| Stalkers? How many have you gotten from POF?
Posted: 9/20/2009 4:17:20 PM | | i have had vulgar rude men...no stalkers...but men who are very immature when you are not interested in their profile...when you think of it...they are stalking me...they keep writing to me on the site...i just ignore them...one fool has stood me up twice...he keeps on contacting me...and i just delete him...just do your own thing...if you have to change your number | |

Posted: 9/23/2009 1:35:58 AM | I never understood the point of staulking. All that time & energy to pester someone that obviously prefers you be out of thier general area. And for what gain? If they haven't fallen for your charms yet, scaring & annoying them is SURE to do the trick!
Actually I had a staulker once. Made threats against me & everything. One of those fun types. Surprisingly enough, after all the legal means were no help, a few well timed comments about being low on dog food seemed to do the trick. I had two big dogs at the time & niether of them fond of him. Ah good times. | |

| Stalkers? How many have you gotten from POF?
Posted: 9/23/2009 6:55:37 AM | I have had two... one serious and one not so serious.
The first one was a man I dated for three months, and when I ended it, due to his control freak-itis, he got a little more freaky. He sent me several mile-long emails of pure EWWW.... started parking in my driveway every Friday and Saturday nite. I phoned the police, but as he had a "known mental disorder" - he was bipolar, they told me they could do little about it, as even if they caught him, he would get off. So, I got a good male friend to become my "pretend boyfriend" and we started hanging out at my place every Fri/Sat nite... having coffee, with or without his kids (our kids are good friends anyway).... and the stalker quit the driveway thing. He then started showing up at POF events, and coming right up to me.... and I started dating a man (for real this time) that was a very big man (about 6'2") and he quit bugging me again. However, he emailed me again after that relationship ended, and he got a blast in my reply email.... and it seems to finally have ended. In total, the stalking lasted almost 2 yrs.
The second was a man I dated a few times, but it just did not work. He kept calling afterwards, asking for advice, pestering me, etc. Then he started showing up at a few clubs when I went out with friends - about 3 or 4 times in two weeks. It got very annoying, to the point a good friend of mine, who is a pretty aggressive person when she needs to me, she went up to him at the club and poking him with her finger very hard on his chest, yelling in his face "leave my friend alone." She was friends with the bouncers, and she had them escort him to the door.... and I have not heard from him since. | |

When we broke up he would sit in his van outside my house at all hours of the day and night waiting for me to leave. He would write me really weird letters and profess his undying love. Then he killed his best friend and was sent to the Navy (Remember the law where they could avoid jail time if they enlisted?). I thought I was home free except everytime he came home on leave he would do the same stuff. He even stalked me after I was married and pregnant with my son. Finally told his CO in the Navy what was happening and he just disappeared. Stalkers, in the true sense of the word, are scarier that shite!! | |

If you read legal definitions of stalking as mentioned you will begin to realize as mentioned again that many people fall into this category unknowingly by the things that they do to co-workers, spouses, boyfriends, etc. The court of public opinion is often different than why, or how a court makes its decisions. Just like rapes go unreported so does behavior that would be classified as stalking. Consult with your respective state or a legal professional to tell you what actually constitutes stalking. I also agree as mentioned the word is glorified and diminishes the severity of a case where a person may be in harms way by a stalker. | |

No, I'm pretty sure I'd have remembered ever hearing that you could get off murder charges by joining the military! Drug charges, yeah, I remember that, murder? nah, pretty sure that's bs. | |

laughed and had a nice convo then the texts started
rolling in....one literally right after the other...i was
like dude, chill and then he acted offended i mean he
was blowing UP ma shyt my blackberry was working
overtime tryin to process all that shyt..i finally had to
jus ignore the shyt outta this guy until he gave up...
whew he was the worst one ever...
and it DOES feel stalker-ish when someone invades you
non stop like that...especially when you've asked them to
chill and they continue....and they become even more
ignorant and start TEXTING IN ALL CAPS...

Posted: 9/24/2009 9:21:48 PM | I've had a few...not necessarily on POF, other than this one guy and he's most likely going to read this because he cyberstalks me on POF. We met once....now he's in love with me RED FLAD .....So it ends, then he tries to find a way to get back in with another profile...again , BLOCK....fast forward a year ...again....this guy is wierd and even admits to having hacked into POF and has read other women's in boxes...not sure how he has done this , but no matter how many times I block him, he's back again, and it's always me that's apparantely missing out on a great guy....I finally had to send him a final warning that if he contacted me again, I would print all the emails and head straight to the local police station.......haven't heard a peep since. | |
