular woman for a month or two before meeting. We went out only 2-3 times when I first started to notice things. She was unstable, overly smothering, and a little creepy. She would call 2-3 times a day and would complain if I couldn't see her. I decided to just cut things off in March and ask to remain friends. I was sincere, I liked her as a person but definitely couldn't see starting a relationship.
That's when things turned into an adventure. She ripped into me through email claiming I was a player/womanizer. I've never been one to elevate a situation and prefer to walk away rather than bothering to defend myself from false accusations. So, I ignored the emails and told her not to contact me anymore. I can understand that she's hurt and attempting to deflect blame. But if things don't work out between two people, you move on. It's life.
I figured it was over and that she hated me. The next weekend, she shows up at my doorstep. I had never given her my address, which leads me to assume she had looked it up through directory assistance. She was visibly shaking and I didn't know what she would do, if she had a weapon or what she would have done if I told her to go away. I let her in, was friendly but distant, and we watched a movie. I was again sincere that I wanted to be a friend. In retrospect, I shouldn't have let her in.
Over the following few weeks, she would continue to call just as frequently. She started dropping hints that she wanted to meet up and ask me something. Figuring that it was an attempt to kindle some sort of future relationship, I told her that I wasn't interested in any relationship, at all, ever. Her original blowup and lashing out had sealed the deal - I did not need nor want that sort of drama in my life. She started to send mean spirited and nasty IM's over the next few days regarding how I felt, so I figured enough was enough. This was a person who couldn't cope with rejection nor pursue a friendship maturely.
I blocked her from MSN and stopped answering her calls. She would call between 3 and 8 (yes, 8!) times a day, usually hanging up and not leaving a voicemail. This continued for weeks until I finally got tired of the phone ringing and sent her a simple email stating "Please stop calling." I receive another lashing on voicemail stating that she despises me, that I was the world's biggest ***hole, etc followed by a nasty email.
I thought it was finally over. I figured she'd finally just blamed me for everything and moved on.
I was wrong.
Two weeks later, I receive a voicemail from someone else I had once talked to on POF. A nice woman, just didn't click. We had been friends on Facebook for a day or two way back in March (two+ months ago) and was no longer a friend on Facebook. Anyway, apparently the psycho stalker emails her, stating that I talked about her, that she was contacting other girls that I "had used." The psycho stalker was never a friend on Facebook. So we can only deduce that the psycho stalker had been monitoring my Facebook for months and possibly writing down names of people I added as friends and that she was now contacting them? I closed off my account from being viewed and when the stalker calls yet again a few times. My daughter answers the phone because she's small and cute and likes talking on the phone. It infuriated me. I finally started yelling at the stalker, "get the f*** out of my life!" This was boil the bunny severe. Kathy Bates in Misery obsessive.
I have all the voicemails on recorder, I have all her emails. I've had to talk to my boss about the ordeal since she was calling me at work, I've talked to daycare in case she wanted to get back at me through my daughter. Luckily, I'm moving soon and will cancel/change my numbers and I don't think she has the new address. I'll try my best to not be listed by any of the various utilities. If she tries to contact me again, I will go file a harassment report at the police department and attempt to get a restraining order. I don't want it to get to that, but it seems some people just won't stop.
I never want to go through it again. I've started changing things in my life to protect myself from someone like this.
Scary thing? She's still on POF. She's still looking for a relationship. I'm half hoping she moves onto someone else. But I'm also half fearing she will terrorize that someone else.

| Stalkers? How many have you gotten from POF? Posted: 5/25/2009 3:00:33 PM | Not here, but offline yrs ago. This guy had obsessive-compulsive disorder(OCD). I had to put a restraining order on him.
He had my mail moved to his PO Box, Codes put on my phone. I could not get my bill or ask info about it with the phone co. And yes he was lurking everywhere.
I even changed course of direction but he was there. I almost run him over, as he tried to jump in my car as I approached an intersection.

