According to strict Celtic Faiths' yes, it's a Sin against Brigid.

Brigid likes you to have sex and orgasms sober - they feel better.

You get closer to the Godess Brigid with sober orgasms.

___________

Book of Brigid: The Ulster Lake Scrolls

Finella 3:23
"Thy shall not drink alcohol when having sex or praying...."

__________

I always quote the Sacred Celtic Scripture. I refer to authority.

Matthew 2:1-10....too much to post, but Jesus makes wine so that everyone can continue their enjoyment.

So you think Jesus and all those ppl were getn smashed, come on, you can have enjoyment in other ways you dont need to get drunk.

Ecclesiastes 10:19 (NKJV)

A feast is made for laughter, And wine makes merry; But money answers everything.
Wine adds to celebrations.

You must read the entire chapter to get the meaning, 10-19 expresses the attitude of the carousing princes.

It is paramount to read everything in its context, if you just pull a scripture out you can make it sound like anything you want. satan did this when he tempter Jesus.
MATT:4
5Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

6And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
The devil quoited scripture but he twisted it and left part of it out.

Wow....since when does context matter to you ? I have seen a few posts of yours where you support your beliefs, then someone points out that you are taking it out of context as it applies to someone else....you don't seem to care. If you would like I will find some of these posts and quote them for you.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but beer has alcohol in it. Not as much as whiskey or brandy. A little wine, it is said in the Bible, is good for your stomach. The key here is moderation. To drink some beer, wine, or other alcohol with your meal or on special occasions is okay, but to drink to get drunk is destroying your own body. God says that our bodies are his holy temples.

I applaud those of you for knowing your scriptures so well. I am woefully lacking in that area, but there is room for improvement. Not that I'm in recovery, maybe my soggy brain cells will dry up and start working again.

To ask if drinking alcohol is a sin says to me that someone may be concerned about their own drinking, or someone elses. I'd say that you're asking the right questions. God bless.

" A little wine is good for the stomach the bible says"

Yes you are right but the word in that verse is new wine.

1 Timothy 5:23
Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.

If you were to take this and say the bible says its ok to drink fermented wine then you better stop drinking water as well. DRINK NO LONGER WATER it says in the above scripture.

That's what I don't like about the Judeo-Middle East Bible.

It's about using a drug- alcohol - to get people to worship the Holy Mother.

1 Timothy 5:23

Well..look what you made me do, I went and did it again.

To quote Holy Celtic Scripture:

This is from the Welsh Version of 1640.

Douglas 5:17 "...and ye shall not drink any alcohol if you want to be a good Celtic Brigid godess subject...."

Well, after a bracer with the Pope last weekend, we began to discuss this 'sin' thing and agreed that it was all part of the eternal plan to keep us in line with the 'appreciation' thing so that whatever 'sinful' activity one is participating in should have its limitations so one can 'appreciate' not getting busted by the 'God Squad' or end up with 'the hangover from hell'..

In my mind the purpose of the laws of God is to promote life, peace, and happiness among mankind.

And, in order to assess whether or not an activity is a sin, I would consider whether the activity leads or can lead to a frustration of the purpose underlying the laws of God.

Therefore, drinking alcohol in excess is clearly a sin because it is not good for the health of the drinker, because it may lead to behavioural problems and accordingly disrupt the peace, and because over a long term period it can create social and economic loss and accordingly produce unhappiness.

However, drinking alcohol in moderation may not constitute a sin in my opinion if no negative consequences arise from so doing.

Only if it controls you and how you treat other people, and bad things come about because of it. Then it is wrong.

sammysalt, what then do you think of the below verse

Prov. 23
30They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine.

31Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright.

32At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder.

Proverbs 20:1
Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

I think the bible needs to be heard like a story being read from the first page to the last, to understand every meaning of it the best one can. Anyone can pick out a verse and use it to fit their needs, and make the point they wish to make.
The bible was rewrote a long time ago. Unles you were there, in that day it happened, and saw it wrote down first time, and every time. Then you would know if it got a little off track in some places are not. Plus if all of the tablets were found, and put in the right order.
Jesus drank wine, right.
About what you posted. My guess is people were tring to get drunk, and it did affect how they treated people, and it was veiwed bad, based on that. But I think it depends on what I posted first.

Jesus drank wine, right.
*****************************************

If you look it up the word wine is two words, one is new wine (grape juice) thats what Jesus made and drank then there is the old wine, the kind you would drink to get drunk.

Matthew 9:17
Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.

Dont put new wine in old bottles for they will have old wine in them and mix and be bad.

now look at this one, it says if a man drinks the old he will want it more than the new, why do you think that is. You cant get drunk off grape juice.

This is saying when ppl find out how the old wine can get them drunk they wont want the good new wine.

Luke 5:39
No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.

Why do you use verse for verse instead of useing your own words. Thats mostly why people don't like to have church people come to their houses, because they jump around and lose people in order to keep the upper hand. I stick with what I said thank you.

Funn1, I have to wonder about your biblical comprehension...Jesus here produces wine at a wedding feast.

ISV John 2:1 On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee. The mother of Jesus was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When the wine ran out, Jesus' mother said to him, "They don't have any wine." Jesus said to her, "How does that concern us, woman? My hour has not yet come." His mother told the servants, "Do whatever he tells you." Now standing there were six stone water jars used for the Jewish rites of purification, each one holding from twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus told the servants, "Fill the jars with water." So they filled them up to the brim. Then he said to them, "Now draw some out and take it to the man in charge of the banquet." So they took it.When the man in charge of the banquet tasted the water that had become wine (without knowing where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew), he called for the bridegroom and said to him, "Everyone serves the best wine first, and the cheap kind when people are drunk. But you have kept the best wine until now!"

Notice that bold part there..the best wine is given first, when everyone is intoxicated to the point were their taste buds are no longer that discerning it was the practice to bring out the poor stuff...Not here, Jesus provides these "drunks" with the good stuff. Ya need to loosen up a little dude..

Isaiah 5:21-22

21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes,
And prudent in their own sight!
22 Woe to men mighty at drinking wine,
Woe to men valiant for mixing intoxicating drink,

Isaiah 28:7

7 But they also have erred through wine,
And through intoxicating drink are out of the way;
The priest and the prophet have erred through intoxicating drink,
They are swallowed up by wine,
They are out of the way through intoxicating drink;
They err in vision, they stumble in judgment.

13 But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. 14 And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth. 15 For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb. 16 And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God

Why would John need to stay away from wine if it was ok to trink?^^^^
