Well i am a Prodistant Christian and drinking is bad but,

there is a big difference between drinking and getting druck. Drinking everyone once and while isent all that bad. I mean in church you do have communion where you are given wine so it was all that bad and aginst god would it be happening?

Perhaps you should consult your minister/pastor/what-have-you. Perhaps they could upgrade.

Yes, there is a difference. I will repost MY thoughts on the difference and the topic of this thread.
Its difficult to take liberty to define the difference between a "buzz" and being drunk. By current law most "buzz" due to alcohol is considered to be under the influence and therefore "drunk". EVERY study conducted has shown that drinkers don't know the difference themselves dispite what they CLAIM. It appears CLEAR that the Bible condones the use of a TYPE of alcohol...WINE and a function/time with meals/food. This, interestingly enough, is something supported by current health/dieticians who agree that wine with a meal is good for digestion, blood and heart. Drunkeness is spoken against in MANY Bible verses. This leads me to believe that a LIMITED use of WINE is quite acceptable. What is "moderate" drinking? Biblically, dietarily and legally; 1 goblett/glass of WINE with a meal. I feel it would be a far and incorrect stretch to include any other alcoholic beverages. Smoking tobacco is not mentioned(not indigenious)but because it like many FORMS of alcohol are harmful to the body/temple is NOT in good keeping with God's Word.

BTW, did you mean Protestant or "Prodistant"? If the latter, what exactly is it?

For a minute there, I thought you were making a funny play on words (thought you said that's "exactly what that is.") Opportunity missed. Turns out you were just picking on her spelling. Charming.

Marathon Man, I meant nothing to what you had said, I was trying to see why there was always an argue from one.

Your words are great and your input is astounding.

I like the word of God over all others, and you sir, seem to know them well.

Awesome and you probably have read correctly by the way!:peace:

Drinking to excess kills your body and clouds your judgement. Obviously this is considered a sin, but simply having some alcohol is not a sin, since Jesus Christ gave some to his Apostles. It's all about choice, if you know it will cause trouble and you do it anyways, it's wrong.

Well, I think people with a number of different perspectives post here. At least I hope so. But maybe you DON'T get my point. This is an unanswerable question, in my opinion, unless it is prefaced with, "From the perspective of {fill in the blank} is drinking alocohol a sin?"

Otherwise, the stated opinions can never be reconciled, and what's the point of THAT? Ok, there's a point, but you know what I mean.

i am a christian and am very passionate about my faith and have in my opinion a vast body of knowledge regarding moral issues. drinking alcohol, in my opinion is not a sin. the bible never strictly forbids it. it does, however, warn against drunkeness throughout. it reminds you that you are still responsible for the decisions you make while under the influence. being drunk is no excuse. and so it goes that it is not wise to get drunk.

my parents are both very devoted christians, my father is an elder at the church, and mother teaches 3rd grade sunday school. they both drink ocassionaly, but never get drunk. you have to realize there is no point at which you suddenly are 'drunk'. just drink in moderation and dont make hasty decisions.