| Stalkers? How many have you gotten from POF? Posted: 5/25/2009 11:56:05 PM | | I once has a stalker... and to the guy that said if some one was stalking him they weren't very good at it, because you never knew it. Well believe me, and I speak from experience - that isn't a "bad" stalker, that's a smart one. Much like the one I had that is now doing a 5 yr prison sentence for it. I had never met this person (that I knew of), never spoke to him, nad did not have a clue who was able to invade my life, home, mail - and many other levels. He took away my sense of security and made my life a living hell! And I didn't know who he was. I changed my home phone 3 times, my cell # twice, and moved - breaking leases four times in two years! Ruined my credit, cost me a fortune in hook up fees etc. He would get my mail and read my phone bills for my number (acct #), he would get into where I lived and leave noted for me, tore up underwear and left them on my bed. HE would call my new phone and describe what I had on that day, or ask me if I enjoyed my pizza for lunch? He semed to know everything I did. I finally went to the police and they gave me a special phone to keep with me, that would dial the police only and determine my location and then follow me, taking down plate numbers of cars around me, and run checks. Finally I became so scared to leave the house (where I kept a gun in every room - even the bathroom) that the police set up a video camera in front and back of my house. Made me leave to work and waited. They got him going into my house and found him in my hall closet with a knife. They got his prints off my mail, and the video sent him to prison. Where did he come from? He was a customer at the place I worked! I saw him on a daily basis and never knew it. Once arrested the cops came back with his picture and rap sheet, he had done this like 5 times before, and he was a suspect in the disappearance of a woman that looked almost exactly like me, whose has yet to be found. So as if taking a stranger to where YOU live, or giving out way too many personal details to some one you barely know, or hooking up for a one nighter isn't dangerous enough... the ones you really have to be afraid of are those that DO NOT get a thrill out of hassling you! I cannot stress enough how important it is to even pay attention to what you say in public on a cell phone - or talking about your personal life too much! These sites are fun, but PLEASE be careful and use some common sense! | |

| Stalkers? How many have you gotten from POF? Posted: 5/27/2009 6:56:27 PM | | I haven't gotten any stalkers on this site but I have had a few on other chat sites. One would call my house several times a day and if I wasn't the one that answered the phone she would hang up. She kept telling me that we were going to get married and yadda yadda. A complete psycho. | |

Ok, here's my stalker story - At the time, I was a bit weirded out - but didn't want to overreact. I actually made a game out of it- I'd tell my story to a friend and then ask "Sweet? Or Stalker?" - so I put it to you, POFers... I chat and later meet this nice fellow from another online site. We meet at a park where we go for a walk and talk. We have much in common, and seem sympatico - so we agree we will meet again. Which we do. We have lunch one day the next week. All goes well. We 'hug' goodbye. All during this time, we are talking and emailing. I'd told him about my upcoming camping trip - as we had a mutual love of hiking, and the park (over 3 hours away) has the most amazing series of waterfalls, etc. . . So there I am, unpacking my car - setting up my tent (with the help of my 2 daughters!) and who should pull up to my campsite?! He decided that it' sounded so nice, he wanted to hike the trails himself'! Ok - little creepy, but I try to make light of it (no point in ticking the guy off at this point - I'm pretty vulnerable in a tent, right?). So we're chatting a bit, and he points out that I have a FLAT tire! (I had just driven over 3 hours on the turnpike!) So I proceed to say goodbye and take my kids to get my tire fixed. I wound up sleeping by the tent door with a knife under my pillow. . . So, 'Sweet? or Stalker?'
BTW- for the record, I did not tell him which campsite I would be at, etc. - there was no implied invitation - apparently he drove around (several hundred) looking for my car.
JC, that's freaky. Stalker!

| Stalkers? How many have you gotten from POF? Posted: 5/29/2009 5:04:13 PM | I didn't have a stalker but the other day I got a message from a girl who must of just made a profile that day...it had no pictures, 2-3 sentences long and her message to me was "hi we mite have some things in common."
I told her that if she wanted to be taken seriously that she would have to do better then that, to which she responded "ok fine bye loser guess we dont need to talk"
We went at it a bit more then I just flat out told her that if she didn't take the time to make a decent looking profile that all she would get is a ton of emails from guys that wanted to get into her pants and not really be into anything big. She told me to stop contacting her.
Luuuuuuuuuuuuuuulz. She ended up sending 5 more messages with stuff like I hate you, you're an idiot. Go get laid loser.
